Window Named COMMON With Folder Bin
Jun 26, 2005Everytime i start op windows XP, it shows a window named COMMON with the
folder BIN How do i deal with this problem?

Common Folder - No Common Folder Listed.
Jun 16, 2010upon my start up a Common folder which incldudes drivers pops up. This has recently started. I am not sure why but I am trying to stop this. Please help and let me know if i should be concerned. I have already checked under my startup tab but no common folder listed.

'common' appears, inside the folder is another folder titled 'bin', inside
'bin' are four files titled 'iviaudio.ax', 'ivinav.ax', 'iviaudioeff.ax' and
'ivivideo.ax'. This folder didn't used to come up so i guess i have done
something, how can i repair it to stop it appearing?
Moving My "Common Files" Folder
Sep 18, 2005I just built a new computer and installed Windows XP Pro with SP2 on it. When I set up my hard drive and OS, I partitioned my lone hard drive into three partitions: 10 Gb C: drive for Windows, drivers, etc., and a pair of 111 Gb drives for things like program installs. I noticed that my C: drive is filling up rather rapidly, and I discovered that Program FilesCommon Files is taking up a considerable amount of space. I would like to move this folder onto one of my bigger partitions, but I'm not sure how to do it without screwing up all my programs. Any direction on this matter (that doesn't involve re-partitioning and starting from scratch) would be appreciated.

Feb 21, 2006When I start up my pc a folder by the name of "Common" always pops up for no reason and is completely empty and needs to die because it is starting to annoy me ^_^ It starts before anything else including my virus scanner and if I close it before the other things are loaded it appears again I don't think it's related to adware or any viruses etcetera I keep my computer pretty clean. The folder isn't registered in my startup files which is why I wonder what the hell it's there for. If anyone knows how to fix this annoying problem please reply. I don't know the file path or anything because I have a problem showing the path in folders but that's something I can live with, a "common" file that comes up every time I login is not!My computer is a Sony Vaio RS100 running windows XP service pack 2.

Next thing I know, every time I try to open a folder, it does a "Search" instead -- so I try to change this by adding a new "Action" (open).Now, what happens, (and which is my problem), is that a new window opens whenever I open a folder. The option for "Open each folder in the same window" is set.

First problem: With a complete disaccordance with my screen settings, my system tray icons are all coloured in 16 colors instead of 32 bit. May 25, 2007i have XP Pro Basically I was messing around in file types because my folder icons were botched. Ran TweakUI to fix folder icons, but here is what happened. double clicking a folder opened the search window. So i went into file types and created a new action, and pointed it at explorer.exe from my windows directory. Now, the problem is, when i double click it opens the folder in a new window, instead of the same.
when I am in the advanced settings of file types (tools-folder options-file types) the Edit and Remove buttons will not light up, but i am the administrator. Restore defaults doesn't work.
Is there a backend way to fix this anyone knows of, short of reformatting ?? system restore to a previous date did nothing.

It will not do it. I can only open one folder view at a time. What am I doing wrong? Jun 22, 2006I have a Dell Latitude D610 Laptop, running on OEM Windows XP Pro SP2.I am a web developer, and naturally I would have development tools installed in my machine, including Microsoft Visual Studio (2003 and 2005), and Sql Server (2000 and 2005) and I have noticed an increase in my startup time. So i decided to set Sql Server to not automatically load its services on startup, so I can simply fire them up when I need them. As a result of this, i was able to decrease the startup time of my machine.However, lately although I haven't installed any other softwares, I noticed that again the startup time increased. I'm looking through the processes running in my machine as soon as I start up, and I found out that the processes are mostly "legitimate" processes (with the help of the Internet, as I've researched on each and every process). I have however found one process that ran by the SYSTEM, with the name WC72F4.exe. I have searched the internet and found no info on this. Even the mighty google doesn't have info on this. Anybody who can shed some light on this?

The reason I need to know is because I have 600 files spread out in many different folders, on several different hard drives and I want to make shortcuts to them and place the shortcuts into 1 folder. I don't fancy renaming 600 files just to remove the "Shortcut To" at the beginning of each filename.

He might have done some other things cause ever since that day, any time I try to shut down windows, a message comes up telling me a program named "Sample" is not responding. I have to click the "End Now" box at the bottom and another identical message pops up. I click the button again and then everything shuts down normally.
