I have just reinstalled Windows XP on my Laptop CD. Anyway I'm getting no sound and I was wondering if you could help with a tip or twoI have check volume and all that stuff. I have even tried to delete the soundcard drives so that it Windows could finds it's own drivers but all to no avail.I seem to remember that by getting Windows to overwrite itself these errors can be sorted out

ok i am trying to install drivers for my scanner. tech support from the scanner manufacturer said i need to delete the twain*.dll and twunk*.dll files. i try deleteing them and the return without me doing anything. is there a way to permently delete them so i can install the new ones? if need more info i will supply. if this is a security issue instead of xp i will post there but thought i would try here first.

A friends HP Media Center PC m7077c crashed. Had no recover disk, etc. Installed XP Pro SP2 and I need drivers (according to Device Manager). No sound is obvious but video controller is not. Video seems okay. Where do I find drivers for this machine. XP Pro, Home and MCE are different OS's ... as far as my experience. The drivers are not the same.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever i install drivers on my pc, (i've tried graphics card drivers and wireless network card drivers) my pc stops working. When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. I decided to uninstall the graphics card drivers, and the game worked perfectly, but the graphics were REALLY bad. So i thought i might need to update some other drivers, so i tried to install my wireless network card, but when i finished installing the drivers when i had to restart my computer, it flashed the BSOD.... AGAIN! I need help urgently as im going to a LAN gaming comp called "rezidue" and its on in 2 weeks, i need my pc fixed by then! All these problems started when i upgraded my CPU. Everything was running smooth, and i was happily playing along on my computer, when i was asked what my FPS was in counter-strike, and i was all "mine are 65!" and there like "wow that sucks, mines 130" so i set out on my epic quest to get better FPS then everyone else and MAN THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I upgraded from my celeron 2.8ghz cpu to a P4 3.0ghz HT cpu, and thats when things started messing up on me. My entire system is as follows (incase it can help someone help me) P4 3.0ghz HT CPU, Microstar P4 motherboard, 128mb Nvidia Geforce mx4000 AGP x8 graphics card, 256MB ddr ram (recently brought new 1GB ddr ram off ebay just for rezidue! should be here soon!) View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a very large, corrupt disc image on my hard drive that I want to delete, but every time I try to delete it Windows displays the message "Cannot delete 'filename': it is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." The disc image is not mounted with any program, and hasn't been for some time. I tried aborting random processes that I thought might have something to do with the file, as well as restarting. No matter what I do, there seems to be something using the file. Are there any tricks to getting around this so I can delete it? Can I check, somehow, to see what program is using it?

This applies to programs, icons, photos, documents , folders etc - I cannot get to any of my work to back it up. I have tried Stinger -F-Force and W32.Blackmal@mm Removal Tools. Ran a full AVG scan with uptodate anti virus and Adaware Spyware. Sorry forgot to mention other things tried. The Pop up message does not appear in the Task Manger either as applications or processes. Each time you respongd NO to negate the delete it pops up again. There is no way I can get to any of my folders or files to burn to a CD as backup without the Confirm Delete message.

The files and folders that I am addressing are: C:WINDOWSTEMP*.* *.OLD *.CHK *.BAK ~*.* _*.* and MSCREATE.DIRI have managed to clean all but one, which is _*.* When I run the search, I get the result of 144 files. I click on edit, select all, then file, delete. I receive the following error "cannot delete file: Cannot read the source file or disk" (please view screen shot). When I right click, I have no delete option, just "open containing folder, copy, and extract. (please view screen shot). I have run AdAware, Spybot, Ewido, and Avg Free. I also have CCleaner, Easy Clean which I have run. I have also used "Move On Boot" by putting the file path in the MOB window and try to have MOB delete the file. MOB says the file will be removed on the next boot.

The problem is I can't find the drivers for it. My friend did send me the drivers but then I put on my USB and now it is stuffed up and now I can't get them on it. I did install them once and it worked and then created a partion and re-installed XP then USB stuffed up. I am currently looking not on the Toshiba website as they want people to go to Vista but if you look around the other websites I have found it before.I have been trying for hours and can't seem to find them. My primary Dell computer has WinXP Pro from a re-install. Unfortunately, the Dell reinstallation CD doesn't have the drivers that the OEM installation had, so whenever I add a hardware device, I have to also install the drivers.
I just acquired a second computer, also a Dell, that has WinXP Home Edition on it. So I was thinking that if I could find the driver "library" on the Home Edn, I could then copy it to the Pro machine
Dealing with a system a couple of days ago. Dell Desktop with a Dell CD XP Home CD - hdd not recognized because no S-ATA drivers...then tried with a Dell XP Pro CD - worked perfectly...and I always thought the drivers on OEM XP cds for Home and Pro were the same.
