A common problem Im sure, but I cannot fix:When Im browing with I.E., or opening emails in Outlook,images or video clips are not shown. There is a blank box with a smallwhite square and cross in the top right corner.
I have tried downloading Flash Player but this does not seem to help
While transferring video clips from my digital camera to my computer, the media players show images upside down. There is no problem when transferring to other computers.

I have to load small instructional video clips and it will run for a second or two and says buffering.I am not sure what it is I tried to look at my Vertiual memory but I do not understand what it should be set for.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have thought that my Internet explorer was messed up.So I downloaded Mozilla, I still think that it is messed up but I have another problem now, The thing that is messed up with internet explorer is when you go to a website like utube.com or street fire.net to watch a video on internet explorer it would show the video for a split second and then it would disappear, but when you went on to mozilla and went to any website with any video it was fine. so i thought it was a problem with internet explorer, then the problem proceeded to windows media player, the computer would rather free or restart itself with any program that played videos, so you would think the problem is with the video card, well that what i was thinking because i have been having this problem all night with windows movie maker trying to make a video it would restart itself, well i finally got so fedup that i sent the error report after it recovered from a serious error and it popped up a microsoft help page saying it was a video driver error, so i updated it restarted same problem so i went to display advanced did what it said same problem but the send error report popped up a different error this time said it was from a device driver but it didnt know which one and it wanted me to test direct draw, where it shows u black and white triangles and such and asks you if you saw them, well on the third part of the test where it shows a white ball bouncing full screen it showed that then flashed the blue screen with tons of words and restarted and same thing when you try it again, so my question is, what could this be? I just want to fix all of my video problems. I went into my device manager and it says that the device is currently functioning properly. And if you are going to respond please explain well because I am not very computer savvy I just know a little.

The situation is I've got a computer running XP, but the hard drive is a little too small. I had a larger hard drive in my 98 machine and I've slaved that drive and installed it in this computer. I've moved everything I need to the C drive temporarily and I want to reformat the D drive to wipe out everything on it. Problem is, I know how to do it from a DOS prompt but XP doesn't seem to have one. How do I format this drive (mainly want to get rid of the operating system)?

I then shut my computer down to restart it, used it a few times (in 4-bit safe mode), then after I shutdown again, I cant log back in... it just freezes and the screen flashes, I cannot boot into my computer setup (default f2) or into safe mode (default f8), however I can run the XP cd and get into the recovery console, is there any way that I can change the boot sequence from the recovery console? The screen is dotted with a bunch of dots up and down the screen in columns, and is in 4-bit video mode.
I have a Dell xps gen 5 with xp home.
the error I get is:
"Error: Cant enter setup. Video Mode 103 not supported by this video card."
I have managed to put video footage onto my PC from a video cassette (by plugging my VCR into the TV aerial socket). The video footage is saved on my PC as .mpg files & when I open them, they play fine on Windows Media Player.When I import them on to Windows Movie Maker, they are recognised as video footage and I am able to put them into the collections as video. However, for some reason, when I drag them onto the timeline, they go onto the audio line & I can't get them to go on the video line, so when I play it, the sound plays but there is no picture. I have tried saving them as .AVI files but that makes no difference
I have window XP SP2 installed on my laptop. I also use InterVideo WinDVD Creator for video editing. Recently when I try to import video file into my application, my laptop, processing percentage goes up to 98%, and the application just freezes up. I also tried the Microsoft movie maker software and I get the same result. I was wondering if I need to reinstall the application or there is something that my laptop is missing. The application was functioning fine until 2 days ago, and since then I haven't installed any other application.

Use fine, then after its been on for awhile it goes black again. Weird. I have the newest drivers and all the windows updates loaded. It just keeps going out. I have tried several screens as well to rule out the monitor freaking out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy kid just disabled the video adapter on his XP Pro machine (Compaq, PII, on-board video) and now the initial Win XP screen comes up then goes dark once it gets mostly through the boot-up. It won't do any different in safe mode and even installing an AGP video card didn't get me around this. Short of reloading XP, is there a fix for this? Also tried reloading default BIOS settings just in case, no change.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was working away on my desktop tonight, and suddenly the monitor started freaking out. Here is a video to show you what's going on at startup, When it happened I was working in Cubase. I'd just reset the audio driver, and it started doing like in the video. After a little bit, the signal cuts out completely. It's not the monitor, I've checked with a spare and it's the same. I don't have another video card around at the moment, but I'm wondering if it's likely to be an issue with the hardware, or software/virus type stuff.The computer is XP, 2gb ram, nVidia Geforce card (sorry, can't recall which one) etc. Incidentally the card itself looks fine, ie it doesn't look like it's shorted or anything.

I have unchecked the appropriate box in the security tab under Options' in the 'Tools' pull down menue of Outlook Express. I still can not get certain images. It would seem that most often this problem occuts in email that has been forwarded to me.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHad to re-install XP2 Pro and Outlook Express 6. Need to figure out why I can't forward emails that contain images, such as jpegs. I receive the email with the jpeg in the message fine but when I forward the email the jpegs only show as the empty box with the "x" in top left corner. Before re-installing Xp and Office and OE6 I was able to do this. Is there a setting or configuration that I missed. I have set in OE6 Mail Sending Format to HTML with Send Pictures with Messages and Encoding Text as Quoted Printable. I'm using Yahoo as my mail server.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI want to perform a clean install on a older dell poweredge running Win 2000 server that i aquired a while back. What i would like to do is create a Acronis True Image of the current install and throw it on an external HD. (i want to keep the current install usable for a few weeks) Then wipe the disk and do a clean install of the OS and start fresh till i get everything running the way i like it. And also create a image of this new install and throw it on the external HD as well.
But during this span of a few weeks i would need to restore to the original install and go back to the fresh install quite a few times probalby....err toggle between the original and new install until all is well. (carry on with the fresh install when no one is in the office, when done for the night restore back to original install untill the next night i can continue with my work and toggle to the new install again and again and again.
In IE Links, what does Toggle Images.exe do? (I imagine it's supposed to turn on or off images) I've never used this feature before.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with viewing images on some websites.I have a Dell Dimension 4600 Series computer, I use Windows XP, IE browser, and I have Norton Systemworks premier 2005 Antivirus program on my computer. I also have spywareblaster from javacool site and a popup blocker.The main type of websites I have trouble viewing are websites with e-cards. I can view the e-cards but when I click on them to view to send..I get the tiny box with the red x in it.One in particular is the Hallmark.com site..I only get a blank background with the box & red x on the main page. If I go down to the e-cards and click on it.I can see the e-cards but again, when I click on one to send, nothing but the blank with the box & red x.Also I have tried to download the Macromedia Flash Player. I click on the download box, the next page that comes up, there is nothing to click on, only a box with the red x. That is as far as I can get.
