Arranging Attachments Photo E-mail:
Sep 29, 2009
I have Windows Vista Premium Home and Windows Mail. I was wondering if anybody can tell me how to arrange my photo attachments in an e-mail in such a way that the "before" photos are seen first and then the "after" photos next(alternatively). Like this:
1 Before Judy
1 After Judy
2 Before Lucy
2 After Lucy
3 Before Bianca
3 After Bianca... and so on.
It also doesn't help if I attach the photos in the specific order one by one. I am a make-up artist and whenever I attach the photos in a specific order, then it still comes up scrambled. Please tell me what to do to be able to arrange my e-mail attachments the way I want them to be arranged. My other question is this: I have a relatively new computer and the typing went well for the first few months, then suddenly typing became weird, (letters are either left out or repeated or the spacebar leaves too many spaces,..............

When I send a photo attachment in a Windows Mail message the photo is sent BOTH as an attachment AND in the body of the message, and messages seem to take forever to send.
I am using Vista Home Premium. My mail sending format is HTML and I have unchecked the "send pictures with messages" box in the set HTML settings.

When receiving attachments with logo or photos (word or excel) I cannot open them. I get the above message. Then I get the message "file format may not be supported by any of the installed convertors or the file may be corrupt". If I instruct not to convert the doc opens but without photos or logos. If I forward same email and attachment to another computer running windows xp there is no problem opening the file.

In my previous Outlook I was able to arrange my emails by clicking VIEW, ARRANGE BY, and then checking BY EMAIL ACCOUNT. This option doesn't appear available with my new Windows Mail, so our two accounts receive mail as one.

Using right click on photo then selecting send to and mail recipient the following appears in the body of the e-mail: "Your message is ready to be sent with the following file or link attachments: (Photo file name) Note: To protect against computer viruses, e-mail programs may prevent sending or receiving certain types of file attachments. Check your e-mail security settings to determine how attachments are handled." Photo is attached to the e-mail and the photo file name appears in the subject line. Any way to eliminate the above from showing in the e-mail?

Is it possible when viewing photos in Vista photo gallery to display my picture files in an order other than by name, date taken or file size etc.. ie the options offered under 'the sort by' feature. I would like to customise each folder to display the photos in an order of my choosing but this does not appear possible for the photo gallery in vista or the live photo library i have just downloaded and installed.

For the last couple of weeks when I receive mail with attached pdf files, if I try to move or delete the mail Windows Mail hangs. Sometime it recovers but otherwise I need to kill it. I can open the attachment by clicking on the paper clip etc and everything seems fine so I don't think it's a security thing.

I recently bought a new Vista, and saved a few pictures off of the internet, and saved them to my 'Downloads' folder. I went to preview them(in Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Live Photo Gallery, Paint, and Picture Manager), and they would not show up.
there were 27 files: 11 PNG, 2 GIF, and 14 JPEG. 3 JPEG and2 PNG will work, but the rest won't. I attempted to upload them to photobucket, with the same results.

Starting about 2 weeks ago, I can't open attachments in Windows Mail. Message says "command failed to execute" I have been reading the posts and still don't know what to do. How do I know if IE8 has been installed as an update? I'm inexperienced with technical stuff. I don't think I installed it, could it have installed on it's own as an update? Tried saving them to desktop but don't know how to separate them from the e-mail, so they still don't open.

Recently I was unable to open attachments at all, after uninstalling IE8 I
can now open PPS files but when I try to open a PDF attachment it opens up
Microsoft Office Picture Manager. The only way I can view the attachment is
to save it to another folder and then open it with Adobe 9.1.

Lately I have found that my Videos sent as attachments in my Windows Mail on Vista are failing to open when I double click. What occurs is that they play, but in the backround with the original e-mail still in view. To see the attachment video I have to click on the icon (i have now on the taskbar) to view the video playing. The previous video attachments, those, which I had save on hard drive are also doing the same if I want to view them. This has just began, for before, once I double clicked I could view them right away.

I'm running Vista, and I've recently ran into a problem. I've always normally been able to open up my attachments that are videos by the usual double click, a futher window pops up to Open, indicating that it'll open up using Windows Media Player, I clicked on Open and it would begin. Now when I do the aforementioned and the window comes up and I click on open, it begins playing, however to view it I have to click on the icon Windows Media Player before the actual e-mail will disappear and the video is able to be viewed. Why would this have just occurred, has it something maybe due to their recent updates etc.

Most of the time when I attempt to open attachments (Media files such as jpg, mpg, wmv, etc.) the file does not open but I receive a message that OE cannot fnd the file. Usually, if I close OE and reopen, it will operate properly. Sometimes it is necessary to close and reopen more than one time. This never occurred prior to installing IE8. I am using Vista (64) home premium.

I have opened an attachment (word doc) from an e-mail, worked on it in Word (2007), and saved it. I then forward the e-mail and before sending it, open the attachment to check it, only to find that he changes I made are not there. Where does Mail/Word save the copy of the attachment I saved? Does Vista have temporary folders that it saves these files to similar to XP and, if so, where can I find these?

my dodgy mail issue is back. Any HTML emails sent to me from Outlook appear as plain text and attachments are missing. I know for a fact that the gateway server they go through does NOT turn them into RTF or anything... It was all working fine and then it stopped. I am beginning to assume it's a problem intermittently caused by Norton AV (360 v3.0 I'm running). I have disabled email scanning but no dice.

Recently bought a Dell Inspiron laptop from Future Shop and having a
couple of challenges:
1. Regarding standard text signature at the end of an e-mail: I set up
going through tools, options, signature and want it to appear at the end
of each originally created e-mail and the end of each reply or
forward...in Arial and font size of 10. Works fine when I create an
e-mail, but for a reply or a forward appears as Times New Roman.
Anything I can do to ensure always shows as Arial?
2. Regarding attachments received with an e-mail: often unable to open
when I click on. Someone suggested saving the attachment to the desk top
and then opening...generally works but a pain to save. Someone suggested
the problem is that I don't have full Microsoft Office suite on the
laptop just what came with it-Microsoft Works. Attachements being sent
are not unusual...generally Word, Excel, PDF or PowerPoint. Any
suggestion so that I don't have to save to desktop?
3. Last question...laptop came with a webcam, the workings of which I
am new to. Doesn't always open/work when I click on its icon...window
opens and says " please plug in a supported webcam". Sometimes when I
unplug from internet and reboot computer the webcam works.
