View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a pretty decent system with 1800XT, P4 3.2Ghz, 2GB ram Battlefield 2142 used to run OK on XP -- not stellar, but it ran ~ 30fps at max settings @ 1024x768 In Vista, I get 100% CPU usage as soon as game starts -- even while only menu is displayed. In the game, at lowest settings @1024x768 I get about 15fps max, most of the time it is a completely unplayable <10fps. Moreover, it is not consistent, but lags for short period, then plays ok, then lags. In my previous Vista x64 install (where game was running worse than xp, but ok), I accidentaly enabled EAX on non SB sound card which caused huge CPU load and therefore huge lag -- I checked the settings this time, sound quality is at minimum and EAX is disabled.
I'm out of ideas -- why is CPU @ 100% all the time? Why is lag not constant, but does not depend on the complexity or amount of displayed material? While I play a game like Need For Speed Carbon -- Videocard is noticably stressed as fans kick in to full power, but with BF 2142 -- videocard seems to be chilling while processor almost never drops below 100%!!!! I have the most updated Videocard drivers available for Vista x64. This is pretty much the only game I play so I would really love to see this solved.
I just recently bought the game and installed it, when I went to go run it my entire computer locks up and has to be hard booted. Looking on forums I ran it as administrator and also in Windows XP SP2 compatibly mode. Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem and my computer still locks up and requires a hard boot. I do not even get into the game before this happens. The screen stays at the desktop frozen. Another program I have also mimics this, Autodesk Inventor. Not sure if they are related but my teacher said that Vista 64bit seems to always be the problem. I would like to get both of these programs running, especially Battlefield 2142, but my computer seems to be fighting me. Many other games work, it is the deluxe edition, patched till 1.50.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been experiencing some problems running bf2142 on my new HP Dv6z-1100. I've poked around, but could not find the answer to my questions. If this has been solved, please provide a link. Installing bf2142 and the system patch goes smoothly, its when I want to play that vista (or whatever the problem is) rears its ugly head. I can load the game, login to my account, and proceed to the main menu. However, my game automatically quits a couple seconds after I access any of the secondary menus. Windows tells me that it had to automatically quit, and that it will notify me when a solution is available. Predictably, it has not notified me yet (nor do I suspect such a feature actually works).
I've updated my audio and graphic drivers, so I don't think that is the problem. I've run as an administrator (with the updated drivers) and still nothing. My computer should be able to handle this game, and I don't understand why it won't. I've got the turion graphics card in it.
I can sucessfully load up the game and all however whenever i try to join a multiplayer game(says "Joining Server... then crashes" or finish loading a single player game(after the textures are loaded or the shaders it just crashes) OR whenever i click audio in settings my game(right after i click audio it just goes boom) just crashes back to desktop with the BF2142.exe error. I've read about many different crashes with other people but this seems different, people have had crashes during map changes, splash screen, and a few secs after joining the server, havent seen anyone with my problem of crashing when i see the "joining server.." box.
I've tried
1)reinstalling/repatching
2)run the exe as admin.
3)disable UAC and reinstall/repatch after restart
Im pretty sure my computer can handle the game, my old one did fine and this one owns it. Im kind of lost, I've tried many things and this freaking game just doesnt want to work.
Had problems with Battlefield 2.
You have to run in admin mode , else you will be booted by Punkbuster
Also had problems with online play being jerky. (where BF2142 is smooth as glass)
Rectified problem by running BF2 in XP Sp2 mode

I have this problem on Vista x6 which doesnt occur on x86. I install BF2 and the extras and patch to latest version available. The game runs fine (With tghe exception of nasty Widescreen support) But after playing for a while, no more than 20 minutes, it just crashes to desktop. This crash is silent, no error messages or anything.
I did a search for this and have seen the problem referenced in other threads but not in a thread that discusses it in detail. Does anyone else have/had this issue and if so any solutions known?
I'm on Vista x64 with 6GB of RAM, so I thought I would play a really cool game. I lost my copy of BF2 so I had to download a .iso of it. I patched (as in officially patched) the game after I installed it and now I have a big problem: the game then transfers to a black screen like it was loading, but then the game just crashes with no error messages. Can anyone give me a way to get this game to work?
i just installed battlefield 2 on vista home premium 32bit i have a dell xps m15300 with 4 gb ram 2.4ghz so its fast enough to run the game..
my computer uses nvidea geforve and it seems that my non-PnP monitor is set to 63hz refresh rate and i think it needs to be 60 for the game to work... how do i fix it? when i go into monitor settings its got a dropdown menu with only 62hz as an option.
I keep having desktop crashes where the desktop disappears because windows explorer or word crashes leaving me with the only option to reboot how do I solve this

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using windows vista ultimate x64, and in random times when i am playing some games like worldd of warcraft, oblivion, PES 2009 etc. the computer freezes and the screen becomes full of squares of the last image i saw before the computer crashed (like: if i was casting a spell in world of warcraft i would see that very screen but with little squares, can't really describe it as it's weird). I tried re-installing video drivers and i made sure they are for x64 vista version. My computer spec is:

I try to play Warcraft III and Fifa 09 and they bouth crash...Fifa verry fast and Warcraft in 10-15 minutes. View 9 Replies View Relatedi have no idea how much information ya'll will need, so i'm gonna try to put as much as i can. forgive me if its too much. in short, while playing company of heroes my system randomly locks up, loops the last sound (usually gunfire) and the monitor goes completely white, olive/green, or blue. this usually happens after about an hour of playing. i read up on the problem, and found out that many people were having the same trouble i was. i've tried turning off dx10 and changing all of the visuals to 'high' (no ultra) which apparently has cured many other peoples' coh crashes...but it hasn't cured mine. to make matters worse, my system just crashed for the first time outside of coh today, while i was watching Internet. once again, an audio loop, and a wsod.
people have said that installing dx9 is the way to go, but that seems silly to me...and whats the deal with all these new colors of death? is microsoft trying to be a bit more colorful these days, or do they mean something? now, i wasn't really concerned about the crashes until it happened when i was surfing the web---these crashes had never happened during my marathon sessons of farcry2, or outside of coh...until today.......
I bought FM 2009 and today I finaly received it. But everty time I try to launch FM 2009 with Steam my PC crashes and turns into a blue screen with some text. it says delete the software which you just used. so I tryed to delete FM 2009 but I got the same message. some more info:

About 2 months ago I installed Vista Ultimate 64-bit on my PC. About 2 weeks ago it starting rebooting sometimes when I open something like an image file or even Internet Explorer. It doesn't happen evey time and only happens about once a day (but only when I go to open something). I want to figure this out so that I don't lose any data or end up with some data corruption. I have run the Windows memory diagnostic tool and it didn't find any issues. The only event in the Event viewer that even related to the issue, was an event logged after it finished rebooting that stated the PC was shutdown improperly.

I already have .netframe 3.5 installed and still this application as well as some other works smoothly on other OS crashes on Vista.
