I have tried to find an update to my BIOS (Phoenix Trustedcore Ver. R01-B0F), but it seems almost impossible to find! I have tried at Phoenix' homepage, but they redirect me to DriverAgent that is a driver scanning program and that costs money. It must be possible to find the update elsewhere.
View 4 RepliesI failed to flash my BIOS through Windows Vista 64 (Asus Update), now the update program cannot see any BIOS, so on attempting to start the PC again, I think it will be dead.
This OS is a complete joke.

4GB Flash will not work (Asks for driver which does not exist)
Music Keyboards don't have Vista 64 Drivers
Vista 64 will not shut down correctly (Shutting down screen freezes)
Vista 64 gives cannot locate link for Firefox shortcuts (But Firefox loads with page)
Vista 64 will not recognise my Creative Zen....
I have been building computers for a while now and have not had any problems so far that I could not solve. Now I don't know where to start. But the machine does not boot from the cd it startes normally and does not start the flash update. My bios are currently set to boot first from cd then hard drive but it does not recognize what is in the cd.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI got a new Acer Aspire M3800-U3802A desktop machine and I updated everything in Vista HP SP1 OEM. However, I did not get its IE8 since it was optional and I didn't want it yet. It does not offer me a SP2. Why is that? I read it can be picky on drivers and stuff, but which ones? Do I really have to get every driver and updates from Acer.com? I know I can get the stand alone SP2, but I would like to know why Windows Update is refusing to give me SP2.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo have an intel mobo, and there is a BIOS update for it, but the windows exe that Intel provides to flash it right from inside windows doesn't work in Vista 64 Ultimate. So My other options are to create a bootable USB stick or a bootable CD. I actually don't have a USB stick I can use for this, so I want to go the CD route. Either way I don't know how I can make a bootable Vista disk that gets me to a command prompt that I can put these bios files on so then I can run the bios update. I think this BIOS update could solve some problems I'm having getting things running smoothly.

For the last week or 2, with the exception of Windows Updates, I can't install or update almost any other program. I have been trying to update , Ad-Aware, no luck. So i uninstalled that and downloaded AVG, but that wouldn't install either.

I'm looking to invest in some extra graphics power. Don't get me wrong...my 8800gt is great, but lacks some for cerain games.. The two choices I have decided on are selling my current 8800gt for $100 to a friend and using that money to go toward a gtx 260 OR putting another 8800gt in SLI with my current one. Also, how big of a difference is there between the gtx 280 and the 260 other than money and RAM?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I install drivers I get the message that my BIOS is out of date (including updates from AMD) if I go to the Phoenix site it says go to the motherboard manufacturer or run Biosagent if you use this you pay for the update but you do get this info so is it worth e-mail gateway support, using the boisagent or just leave well alone.

My brother has just built a computer and can't get it working. The problem is that when he starts it he gets to the screen where he can choose to enter BIOS. 9/10 times he can't do anything from there but 1/10 times he can press delete and then it says "loading bios" but it freezes there (he waited 30 mins nothing happened). Does anyone know what the problem mihht be?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running Vista Home Premium SPA, 2 GB RAM, Firefox, Spyware Doctor, MBAM, SAS and CCleaner, Office 2007. I also have Spyware doctor installed on a Windows 7 laptop. Can anyone tell me (or redirect me) if my Spyware Doctor scanner (or any other scheduled scanner) runs when the computer is either sleeping or is in hibernate mode?
My Spyware Doctor history file suggest that it's been several weeks since the last scheduled scan, yet the scanner scheduler is set to run every night. We close the laptop cover each night and I'm not sure if closing the cover stops the scheduled scan from running.
Someone has suggested a possible 'cure' for the many Win Mail probs I am experiencing would be for me to:-
1, Uninstall my McaFee
2. Then install another anti-virus prog ("AVG") disabling "just the part that scans email".
Sorry if I am being dumb but surely that would result in my leaving myself wide open to even more probs (i.e. importing viruses)?
1) My brother plugged in a pen drive in my laptop which contained viruses at that time i had norton internet security 11.0 which hang during scanning the usb drive.
2)the virus was transfered anyhow without opening any file in my laptop then i manually deleted unrecognized files and folders including desktop.ini this i think was main virus i know its a config file but there was 100 of this files.
3)everytime whether i insert a blank cd,dvd or data cd dvd it always showed me that files ready to be written on disk and the file was hidden guess what was it it was DESKTOP.INI and 3 days before i burn a mp3 cd using roxio media creator and since then my dvd drive has gone... it automatically ejects when i insert blank or data cd dvd and the msg is given to me that "there is no disk into drive please insert cd"......
I am running Vista Ultimate - my computer is directly networked to the main computer and is set up for printer - file - etc sharing. Attached to the main computer is a Lexmark X5470 multi purpose printer. From my machine I can print with no problem at all , but I cannot get the scanner to operate!. In my network sharing centre - the printers are shown as X 5470 as a printer and also a seperate X 5470 as a Fax.

I have run the System Restore Function to the oldest stored point, before a HP update which is the only update that I can see on there.
It will start quite happily in safe mode, I did the msconfig thing and turned off all the bits in as per another thread and all the start up stuff but the problem was still there. I am now well and truly out of my comfort zone.
I have a problem with my PC (vista). It just freezes randomly while I am working on it. It also freezes during the Antivirus scanning (avast), windows defender scanning and windows update. I cannot do anything except turn it of manually (ON/OFF). It also freezes when I insert a usb drive, and recently is making strange sounds (beebs,toot) as some creatures are living inside it. (It also freezes in safe mood). Moreover, a blue screen appeared morethan once and I don't know if the problem is due to a virus or an error in the system.
