At Regional and Language Options Text service and Input languages Under Prefrences, Language Bar appear grey and cant press. So how to fix this problem? I prefer just install some program from CD or type some paramater to recover and i don't wanna to buy software.
View 1 RepliesI would like to install East Asian language support on my XP Pro sp2 machine but I no longer have the original CD that I used to install the OS. I tried borrowing a friend's CD for XP Pro sp1 and the files seemed to install properly from the i386lang directory on the CD but the language functionality still does not work.Does anyone know if you can download the language pack from MS. Otherwise, it seems that I need the contents of the i386lang directory from an XP Pro sp2 CD, which I don't have.

I am trying to install this DOS based program onto my computer. The thing is, the program is in Greek and DOS doesn't recognize the font, all I get when I open it are a bunch of random symbols. With the program I did receive an application called grkeyb.com, which, I am assuming is the font I need. I don't know anything about DOS

I can not install the OS.
I can not get past the BIOS installation and set up.
When I apptempt to install from the CD I get an error message stating an error reading disk and I am asked to restart.
I have set and reset the jumpers on the CD and CD-RW optical drives.
The BIOS has set the hard drives to RAID 0 configuration.
I am not sure if this is a motherboard, optical drive or disk drive problem.
Trying to install WIN2K on an old machine. I cannot get it boot from the installation cd. It goes through the BIOS routine then hangs at a C: prompt.

Now, when I try installing a HP printer the installation CD does not work but when I try it on my laptop it does work. Could it be the norton blocking the CD installation? View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm running windows xp pro...i'm trying to install an ethernet card and a box comes up asking for the windows cdrom to look for drivers it needs...problem is i don't have my copy of windows xp...is there a place on the computer that i can browse to find what it's looking for...i guess i'm asking if when windows xp pro is installed does it copy everything to the computer in a file somewhere. otherwise i don't know if it would be better just to buy another ethernet card or if i would have the same problem. i do have the floppy that came with the ethernet card but it says the file i need is not on the floppy...?

I come to a point wherer I get a message that says oembios.bin could not be copied during the beginning og installation. Everything else get copied. Now after the installation it I get I message that preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. Error code: 0�80070002. I searched and get a solution on this issue as well (By expanding OEMBIOS.BI_ and move the OEMBIOS.BIN to the SYSTEM 32 folder in Safe mode).
When restarting windows the desktop background image is blue and a lot of windows programs are missing (Internet Explorer, Remote desktop and more). It doesn't let me even get into msconfig. Now, I know that the installation disc work perfect and it isn't the cd. I do have a HP_Recovery partition and tempted to format it but I also don't want to face any complications later on. But it seems that it is HP_Recovery that blocks xp instalation out, since it indicates that the laptop is locked to VISTA in BIOS.
When trying to insall DirectX I get an error message stating "A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted. Please verify the Cryptographic Services are enables and the cabinet file certificate is valid."

Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information" I couldnt find anything about why this is happening but i found a way how to solve it. to solve it it said: "Well problem finally solved. All you have to do is add a group called "Users" in the groups and users settings of the administrative settings and it will install..." When I go to reformat with my DELL Windows XP Home Edition CD I will then revert back to SP1. I have SP3 installed onto my computer right now. I also have a SP2 CD I got from Microsoft about 3 years ago or so. Should I first install the SP2 cd or is there no need to do that seeing SP3 should have all of SP2 updates in it?

After an unsuccesfull repair-instalation of xp, i re-installed xp onto the secondary partition of my hard drive (d:, the original instalation being on c. I was intending to format the c: drive, then instal a copy of xp-pro i have onto it
finally moving the files i want to keep back from the d: drive onto the c: drive.The problem i'm now having is on formatting i recieve the error message 'system partition is not allowed to be formatted', as it is the primary partition. Can i go about formatting this drive in partitions and proceed with the re-install without having to remove the files i have on the d: drive? How might i go about this?
I have looked through several threads about this problem and have tried the solutions suggested but so far no success. I hope someone maybe able to come up with something.I have XP Professional installed. On Control Panel/Regional & Language Options/Languages/Details/Advanced the "turn off advanced text services" always seems to get rechecked. Even if you uncheck it the language bar on the task bar does not appear (even though it is ticked on Taskbar/right-click/Toolbars). If the Language bar option becomes available on Control Panel/Regional & Language Options/Languages/Details/Settings, when you open it all the Language Bar Settings are greyed out.

I have unchecked the "Turn off advanced text services", and clicked "apply", and then goto Preferences>Language Bar, but all Options are greyed out, I can't click any one of the 4 options. And when go back to the Advanced setting, the "Turn off advanced text services" went back to checked position.

I turned it off, but then next time I restarted my computer, it was there again. Basically, any time that I restart my computer, I have to close the language bar.

There is suppose to be the language bar between (3) and (4) but I tried pushing it into place (apperently I push too much) that it disappeared. From experience I know that all I need to do is restart my computer and all will be well. This disappeared in 2 stages; first the language bar space still showed, but it was blank. Then the empty bar also disappeared. I tried to recover by using the control panel>regional settings>languages route, but the selection button for language bar is grayed out, and I am stuck in keyboard select.
