Activation: "The Windows Vista Home Premium Product Key You Typed Is Invalid For Activation"
Mar 26, 2008
My laptop came with Vista Home Premium installed. I downloaded a Flash-BIOS update as per advice of my HP Care Centre. After it was done installing my laptop shut off (as I was told it would do). When I turned it back on, I was prompted to enter a Product Activation Key. I entered the Windows Product Key as shown on the sticker on the base of the laptop. The message I received was "The Windows Vista Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for activation" For the record, YES, I am entering the code in properly.

i turned it on i was shown the above error message on a black background, with three options - 1. Access your computer with reduced functionality 2. Enter different product key 3. These are my only options, i have no access to deskstop, or start key etc. I have reentered my product key numerous times and also reentered a new product key given to me by microsoft customer support on the telephone but neither was accepted and i received the following error message with both product keys: Code 0xc004f050 . The people on the microsoft customer support number could not help me any more and refered me to Medion, who referred me back to microsoft! I have not performed any updates to Vista or uninstalled any drivers etc.
Last night, all was well with my computer. Woke up this morning with a black desktop (icons still intact) and a window stating. "The Windows Vista Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for activation."
My choices are: *Buy a new product key online *Type a different product key *Contact Dell to help resolve this problem
Dell has not been very helpful to me in the past so I hesitate to call them.(My Dell came pre-installed with Vista. I installed SP1 a couple weeks ago without incident.) I made NO changes to my computer between last night and this morning.
I was redirected to a window that said "The Windows Vista Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for activation" -- quite a surprise, considering that Vista had worked near-perfectly for the 4 months that I've had my laptop, and that I've never had to key in a product key before! When I chose the option to manually type the product key, I received error message 0xCD004F050 with several warnings that I might be the victim of counterfeit software (again, quite a surprise!). I called the vendor's (Lenovo) customer support line, but the representative told me that I needed to get in touch with Microsoft. I called MS's customer support, but didn't want to pay a representative, especially if the only solution is to purchase another version of Vista.......
When I purchased Vista Home Premium Upgrade a year ago, I upgraded from XP and did a "clean install" that allowed me to wipe my C drive and start from scratch. I did a 2nd clean install a week ago to start over again after experiencing slow response and wanting to start fresh. I'm now getting an activation notice and when I enter the code, I'm told this version cannot be used for a clean install and that I have to purchase another license. Who can I contact to resolve this issue as I paid for the Vista upgrade and the 1st install a year ago went just fine with no activiation issues?
I bought HP Laptop 9 months back, which came with vista home premium with it. now it is running very slowly. So i want to format and reinstall the vista home premium. My Question is do I need to get the activation key for the reinstall also(i have product key of the previous installation)? is it legal to reinstall home premium with the product key that i have?
I recently tried to upgrade from Vista Basic to Vista Premium but the activation key didn't work. So I recovered Vista Basic from the windows.old file but there is still a corrupt version of Vista Premium on my hard disk. how to remove it?
I recently received a new computer with all new parts that had Windows XP Media Center Edition on it. I had my copy of the upgrade disc for Windows Vista Home Premium and wanted to upgrade. Well now Windows is telling me that my Product ID has expired and when I try to re-enter the ID it says it is not valid, even though it is a legitimate copy of Windows Vista. I did have this installed on another computer but then reverted back to XP for other reasons. Is there any way to get my system registered without buying another product key?
my windows vista is not working! yesterday it was ok but today when i turned on my computer it was not working and nothing is coming out. it says that invalid product key and BUILD 6000 or something like that. How am i gonna fix it?i can't even see my desktop. its just black desktop and nothings coming out
I have been using Vista Home Premium for about 6 months now, no problems. My PC overheated and I fried my motherboard, processor and ram. I have now upgraded to a quad core system and reinstalled Vista. Now it's asking me to activate and when I try I get the error message that my product key is already in use. I have now got 27 days left to activate and don't know how to.
I bought a upgrade version (Vista Home Premium) yesterday and did a clean install (backup'd files I still needed). Everything is working fine accept for the fact that i can't activate Vista. When i enter my product key it says that this version is meant for upgrade and not for a new install. I found that a bitt odd because I had to clean install. Anyway, now i'm trying to get a new license key and I keep getting this error: Error We are unable to process your order at this time. Please try again later. Error Code: 1067
My daughter has a dell laptop with Windows Vista installed by Dell. She has had the computer for 9 months. Today while trying to startup her computer, she got a message that her VISTA product key is invalid. Of course the recommendations involve getting on line with the computer which will not open windows. The other resolutoin suggested is to type in the product key on the computer. I am reluctant to do that since it says that if VISTA does not start up then Windows will be lost and the computer may not work at all.
I just applied SP1 to Vista Business 32 bit. It's now requiring me to Activate Windows and says that the activation key that it grabbed from my machine was already in use. DUH!!!!!! No kidding....I only have 1 Vista Business computer and only one key. What gives? Found this on the KB articles: Cause 1: Changes to hardware or to hardware device drivers are detected. Part of the Windows Genuine process requires that you reactivate your computer when certain hardware is changed or when certain hardware device drivers are changed. Windows Vista Service Pack 1 may update some installed device drivers. Therefore, you may be prompted to activate Windows Vista again. I can understand that....but it still will NOT allow me to activate my computer!!!!
i have just bought a machine from a friend and with it was given windows vista 64 bit. Being paranoid I did a full format and installed everything from scratch using the vista disk and product key supplied.I have the original hologram disk and case and the sticker which i have placed onto my computer case as directed however when i try to activate via the net i am told that the product is already registered and i need to purchase another licence the software is only installed on one machine what do i need to do.
I am not sure if I have been scammed by the seller of my computer or if I have some other issues that are causing my validation to be required. In one place it says that I may be a victim of software counterfeiting. When I chose to go online and resolve it will not validate. In the other place it says to activate windows now. I purchased the computer in November 2007 and haven't had any problems until this month. Is it a coincedence that it has been 6 months? Today is my last day to activate and would like to know the best steps to take to resolve this issue.
When I try to activate my newly installed Windows Vista Enterprise an error message appears saying: DNS-naam bestaat niet. (in English DNS-name doesn't exist). So I'm unable to activate my Windows Vista. This may result in problems within 3 days. My vista license is a MS-KISS license.
I have a new Vista home premium (fullversion) but when i install for the first time it say that my vista license is already in use? i have purchase it for many month ago,but not install it before now, somebody have likely stolen the key!? is there anything i can do??can microsoft somehow delete my Windows Vista activation (or my Product key?) can i somehowe prove that i own a fullversion?? some other number maybe on the box?

just been looking at the windows activation page on my new PC, Where it says product ID: it has a list of numbers in this order= 5 numbers - 3 numbers - 7 numbers - 5 numbers Non of these numbers match what is on the sticker on the back of the machine! On that sticker it's a mix of numbers and letters. Do I just click continue with the line of numbers which is already there, or do I insert the number and letter combination which is on my sticker?
I posted this in another forum and one person said the id that is already there and the key on the sticker should be different! The other person said delete the numbers and put the letter and numbers from the sticker in there!
I had to replace my motherboard because of a power surge (I've now bought protection - better late than never!) and when I tried to boot up my computer I got a message saying that Vista couldn't boot but it would try and repair the installation. In the event it couldn't and it asked for the installation disc. Vista installed OK but it would no longer accept the Product Key saying that my disc was for an upgrade (correct) and not for a clean installation. ObviouI now appear to have two expensive choices:
1 To buy a new key or 2 To ask for Windows technical support which I have to pay for
I'm Khairil Anuar from ITServices Sdn Bhd, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, one of the participant of Heroes Launch 2008 in Kuala Lumpur. I have some questions that need clarification regarding the Windows Vista Ultimate DVD.
1. I had received the DVD, registered and received the product key. 2. I had chosen "5000 or more" machines for the DVD when first registered. 3. I had no problem installing WVU on the first 2 machines. However, on the 3rd and 4th machines, I received an error message when trying to activate WVU. I was informed that the product key has already been used by other machines and I was asked to buy another product key?
Is it possible to purchase a windows vista home basic product key on line? I'd like to validate an illegal installation (inherited). Couldn't see the facility on the MS web site. Or would I be better just to go to the store and buy the package (solely for the product key)
Whenever I start Firefox on my Vista home premium 64 bit system, I always get a window asking me what I would like my home page and search engine to be. I check yahoo for my home page and my search engine, check "don't ask me again" and save. However when I start firefox again, it goes to the firefox welcome page and the same box pops up again. Anybody know what's going on? This is a recent phenomenon, and happens no matter which search engine or home page I select.
I am running Windows Vista Premium Home SP1. When I boot my computer, Windows Defender doesn't start automatically. It works fine if I start it manually. I have never run Windows OneCare, MSCONFIG shows it set to start, the Windows Defender service is set to automatic and Tools | Options has all the checkboxes checked.
I just removed Ipswitch's WS_FTP 2007, but the system sounds associated with the program did not uninstall with it. How do I manually remove the system sounds in Control Panel? Windows Vista Home Premium SP2
I turned DEP off by reading the vistax64 forum. when i rebooted, a big problem raised. windows vista ( home premium ) crashed to continue. i selected safe mode and other F8 choices...but still problem is there. then I used Vista DVD to repair startup...problem not solved. I used system restore...but not worked.
I'm getting the following error message when Windows Mail (Vista 64 Home Premium SP1) tries to send e-mails from my laptop: The connection to the server has failed. Subject ..., Account: 'verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E. Downloading incoming mail is not a problem, and I obviously can post to newsgroups. Although this is a new problem, I turned off Norton's checking of outgoing mail - no change. Verizon had us change to Port 587 last year so that's not the issue either. WM does send e-mail from my desktop so apparently the problem is specific to the laptop.
I've been running my legit copy of vista ultimate upgrade for a year, now suddenly after sp1 installed I see a little reference to activation "1 day to activate windows!!!. So I activate and get " The product key you typed is already in use" !!! Well yes - -that's me so what now from the options of use automated phone system- - -contact Microsoft to help resolve problem?? I'm going to get charged for this??
