I would like to run Advanced Systemcare, however Vista-64 is telling me I need administrative permission. How do I gain permission for this app? Also, anyone know if running this app will cause problems within Vista?

Than, (after 1. installing latest Windows Vista upgrades, and 2. installing and viewing the latest FreshUI but not making any changes), IE would only run if I Rt clicked and selected RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. If I only Left clicked the IE window would open, and then quickly (1-2 sec) close again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe bought a new laptop yesterday. Until now we both had our own. So we both have our own stuff we want to move there. We set up two accounts, both with admistrator permissions. But we would like those accounts to not "work" together. Like for example, we don't want our pictures, music etc to be seen from the other ones account. But now it does. We both want to put them to the D drive and only see our own stuff. Because it gets really confusing with the amount of stuff we have. So when I go somewhere, I only want to see the things I have put there, not his things. How do we do this? Also I noticed that if he or I remove something from the desktop, it goes away from the other account as well. That is really not something I want. I want the accounts to sort of work like two different computers.

Since the Power User isn't available in Vista Home I wold ike to make the main user a standard user. I have the admin account enabled, but I would like it to be visiblle on the login screen. The laptop is for a cousin going off to college. I will give him the admin password, but he'll be instructed to use the normal account except when he installs stuff. I want to set the machine up so he has the easy login screen with Administrator and his name as the two choices. How can I get the admin account to show up there?

After reading: how to enable windows mail tutorial. Windows mail still will not start? I have enabled the "hidden" admin account and windows mail works fine - configured got email, logged off, logged on still working. BUT in my normal account but still an admin account, no other accounts on system. Windows mail will not start :mad: have downloaded the reg file and that has done its job. Logged of, still nothing, switched off - still won't work.

It has 320 Gb and 260 Gb are occupied so since I only have 80 Gb on the HD, I was trying to fix the problem.Well instead to fix the problem I made a mess somehow I changed the users and Admin' options, and I changed all the permissions to the accounts two accounts!! I was trying to get control of the system like a TrustedInstaller.instead.the laptop works but I have no access to anything!
Right now I basically have no permission only reading NO ACCESS to the hard disk ...no access to most of the systems' folders .
In prompt I can not really do anything since it denies every my request.
I am SO bored, because everything in Vista must Allow or Deny. And even though i ALLOW, ME, the ADMINISTRATOR, THE OWNER from the Computer has the acess Denied. Thats dumb, i think. i was wondering, how can i Take Ownership from my WHOLE computer and have the Full Permission from just everything. In a way to grant Acess to whole Notebook. How do i do it? I know its possible cause in a Modified Windows Version it was like that.

I used my IDE to USB 2.0 adapter and hooked up the HDD to my new Vista machine. Problem: While I can access, view, and copy all other files, I cannot access the My Documents folder because I don't have permissions. Well, let me clarify that - I can see the files, but I get the permissions error when I attempt to open or copy the files, individually, in groups, or by parent folder.Duh. Everytime I open them I get a little box that says "User account control" "A program needs your permission to continue". This is a real PIA. How do I eliminate this without turning UAC off?

On my C: drive they're called windows.old.5 or windows.old.4 etc. They are taking up half the space on my hard drive! Any time I try to delete them it tells me that i need permission to perform this action, but I am the only person who uses the laptop as it is mine. What can I do? I have looked at other threatds with this problem, I have made myself administrator, tried taking ownership over the files, and they still won't delete.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi've installed vista in my primary hd and i use a second hd for data. In this second hd i can't change the permission of the folders (i've got a folder with read only permission that i can't remove). I've already add the permision to Vista users and I've changed the owner to SYSTEM too but without luck. When i open the disk propeties then to Security tab i can still see the old xp user (the uid) that i've previously removed, then after a second all the current user/permmision appear.

Problem is that I click on the setup.exe icon and the "A Program Needs Your Permission to Continue" box pops up, I say 'continue' and the box goes away. From that point on, nothing happens AT ALL. Nothing happens when I hit edit, so I can't change anything back. Nothing happens when I hit cancel. So, my only option is to hit ok, but this gives me the attached error messages.
Should I use task manager to end the task? What are the dangers of "an inconsistent state" as displayed in the last error screen? Is there a utility I can use to set the ownership and permissions back to there original status?
i installed World of Warcraft and it's expansions and started patching it. When patching from 3.1.0 to 3.1.1, the process kept stoping and 70% then just exit without returning any error in return. So i thought i should run the Repair tool and try again. Only now, when i tried to access WoW.exe i got this error: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
So i came upon this little reg file called Take Ownership, i ran it but nothing has changed. Also, if i: right click wow.exe->properties->compatibility i cannot tick the "Run this program as an administrator" box. My only options now, are a complete reinstall of the game and patches (but that's just wrong, because there has to be a more logical solution).
I have Vista home premium with SP1. When I SE it up, I chose not to pay attention to the suggestion that I create a USER account. I'm the only person who touches this computer, so I prefer not to have to type a password to start it all. My account is OWNER. Looking in help files etc., it seems to me that I should therefor have complete authority to do things that only an administrator is allowed to do, but I sometimes get messages that "permission is needed." I'm the owner, I'm the admisistrator, I'm the only one who touches it. Who do I go to to meekly ask if I can do something?
