I have a serious problem with my laptop. I have a Windows XP Home Edition Compaq laptop and there is a message that keeps me from accessing my computer files that states the following:explorer.exe -Application Error: The instruction at "0x700000000" referenced memory at "0x700000000". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
Then when I click on either choice, the desktop goes blank and I cannot access my start menu because whenever I try to do so, the message comes up again and sometimes the drwtsn32.dll (I think that's it) pops up on the screen. I would like some help and advice to fix this problem.
everytime I start up my laptop this error message comes up. I ran registry mechanic, virus, and spyware, and cannot figure out what it is. Can anyone offer any help? Thanks in advance to whoever knows what's wrong!
when loading a pc given to me it will not load windows and gives a message to reboot from boot up cd.i do not have this a was given to me and the floppy drive seems inoperable.
I did "F6" to install the Intel RAID driver using a floppy disk created from the motherboard support CD. The STOP message/blue screen appeared after XP loaded all the drivers. It is a clean installation on 2 new HDDs, so I assume the error is not caused by viruses. Yes, I did upgraded my BIOS to the latest version beforehand. The SATA data cables are new that came with the motherboard. Yes, I have also read and printed out MS KB324103, but I am still not sure what the problem(s) is/are Does XP Home Edition support RAID1 configuration? I read from Western Digital knowledge base answer ID 282 that "Windows XP Home Edition does not support dynamic disks." Is it true? Does it mean that I will have to buy XP Professional for RAID1 (mirrored)? Should I take out the video card and modem card before installing XP?
I've been having this problem for about three weeks now and it's really starting to get annoying Every time I start my computer, that message that comes up when your computer is unexpectedly shows and I can choose to start with either safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, last known good configuration or start windows normally. Every single one of these that I choose, the exact same thing happens:The Windows loading screen will come up and the boxes will go from left to right in that rectangle under the windows logo and then all of a sudden a blue screen with some text on it will flash really fast and then the computer will restart. I can't read any of the text because it restarts too fast.
I've recently been getting this weird error when i perform a full scan on my computer, using ANY anti virus scanning program(TrendMicro,OnlinePanda,AVG). It leads into a blue screen saying / A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL If this is the first time you've seen this stop screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.
My PC was running perfectly until a few days ago. When I switched on my PC recently, the following error message appeared on the screen:'Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: Windows root>system32 toskrnl.exe. Please re-install a copy of the above file'As I am not a techie, could somebody please instruct me what I should do step by step in order to get my PC going again? I will thank everybody in advance for any help/assistant accorded.
I cleaned the whole computer with malware bytes, spybot S&D and have spyblaster, ie-spyad and scriptdefender, also norton antivirus. Cleans some stuff like myway mywebsearch and Hotbar no problem computer is clean. The problem is a stop error that stops it for shutting down. You can start it up fine and do what ever you want to do. But when you got to shut it down from start> shutdown>shutdown it pops up the BSOD with stop error. Haven't put in any new hardware or software, everytning is up to date. I unchecked the box for the auto restart made no difference.
I keep trying to install Windows XP (tried both professional & home edition) and when it starts checking my system, it gives me the following error (the error comes when it is checking (which is the 4rth messsage on bottom of window), "Setup is loading files (Kernel DLL)".I then get the error message "File setupdd.sys could not be loaded. The error code is 4. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit"I have searched high and low to find Error Code 4 in microsoft's web page and have found nothing.
I would be grateful if you could give advise regarding the following Event System error: EventSystem The COM Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was C0000005 from line 44 of d:qxp_slpcomcom1xsrcevent s ier1eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error. My PC is also very slow and takes a long time to boot up - could this be the cause?
I have a desktop pc with XP Home Edition. It's an HP and it looks like there are two operating systems on it. One is the regular XP Home Edition load and the other seems to be the Recovery one if you run the Recovery utility that HP offers at boot up. I'm not sure what to do to fix this. If I try to run the recovery from HP it says that some data might be lost which I do not want. Is there any way to fix this hal.dll file using some type of utility disk? Or any other way?
After using Windows Explorer to view files and folders I get the following error message:Proxy Desktop - explorer.exe - Application error. The instruction 0x01f24213 referenced memory at 0x018dad58. The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program.I am using Win XP Home Ed with Service Pack 2 installed on a Dell Dimension 8200 with 512 MB memory. What is the simplest course for recovering from this problem. The program seems to work anyway.
Good morning, I have a couple of problems and I can't figure out how to get my computer back to where it used to be. I think it has something to do with updating windows. I get messages everytime I try to open a photo or a file. One message is Explorer EXE-Application Error, The instruction of ox600470a4 referenced memory at ox600470a4. The memory could not be written. Click on ok to terminate the program, click on cancel to debug the program. I clicked on debug and the program I got a message about Dr. Watson trying to communicate with ? and I clicked ok. Then the photo closed and all the icons disappeared and the reappeared. When I opened the same photo again, I got the following message. Data Execution Prevention-Microsoft Windows to help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program and also Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close, etc. Again the program shuts down. Basically, I can't open anything without the error messages. I can't copy cd's either as I have in the past with Nero. The program starts and then I get a read message or the cd just will not copy. Is there a way that I can do a restore and have my computer back to where it was 3 weeks ago? I could do that with my old computer Windows 98se. I have a HP Media M7060n now and I have XP home edition. Up to now I have had no problems. This computer is very different from my old one and I have no clue how I would do a restore. I just want a restore from 3 weeks ago, not a complete restore. I think the problem has to do with a windows update. I think I did one just before these problems occured. I lost my virus protection and had to reinstall it. I thought maybe that was the problem so I uninstalled it, but that wasn't it. So..here I am very frustrated. I know this post is long and I apologize. Thank you~Liz
I am recieving 2 different error messages. the 1st is "Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180 faulting module gtcodec.dll, version 1.10.0.0, fault address 0x00001e49". The 2nd is "Fault bucket 173850670" can anyone help me to fix this, if i try to open a folder they come up and close everything and make all my stuff disappear in the icon tray by my clock.
I currently have xp pro loaded on my computer but it was a bad install and i want to install xp home which i like a bit more. When i go to install xp home, it won't let me because it automatically assumes i want to upgrade and i can't choose a clean install. I can't boot from my cd rom so i can't go through bios.
I use Windows XP with SP3 installed and when I turn on my computer and it gets to the log in screen it doesn't show the regular long in for XP but the clasic one. Also when I get into my profile (or anyone else for that matter) it says the following. "Explorer.EXE - Application error. The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc000001d)." All the other sites I went to say to open up the task manenger but when I go to do that it says.
I have XP Media Center Edition 2002 or 2005 (not sure which) edition on a dell desktop and I have problems with Media Edition so I'd like to go to plain XP home edition. If I buy and run the XP Home upgrade, will that work on top of MCE?
I recently received a laptop that someone needs me to fix. The problem is that it seems at some point that some kind of update was interrupted during the process and the system will not load unless a windows xp professional edition disk is inserted to complete the update. I also cannot get it to start in safe mode. Unfortunately, I only have a home edition disk. Can I reformat XP pro with a home edition disk? If not, are there any other options?
i have a question about the Home edition sp2, as i known, this version only can support HT with single core, but now i face a problem is that it can support dual core(Yohan) , so about this case, does the Home edition really support dual core in one package? or just it cannot support dual core with individual package?
What is the BEST Registry Cleaner out there? Does Microsoft have one we can download for free? Or do they recommend one? OTHERWISE what's the BEST one out there?
Anyway, when upgrading from Windows XP Home Edition to Windows XP Pro earliler this week, everything seemed to work fine and all the program icons I had from Windows XP Home appeared on the XP Pro desktop. However, my Internet Broadband/Dial-Up connection dissapeared from 'Network Connections' and I therefore could not connect to the internet, even though the ISP ('BT Broadband' - I'm based in the UK in case you wonder who BT are) icon remained on my desktop and their software appeared in Programs.
When I contacted my ISP they claimed this is a problem with Windows XP upgrade to Pro and I should contact Microsoft Support. Is this true?
Anyway, I've had to resort to doing a clean install of Windows XP Home again now in order to get back on the internet with my Broadband internet and installing my ISP's USM Modem software all over again. It worked, but still want to upgrade to XP Pro.
Any ideas on how this 'problem' can be resovled. Don't want to have to do a clean install again and again. Also, is It this a common problem with upgrading to Windows XP Pro from Windows XP Home as my ISP claim ?
i'm in the process of upgrading my PC and i want to get Windows XP, now, i have two questions, i have been told that Windows XP needs 4.5GB of space to install, this seems like an insane amount, and as i seem to only have 2.0GB available, not achievable, however, if this is not true, and i can install it, is the Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade with SP2 what i need, as it says upgrade, does it mean upgrade from ME to XP? As that is what i have, or is it an upgrade from SP1 to SP2? Or do i need Windows XP Home Edition with SP2? Or should i get SP1? This is, however, if i have enough memory
I am using Windows XP Home Edition. Should I download & install the windows updates? There are so many of them, and I never know which ones I need. I never updated before because I only had a 7GB HD & it took up too much space. I now have a bigger computer & just want to know from the experts.
Someone told me to do a back up, go to tools, options and click on Backup. I have XP home edition. How can I get this feature? The icon is "perplexed" which I often am when trying to hunt things down.
I am facing a problem with one of our computers here..it is having Win XP Home ed.It is getting hanged frequently..when checked the event viewer,i got the following err.The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:i8042prt For more information.
I have just recently reinstalled everything on my laptop, but Ive noticed when I click on start/turn-off-computer/restart - the computer will not shut down by itself. I have to manually hold the button down, then it starts up again when I release it.
I have Windows XP professional edition i want to install home edition. Is it possible to install both of them or completely uninstall professinal before installing home edition?I have read that by using advanced option in installation we can install installation files in another partition,is it possible? Also if i completely uninstall can i save my earlier settings ?
I just completed a fresh install of windows xp home edition. The computer starts up in safe mode, but not in normal mode. When I try to start in normal mode, it goes to the windows xp loading screen with the green loading bar and then goes blank, with my moniter blinking on and off. a checkdisk in safe mode returns no errors. the only things plugged into the motherboard are my cd drive and a video card.
