When I try to play a movie file on my PC, I get al these lines all over the screen, then my PC's monitor click on and off like I am changing the resolution. This only has started heppening since i played a movie I got from a website. Also, this problem happens to all my video files, no matter what program I use to play them.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running W2K Pro on a IBM laptop and I have a movie file I downloaded from Limewire, it was supposed to be a funny cartoon but after trying to open it I just got some noise and a blank WMP screen, so I was going to delete the file, but when I right click and chose delete it won't delete, the propertys also won't display and I get a box that says they are unavailable, I also can't move the file at all, I tried to delete in Safe Mode but that didn't work either, I ran Ad-Aware, Spybot and have the free version of AVG and none of them found any bad stuff installed, the computer works fine but I just want to get rid of this file,

THEN, my computer begins running slow and i have to restart my pc. I tried the same procedure in Safe Mode, but the same thing happened. Any advice as to how i can delete this file?

I then tried to play it with windows media player and it did'nt work. So, I decided to just delete it but I keep getting this errror message: CANNOT DELETE THIS FILE IT IS BEING USED BY ANOTHER PERSON OR PROGRAM. CLOSE ANY PROGRAMS THAT MIGHT BE USING THE FILE AND TRY AGAIN. I dont have any other programs that are using this file. I deleted the file sharing program the file came from b/c it had adware.

I downloaded a file a while ago.Its a DVD file.The site i used is an official site. The download appeared on my desktop.I then moved the file to "Microsoft My Private Folder".When it was moved i clicked on the file and the PC turned off.I restarted the computer and tried to right click on the file and the same thing happened.I then went to C Drive,All programs and tried to delete "Microsoft My Private Folder but that didnt work eiter.Access was denied.I ran a virus check and it was ok no virus.I have Windows XP on a HP Desktop.

This error is driving me nuts.
Not matter what drive I select, no matter what files I use as a source, I STILL GET THIS ERROR.
I have 2 hard drives, one with 35 gigs free space, the other with 90 gigs of free space. I have 2 gigs of RAM. AMD 64 3700+ processor.
i have a dell inspiron 7500 with windows 200 installed on it. i just tried to play a music cd and wmp said it "cannot play the file b/c there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly". i ran diagnostics and it came back with no errors on the Audio port. i was able to hear all of the sound test w/o any issues. I have updated the drivers for windows 2000 on my laptop also. I checked for question marks or exclamation mark in Device Manager! Did not have any there? I also uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. when i go to properties for the sound drivers everything is grayed out!

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhenever I try to play music it doesnt play, it says low on memory, whenever I open any Microsoft Word program it gives me some error about a license, and whever I try to copy and paste anything, it doesnt let me. I have a few partitions on my hard drive and whenever I copy one file or a folder or anything, I cannot paste it anywhere. If I open Control Panel, the screen doesnt appear as usual, all the icons are on two columns on the lft side with a scroll bar next to them. If I try to open Add/Remove programs, it comes up all garbled. I was going to just reformat the whole computer but it will not boot from the cd rom drive now. And whenever the computer is booted in W2K and I try to browse the CD in My Computer, it just says "Please insert disk in drive...." Also, whenevr I restart, it sits on my desktop for about 5 minutes before it finally brings up the icons and everything. It has never done any of this, it just started this morning.

I have a SONY DVD RW AV-G170A installed on my Dual Processor Pentium PC. There are some Movie DVD's which I can play and view movies perfectly. The drive recognizes the media and plays the movies But there are some DVD's which when inserted in the drive are not recognised by Windows AT ALL - under any circumstances. It says "Windows cannot read from the this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows"
THE DVD ROM IS WORKING PERFECTLY OK WITH OTHER SOME MOVIE DVD'S AND SOME DVD'S GIVING THE ABOVE MENTIONED PROBLEM.
When I go to Microsoft's site for this program I read that it needs to be downloaded with SP2. Now, my o/s (Win XP Pro SP2) and Office 2003 has all the latest updates completed (no failures). Why and how would I download SP2 with Movie Maker 2.1 when I already have SP2? How can I download Movie maker 2.1 on its own?

Last weekend I bougth a DVD Movie hoping to see it on my laptop, but when I insert the disc nothing happen. I had installed the PoverDvd 5 and I figure could be a software issue so I upgrade to Poverdvd 6 and the same nothing happen. Actually I can read and write CD even audio CD. The error that show poverdvd is "No disk in Drive D:" if I search with the explorer the conten of the unit is empty. I follow the "technical support and help" process without succesfull. so what we need to do in order to watch my DVD Movie?Also I can't see a Data DVD.

However there is no upgrade for my movie making program for XP SP2. I lake SP2 since I have worked out the bugs and would like to keep it. Can I Reinstall windows XP on another partition on my hard drive so I can boot to this installation when I work with Adobe premiere(my movie making program) and Pinnacle DV500(my capture card) And if so how big of a partition should I set-up.
