Cant Show Language At The Taskbar
May 21, 2010i cant show my language at the taskbar science, im set the setting to show it from the regional & setting my problem is it virus?

Language Bar Icon Comes Up In Taskbar
Sep 9, 2006Every time restart windows the language bar icon comes up in the taskbar and hten i uncheck it and everytime it comes back how do i permanitly get rid of it?

Dec 29, 2004I have a gateway notebook running Windows XP. There are 2 user accounts, each with administrative rights. I recently installed SP2, defragged the hard drive, and cleaned up some spyware and adware with spybot and adaware. I am also running Norton Anti-Virus and all definitions are up-to-date. (This is my college daughter's computer). All ran fine after doing this, but after the next boot, the taskbar completely disappeared. I was finally able to get it back, but only by selecting the quick launch toolbar. If I deselect the quick launch tool bar, the whole taskbar goes away. The real problem is that programs no longer show up on the taskbar when they are opened (Word, Excel, IE, Trillian, etc). And, if I open a program, and then minimize it, it goes away completely as though it were closed, but if I open task manager, the application is still running. I have to close the applications from task manager. The really odd thing is that this is only happening on one of the user accounts (my daughter's). The other user account is functioning normally. Short of creating an additional user account or using system restore and starting all over, does anyone have any ideas on how to repair this?

Jun 17, 2006Whenever I log on, no programs show on the taskbar, and I have to switch between them with Task Manager. Also, the Connect To submenu in Start menu is not showing, and I have to connect through Control Panel. Is there an easy way to fix this?

Jan 16, 2008so I've had this problem for a while now and it's been bugging me for weeks until I found this nifty little board here, and a few others(they weren't that helpful).My taskbar won't show my windows when they're minized, or even open actually and the shortcut keys won't hide the extra icons I have anymore. I also screwed up really bad when I just tried to clean my computer with Mcafee quick cleaner and accidentally deleted all my system restore points. Restarting my computer obviously does nothing, so the problem is how do I restore my taskbar to its original state?

Jul 24, 2005With XP Pro SP2, I enable "Group similar taskbar buttons". I generally have my taskbar stretched 2 to 3 rows even so. Sometimes, when I have a lot of windows open, and the similar taskbar buttons group and stack themselves, so 1 button contains 2 or 3 open tasks, I can't get any action out of the buttons that represent multiple open tasks.
Any of the taskbar buttons that represent a single open task are fine. But any buttons that represent multiple open tasks don't respond. I have to do Alt -
Tab to bring a task to the front, if it's one of the tasks on a button that represents a group. Or I can go to Taskbar Properties, and deselect "Group similar taskbar buttons".
Truncated Window Designations In Taskbar - Taskbar Grouping On
Jan 21, 2008I've just switched from 98 to XP. I find now that the window designations in the taskbar for my *browser windows only* are severely and unaccountably truncated. My browser is IE6. Even if there's only one window open, if it's a browser window, only one letter will display. Other windows will properly display the full name. I've turned taskbar grouping on and off with no change. I've also run the SFC utility, with no change. There is no such problem in my Win98 machine, and my security settings (and all other settings) are the same. I don't wish to upgrade to IE7.

I hope someone maybe able to come up with something.I have XP Professional installed. On Control Panel/Regional & Language Options/Languages/Details/Advanced the "turn off advanced text services" always seems to get rechecked. Even if you uncheck it the language bar on the task bar does not appear (even though it is ticked on Taskbar/right-click/Toolbars). If the Language bar option becomes available on Control Panel/Regional & Language Options/Languages/Details/Settings, when you open it all the Language Bar Settings are greyed out.

Jan 3, 2008Windows XP-P. Suddenly the language task bar disappeared. I tried all options in regional language setting, not succesful. I have unchecked the "Turn off advanced text services", and clicked "apply", and then goto Preferences>Language Bar, but all Options are greyed out, I can't click any one of the 4 options. And when go back to the Advanced setting, the "Turn off advanced text services" went back to checked position.

Dec 20, 2004Not a serious problem, just an annoyance. One day, I started my computer, and the Language Bar was activated on my tool-bar. I turned it off, but then next time I restarted my computer, it was there again. Basically, any time that I restart my computer, I have to close the language bar.

Jul 7, 2006This thing apperently happens randomly and it happens when I turn my laptop on. There is suppose to be the language bar between (3) and (4) but I tried pushing it into place (apperently I push too much) that it disappeared. From experience I know that all I need to do is restart my computer and all will be well. This disappeared in 2 stages; first the language bar space still showed, but it was blank. Then the empty bar also disappeared. I tried to recover by using the control panel>regional settings>languages route, but the selection button for language bar is grayed out, and I am stuck in keyboard select.

Feb 12, 2006I use the Windows Language Bar to switch between English and Japanese characters.I can do this by pressing alt+shift but after a while when i start switching to Japanese characters the extra features ( letting me switch to hiragana or katakana so on ) disapear, so I can not switch.The defualt input is Direct Input ( english characters ) so when these features go away I can no longer use japanese characters at all.I restart my computer then it starts working for a while again.Would anyone know why the language bar just stops working?
