I followed the tut here -> http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/11...ate-1-rc1.html
Got all the prereq installed. Then after waiting the 10-15, I acutally had dinner and came back started to d/l the SP. It got to 6% and stopped, sat there for a while and then failed with a code of 80070002. Click on the get help link and followed the instructions for clearing out the Software Distribution folder.
Then I checked for updates again. Did the same thing, stopped and failed at 6%. This time I clicked the 'Try Again' button. This time after hanging out for a while it went to 19%. But then it failed AGAIN! If I try again it just stays at 19%.
I figured that maybe the server is overwhelmed. It was 9pm EST or so. I tried again here at 5:15am figuring that most of the US is in a coma at this time. Same results.
Any ideas on how to get this SP? I'm plum out of ideas!
I'm down for anything, just to get this to work! Why did they have to change the way SP where handled? The d/l from a URL was just fine!
Windows just stops during virus scan (Trend Micro)- eventually have to crash it Sometimes during logon, Windows just wanders away....either have to crash it or eventually it will reboot. Cannot boot in safe mode. It will get so far in loading dll files and then reboots it self after a period of inactivity. Cannot download latest Windows security updates.
The symptoms sound like the conflicker worm so I've tried the Sysclean tool recommended by Trend Micro with the latest pattern file. The system stops at some point just as it does with the virus scan and I have to crash it. If I log on to the latop and just surf or play games, no problem. I've also run sfc /scannow which reports no problems.
I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced these annoying freezes that occur randomly in Vista 64. It can happen while I'm playing a game, it can happen while I'm browsing firefox etc. I freeze up about 4 times a day and the only solution is a hard restart.
It is beyond me, I have the video card drivers up to snuff, all updates are installed, virus scanners/spyware scanners, video card isn't overheating, CPU idles at 33 loads at 42. I'll describe the problem a little better other than to just say it's freezing. When the freeze occurs, the entire screen stops moving, I cannot move my mouse, all sound stops working, and if there was a sound playing, it will get mutilated into a nasty buzz.
I have Vista Ultimate 64, sometimes when I am downloading a large file download does not finish and I get an error box that the download had timed out. How can I stop this, the sites where is happens do no support resuming and I only have a slow connection.
Problem: sfc/scannow stops at 76 %, gives no Info just that it can not perform the requested operation

I suspect that its related to the CBsPackageServicingFailure or both or more don't know where to go from here would really like to get sfc/scannow working Email with Acer America this Computer is still under Factory Warranty don't know what it covers, but they DON'T want me to return it to Store in Winnipeg where I purchased it don't know if I been screwed, this computer (LapTop) does Not have a Recovery partition, it has 1 disc C and 1 partition 232 GB (my Emachine Home Basic Desktop did have a Recovery Partition on D) the Store made me set, 2 Discs after I complained and Acer sent me a set, 3.
Discs after some Emails already been at the store they are slick and have few answers , don't think I'll get far at the store.
I am running Vista Home Premium x32 SP1 on a Dell XPS T8300@2.4 GHz. Whenever I try to run sfc /scannow it stops at either 39% or 69% ('Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation')and at the same time I get a pop-up message 'Windows modules installer stopped working and was closed'. I decided to run the sfc because yesterday morning I found my pc with a blue screen and the dreaded 'Windows has encountered a fatal error...' message. It booted successfully but I noticed several things (so far): all entries from System restore had disappeared, Windows updates had failed several times in the last 3 days trying to install Windows Vista SP2 (KB948465), and the 'uninstall/repair program' button in the control panel did not work (when I right-click over a highlighted program I only get two empty squares and no options). So I could not restore the system, could not update it and could not uninstall the most recent programs that might have caused the problem.
The next step was to do a repair install since I have the original Dell installation DVD for Vista SP1 but the upgrade was also unsuccessful - in the beginning of the installation I got a pop-up window with the message: setup.exe - Bad Image : C:Windowssystem32uniplat.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. I clicked 'Ok', the installation ran for about 1 1/2 hours and afterwards a message informed me that it was not successful and my system was being restored to its previous state.........
When I open outlook, vista stops running after a few minutes Whenever I work in Oulook safe mode there seems to be no problem. This started after I downloaded SP 1 Someone experience?
I get "IE8 stops working" messages whenever I open a second tab, this problem started after enabling "Google Chrome Frame" Add-on. I like to keep this Add-on as it makes IE8 faster, I would appreciate any workarounds to resolve this, I have attached some info from event viewer.
Over the past few days my Windows Explorer has begun to give me trouble. Stops responding several times a day. I've been through the Reliability and Performance Monitor and the Event Viewer and cannot find any specific correlation with installs or hw, sw changes. Most, but not all, of the errors seem to be related to ntdll.dll and encoders.dll. I can search for the specific error codes one by one, but since there are several, I thought there might be an easy way to check or re-install Explorer.
Greetings, I just formatted my new computer and when i try to play a dvd with WMP it loads the dvd and goes to a black screen and thinks for a moment, then a windows box pops up and says that WMP has stoped working,"we will look for a solution to this problem"
"This problem was caused by *NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller*,which was created by *NVidia*.
A newer version of this product is available that might solve this problem."
I believe that suggests that i reinstall my nvidia drivers, which i did, but it didnt work.
I have no codec packs installed either
Before the format everything worked perfect but i was having pop up problems and i think i had a virus of some sort.

I just got a new HP pavillion dv3 with vista home primium. But every time the computer went to sleep the clock and date stopped. I could not find out why, tried to remove sync with internet but nothing helped. But then we tried to correct the time and date ind bios and now it works Don't know why but it does. So if anyone else have the same problem I think it is worth trying.
with all the latest games I have bought (gta IV and mirror's edge) I get DEP errors. I tried to exclude them from DEP but my vista won't accept it. So now every ten minutes my games freeze up. What can I do about it? I've read some artikels about shutting of DEP completely. I'm wondering though what that will mean for my security. On some other forums it has been implied that the DEP errors have something to do with faulty hardware.
I am trying to run Easy DVD Clone on a vista computer. The decryption happens through a DVD Fab software which transfers the video ts folders to a location that Easy DVD Clone can then read from. The initial process works fine and it transfers the files to a temp location but then when it tries to burn it to a DVD, the process stalls at 99% and right after I get the pop-up window stating "Easy DVD Clone has stopped working". This happens with all DVD's. Do you know why this maybe the case and if this a vista related issue? I have already disabled my virus protection software as someone has suggested somewhere that it may cause a problem and I also deleted some other dvd burning softwares that I had on there but the result is much the same.
I'm using Vista Home Premium. I have a Brother 5170DN (direct network connection) that has been working fine with my older computers running earlier Windows versions. The trouble is that when the IP address of the printer changes, Vista is no longer able to print to it, so I end up having to reinstall. The reinstallation adds a new TCP/IP port into the driver, and then it works fine until the next time. Since my network is changing frequently right now, due to reconfiguration, this is a pain.
I just received my upgrade Windows 7 disks. Ive followed the steps and everything appears to be ready to upgrade for vista... Ive tried the upgrade process 2 times and both times my computer got to 62% of the final part of the install and sat there from 11pm until 730 am. what is the problem? bad software?
I am on windows vista sp1 home premium, and I often get a problem saying rundll32 has stopped working. I googled and found out that this is often caused due to nero's codecs which interfere with vista, but I have neither nero nor roxio installed, except that I use the latest version of vista codec pack. I just checked out by disabling startup services in msconfig and rebooting each time, but it's all the same every time, the problem just keeps repeating. I often get the problem on resuming from standby.
Can anybody recommend a solution? BTW, i am on an HP Pavilion dvt6846tx. Problem log from "Problem Reports and Solutions":Product Windows host process (Rundll32)
I have a Asus pro80 series laptop with Vista 32 bit. I connect using the ethernet Lan. Uptil about one month ago averything was fine. Since then my Connection after about 10 to 20 minutes slows right down until it stops. It dosn't actually disconnect from my provider. it just stops. If I dis-connect and re-connect then it will work again for a while. Then stops.
What I have tried so far: Updated the drivers for the realtek ethernet. Reinstalled Vista Installed the vista service pack 1 Checked power settings for the ethernet card. Other info: I know that the connection its self is ok as i use the same cable for my works laptop without any problem. Hardware manager says all is running correctly Changing user has no impact.
I have Vista Home Premium. My PC has recently started running a lot. Sometimes it runs for 1 min. and stops for 1 min. then starts again, does this over and over for a long period of time. Sometimes it runs constantly. Other times when it is in sleep mode it just runs constantly also.
I have an HP Pavilion Media Center m8200n PC with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. The problem is with publishing from WMM to DVD using Window DVD Maker. The encoding process goes fine but once it begins to finalize (98.8%) the DVD will eject and then it gives me the message that it cannot complete the burning process due to an error but it doesn?t tell me what the error is. The only thing mentioned is to check the burner and make sure it is connect properly. I should mention that I have an internal LightScribe burner (ATAPI DVD A DH16A3L SCSI cd Rom device). After spending the better part of a Sunday afternoon I tried using only a LightScribe DVD and that worked but in the past I have been able to use any brand DVD.
Using Vista Home Prem. I have made a dvd (and it played fine) that contained pictures with music background and transitions using MSWMM and Windows DVD Maker. I've done the editing for a video dvd (about 1 hr 59 min) but when I try to encode I get an error at about 28% complete and have to cancel the encoding.
My operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit with SP1. The computer downloads the majority of BF2 until the end of the 3rd cd then stops and doesn't say error or anything. It won't allow me to download a patch for BF2 either because it can't specify the file BF2 is in. When I start BF2 it says it can't start up because some file wasn't found and I have to reinstall the application. Which I have tried mucho but won't download the whole shin dig. In the quick info of BF2 where it has the minimum system requirements it doesn't recognize the OS and says that requirement failed but everything else is just peachy.
I have a Fujutsu Siemens Amilo Pi Laptop.. I run Vista Premium Home 32 Bits. Service Pack 2. Intel Core 2 duo CPU T7100 @ 1.80 GHz 1.80 GHz Memory: 2GB. But everytime when i'm working on it for a while it stops functioning.. ( for about 30 minutes ). I went to a computer shop and said they would fix it for me.. but when i got it back they said everything is working fine. does anyone know how i can fix it myself? I think it has something to do with my hard drive.. cuz when i'm working in office word i save it multiple times but when i open it later i find out it haven't been saved for a while..
I recently upgraded my OS from Vista Home to Ultimate (a clean install). It seems as though after I have been using the internet for a while or if I am using too much bandwidth (downloading a few things or have a couple windows open) my wireless stops. I have access to the network - just the actual wireless internet stops. I can't use the diagnose feature by right-clicking as it never has a solution that actually fixes it - I've tried them all. We have several other computers in the house and they don't have problems with it - it also happens when I'm at work as well. When I attach the computer directly to the modem (even while this problem happens) the internet works fine. The only fix is restarting - but that's quite annoying and happening often. I have downloaded the newest drivers for this computer from HP (its a DV9200 CTO pn: EZ345AV) and I can't figure it out.
Vista Enterprise x86 - installed - running on a Windows 2000 AD domain... runs fine for about 30-45 days then just stops working on the network. Diagnostic Policy Service just fails-the associated DLL service fails and won't start for lack of "sufficient rights/access denied". Anyone have any insight other than rebuild the box? I am going to ensure to place it in a container that doesn't receive any GPO policies, but how do I know/find out what is causing this to occur?
I just bought a WD My Book Home 1tb about 3 months ago, and I recently started having this peculiar issue with it. I can't "safely remove" as it says a program is using it (I have no idea what) and if I just unplug it, it isn't recognized under My Computer when I plug it back in. I tried using the eSATA connection on it, and I'm assuming it went to sleep or something and isn't accessible. I tried using USB again, on two different ports, and as per something someone said on another site, tried plugging into different outlets, all to no avail. It is listed under device manager as "working" but I can't access it. The only solution I have found is to reboot my computer, but that is quickly growing very annoying. If I plug into my friend's Vista PC (32bit I think) however, it works fine.
I have a new Asus Laptop with Vista. Windows Mail has never worked right. After startup it only works for a period of time. (Anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour) It then just shows the following error messages. It also will not send an email until I restart my computer. It always works after a startup. I have Zone Alarm, but it acted this way before I loaded it. Is there a setting that should be changed? My internet connection is a Sprint Mifi. This is quite frustrating. I was able to load previous contacts from Outlook express without problems.

Recently I have noticed that what ever application I am in, often it stops responding for a few seconds and then it starts responding. I am operating Vista Home Premium 32bt. and have Norton Internet Security 2010 running. No other programs running at startup except sidebar.
I appreciate help on this matter. I have run full NIS scan, full Malwarebytes, and full tune up in system mechanics 9.
I've used this forum A LOT to find answers to the many problems I've had with my pc - now I have one that I can't find a solution for, so here I am posting! I'm trying to format a new Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB hdd but it won't go any further than 73%. Computer Management tells me that its still formatting (i.e. NO error message) but its been there for hours. I've tried formatting from the Vista installation cd during boot but it plain refused (I forget the error message), it won't even do a quick format in Computer Management. Is my drive humped?
my new HP Pavilian Elite m9350f is it will just freeze once a day. I've been on support several times and they say it is in good shape and the processor just might be getting to hot and it shuts down before damage will occur. I never had this problem when a fan is running in my room. However being in Michigan I don't have the fan on now with the cold weather. I paid alot for the tower and don't want to ruin it buy holding the windows key down and holding the power switch down on the tower. Will doing this alot fry my PC? I wait a minute before re-starting it so the hard drive stops.
