View 8 RepliesI have a wierd problem on my PC (running Windows Media edition 2005, essentially Windows XP !!). Whenever I boot my computer I get the following error from System32:svchosts.exe System32:svchosts.exe - Entry Not found The procedure "_aed_fptan" in the DLL "MSVBVM60.DLL" not found Once I say "OK", everything works well and the computer does not complain again until I shut it down and restart the computer. I have the Original OS from Sony with all the latest updates. I also tried to install Service pack 3 from the Windows site. I also tried to fix the registry and reinstalled MSVBVM60.DLL from the Windows site , but some how the error keeps poping up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEvery time I put it in the system32 folder, it changed into msvbvm60.dll.xxx (xxx = random digits) I need msvbvm60.dll for an application that won't work unless it's installed... it gives me "Unable To Locate Component - This application has failed to start because MSVBVM60.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I've installed VB6 but it still has the same problem.

My computer is about 2 years old. In those two years, I had to re-install Windows XP and everything else on my computer...for reasons unknown...I recently performed a New Installation of Windows XP on my computer. I don't have alot of things installed on my computer. The total space all the programs in my Add and Remove programs file takes up is only 1GB. Since I had to start over and re-install everything and my programs only add up to 1GB, Shouldn't I have more free space ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedNothing else on the partition except XP. Swap file, different partition. Apps, different partition. When I loaded XP on this partition perhaps a year ago, it had plenty of space. Now it's full. I've run the usual XP disk cleanup helper, deleted everything in any temp file I can find, cleaned out prefetch, moved all the NTUninstall folders to a different partition. Uninstalled unused apps, since I know they leave stuff in C: even though I've installed them somewhere else). I gained nearly 400MB when I did that, but now the space is back down to 80MB in less than a week. Where is all this bloat coming from? What can I do to trim it back down to size? Yea, I have PartitionMagic (old, v8), but I'd rather just trim the excess, if that's possible. I get nervous moving partitions around.

View 11 Replies View RelatedWindows XP uses a file called hiperfil.sys to save everything it needs when Windows XP goes into hibernation. If you are like me, and never use the hibernate function, you can turn it off. By turning hibernate off, Windows XP deletes the hiberfil.sys. This can free up the as much disk space as the amount of ram that you computer has.Go to Control Panel/Power Options/Hibernation and untick the box. It's as easy as that. Now you will have plenty more disk space to install those mega programs!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to transfer a 4GB file to my external hard drive, which is said to have (under My Computer) 46.3GB free. It keeps giving me a "Cannot copy file. not enough free disk space. Is there some max size for a file that you can transfer to a hard drive? I've never heard of that.. but I guess anything is possible.
