Aug 7, 2008how to reduce the programmes that automatically open up on my start-up menu?Because they are slowing me down, but I need to know how to ensure I don't end up deinstalling programmes that I need to keep on the start-up.I don't just want to go into add/remove until I know how to ensure I don't actuall lose any of the programmes.

Then another windows opens and says this: Windows cannot access one or more required files. The files may have been renamed, deleated or moved. Feb 20, 2005Like when I go to start an application the wrong one starts, or shortcuts taking you to the wrong file??? This has happened to me a few times in the last couple of days? I got a XP tweak tool from TotalIdea, haven't really tweaked much with it, just a few visual, speed related tweaks. Nothing that cant be done without the 'TweakXP' program, but I was just trying it out??? It seems that this caused the weirdness with the shortcuts???? Another strange thing when I start the Tweaker it tries to start an installer for a antispyware app?? Tries twice, both times I tell it to cancel, then starts up normally. Probably just uninstall, but I thought Id run it through the TSG mill, and see if any others have similar experience? BTW I have run Regmech, Adaware SE, And my System Mech5 cleaners, but prob still there???

Dec 12, 2007I started getting an error message "Application has failed to start because Framedyn.dll was not found". I found a place on the internet where I could download DLL files. I downloaded the file and followed there instructions which were. Save file to the directory that is requesting the file. If that doesn't work save it to your system directory C:windowssystem32. I saved it in the system directory wasn't sure exactly which directory was requesting it. Reboot the computer. If the problem still occurs, try the following: Press start then Run, Type CDM and press enter, Type regsvr32 framedyn.dll and press enter. I did this and ow I am getting an error message

Jul 21, 2005I need help with my sis PC. She has a Gateway with a Pentium 4 processor, 512 Meg RAM and Windows XP home. When she tries to start an app it opens very slowly. I ran Spybot, Spywareblaster, Ad Aware, Windows antispyware all with no improvement. I ran msconfig and disabled all startup apps and all of the services expect for Microsoft apps. None of this has helped. All apps still open very slowly. Am I missing something?

Feb 17, 2005I have lost my start menu I also have lost the bottom task bar. In addition the views have all changed on the tool bars. For example, on the internet explorer tool bar, the icons are on top of each other or otherwise unaccessible. Several programs no longer work and I get error messages as follows "The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect..." I hit control-alt-delete, nothing happens.
I went to Housecall and ran a virus scan and nothing showed up. I had previously installed (many months ago) SpyBot S&D. As noted above, this is one of the programs that will not run and I get the error message. I tried to uninstall this program and then reinstall it. After downloading the program, I still got the above error message that the application configuration is incorrect.
I tried to start in safe mode. Although I cannot get to system configuration utility, I was able to get to safe mode by hitting F8 as the computer was starting. I selected safe mode and then selected Windows XP as the operating system. The next screen had the words safe mode in each corner and a Log On window in the middle.

The moment I noticed this issue was after an install of my Printer/Fax/scanner by HP, It is a wireless printer so the firewall asked if it should unblock for the install process. Nov 12, 2006Control Panel-->Administrative Tools-->Computer Management-->Disk Management, I have 3 HDs: C, F, G I see them in the board as healthy.C with the XP in it says [System].
F says [Active].G says nothing, just [Healthy]Major problem is that in the board also see another HD which I do not have Title of this HD is [Missing] with a red X on it and the description is [Failed].Its in the same size with F so I think its some problem from the time I tried set this disk as primary in order to put xp in it (its a sata on an A8V Deluxe which requires f6 etc etc).So... may i choose delete this fake disk?PS. I use no partitions, just whole disks. Board says me that C & F are Basic type. G and [missing] are Dynamic.

I tried MS's solution (regsvr32 c:winntsystem32dmdskmgr.dll) but I get an error LoadLibrary("c:winntsystem32dmdskmgr.dll") failed - The specified module could not be found.

Got to the setup part where i choose which parition to use, but it says I can't delete the partition because there are necessary files needed on it etc. etc... Jul 18, 2010System crashed last night with a Kernel Stack Inpage Error, but restarted fine ... while diagnosing, I tried to get in to Disk Management through Admin Tools/Computer Management, and received the error, "Unable to connect to Logical Disk Manager service". I checked, and the service was disabled (why?), so I set it for manual and restarted it, still received the error.Oddly, I was able to start it from a command prompt, which then allowed it to start from Admin Tools. What just happened here? Is that service normally disabled? If not, what would cause it to become disabled? Could a virus, worm, or rootkit have snuck in?

Disk Management Not Showing Any HD Partitions
Jul 3, 2009This is my wife's Lenovo T61 and I've posted this in the laptop forums. While attempting to prep for a larger hard drive, I noticed that Disk management isn't showing any HD partitions. It does show the CD ROM device. It will not display USB external hard drive partitions but will display USB CD ROM devices. Device manager and explorer will display hard drives/partitions just fine. At this same time, I found that a scheduled chkdsk /f will not run. The PC just boots normally. Defrag will not run either. I was able to run sfc /scannow plus the Lenovo "disk doctor" utility and nothing is reported to be amiss. Another broken item was system restore. It was enabled but no restore points were available.
