I just bought a new hard drive for my computer because with the old one I was having problems with creating a new partition and installing XP... so I figured the Hard Drive itself was the problem. Anyways, I have the new drive hooked up, I run windows XP setup and it loads all of the files. It finishes and says "setup is starting windows" after this my screen goes black, the computer restarts and the cycle repeats.
For the last couple days I have been having this issue. All of a sudden my computer goes blank, a blue screen appears for a split second and then it restarts. I can't even read the blue screen it goes by so quick. Is there anyway for me to find out what it is saying? Is there a log somewhere or something?
I recently started to get the blue screen of death on my computer. I am not sure how to fix it but its really annoying me. I just formatted my computer because it was doing this previous, and i thought formatting my computer would fix it.
I have never had this kind of problem before. The other day i was playin on online then i stopped and went to be, with the computer on. I also know i have some virus called trojan GE . and its in the systeme 32 file and is called ridirv , i think that is how it is spelled .. anyways. i woke up and moved the mouse and the computer was showing the screen to pick between safe mode or last known ... start windows you know. anyways i click last know configuration and it doesnt get past the windows loading screen and just restarts over and over. I tried to take out some memory and use one stick. I dont know what else to try.
I have a dell inspiron 6400 notebook and i have windows xp home edition installed. i am getting the blue screen error message sometime after my computer starts. and then automatically my computer restarts. however, my computer works normally in safe mode.what should i do to make my computer work correctly and i dont want to spend any money as i just bought it a few months ago.
My computer started to do this wierd thing where it would load at the windows screen, then go to a blue screen, then restart. It tells me its shutting down to prevent memory loss, also tells me these numbers: 0x0000007E (0xC0000006, 0x806A276D, 0xF789E6E8, 0xF789E3E4)Before this started Windows prompted me to download a service pack, It worked fine ulti about two days later. So I start the computer in safe mode and do system restore, that doesent work. I started again and did a virus scan and it wouldent let me. So after trying and trying I finally gave up, I had nothing i wanted on that hard drive, so I decided just to reinstall windows. I pop the CD in there, and it asks me if I want to repair, I tried that. Now it wont even let me run safe mode.I do boot from cd, but when it loads the CD i cant see anything but a blue screen, like it froze or my screen doesent load it.
I'm currently having problem with my other computer. Today when i start my computer, it goes through the normal things the hard drives and stuff except for one thing different, it shows me 5 options on how to boot: start normally, safe and etc. I choose normal thinking that theres no problem with my computer. Once it goes to the window loading screen, after 5 seconds it restarts. Then it goes through the same thing over and over. I don't know what to do to fix this problem.
Computer starts, Gets to Windows XP loading screen then restarts, and does this forever.I tried booting in every mode, Safe mode with networking with bios?Last known settings None boot Windows, all do the same thing.I reset bios battery, didn't help.I'm hoping I don't have to reformat as my 27 page coursework is on there and if i lose that im gonna cry.
my computer would give me a few problems while booting up. I would start the computer, it would run through BIOS, run through the Windows loading screen, and after that it would run the CHKDSK to make sure my disks are fine. CHKDSK doesn't work, it just freezes right before checking the disks, so I restart and generally it will boot up. Most of the time it would boot up perfectly, but rarely would it go to the xp loading screen and then flicker as if it as going to go to the windows login screen but wouldn't. The screen would just stay black and I'd have to restart.
Next time, generally it would work perfect. So this brings me to the current day. After the windows xp loading screen, it goes black. The computer is on, but I don't see any activity for the HDD via the LED. SO i go into safe mode, i finally get CHKDSK to run, I had to really mess with some stuff to get that working. Windows says the volume is fine, and the only way I can boot my PC is in safe mode, but even that will freeze sometimes while loading some of the files.
When i was checking the computer out at sellers house, it did not crash and worked fine, I took it home for a good price (i thought) at $300. There was an instance of Windows XP installed, and seller asked me to format it before I started using the computer, I agreed and headed home. To test it out I installed Prince of Persia and ran that, everything went smoothly and I was satisfied. I then went out and bought a nice $200 widescreen monitor (the 15" crt wasnt cutting it) and the wireless card as it only had ethernet. Hooked up the new monitor and wireless connected to the internet and started installing WoW. At disk 5 it frooze up and its all gone downhill from there
Computer reboots always at the same point in a game (start of Creature phase in Spore) when its starting/trying to process an introdutory movie/animation.It happened one time, I tried again, it rebooted my computer again, so I tried to by pass the problem by starting a new game, using someone elses save game and it happened again. So I searched for information and discovered how to turn off Restart so I could get a Blue Screen with a BCCode.I got the Blue Screen and learned how to view the error log on windowns going to Control Panel> Administration Tools> Event Viewer> System. There I found the multiple occurences of the same error when the computer restarts.
I opened up my computer today and I got a blue screen that flashed and restarted immediately. Then I decided to install Windows again then I got this message:A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to yur computer. If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drives. run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer.
My laptop has begun flashing a blue error screen prior to restarting at random. This is not following any hardware or new driver installation; the only software I have installed recently is Bloodshed Dev C++.I had a hard drive failure on this same laptop about 6 months ago; since then I installed a new hard drive, reinstalled XP Pro, all drivers and programs, and it has run without a hitch since then for the duration of the last 6 months...until today.I disabled automatic restarts and the blue screen error It looks to me like a driver error, but I have not updated or installed any new drivers or devices recently. I was hoping to avoid reinstallation of all drivers- could any of you point me towards a more specific fix? I'm not aware of what "w22n51.sys" is for, or the most obvious source for repair.
I am trying to install windows xp sp 2 over windows xp on 2 computers and the same thing has happened with each computer.I get down to 36 minutes left - installing drivers - and the setup restarts. I tried to remove the cd and xp then asks for the cd telling me it needs the asms driver, xp then is directed to search e:I386. Xp looks for it there then spontaneously restarts again. The setup is in an endless loop going from 39 minutes remaining till 34 then restarting over and over again. How can I stop this and/or correct this? I did some research at the microsoft site but I have been unable to make anything work.
After my computer is on for approx 15 min. the screen goes black. After I reset/reboot it comes on and runs ok the rest of the day.The next morning when I turn it on it's the same thing to do over.I've run all my virus programs and can't find anything.the computer power indicator never goes out. I push the switch to reset, computer comes on and runs normally the rest of day.Looks like I still have a virus/bug somewhere.
I have a Dell Dimension 8400 Desktop computer and whenever I start the computer up it goes to a blank black screen with a flashing bar in the top left hand corner. Usually it does this for a second and then continues to load but it jus stops there and the computer isn't working or anything.
I have a friend who is using windows xp.When they boot the computer up.They encounter a black screen with some wording. He tells me that the wording is to do with ms dos. Then the screen goes black, with just the cusor showing in the top hand left corner. I have an idea of what the problem is,and think that someone has gone into his settings and asked the machine to boot up in dos.
When i log in everything loads like its going to work but then after the last thing loads it goes to a black screen and you can't do nothing, but you can sign in on safe mode, have any idea of what to do in safe mode to fix it???
I do something wrong. lately my screen has been going black plus startup is not completing, having to restart startup 3 or 4 times, also lately the computer has been running at a crawl.
Really don't know where to post this, so forgive any inappropriate posting.I'm running Windows XP Home, SP2 all updates current. My problem is that my computer has just been freezing up and the screen going black for no reason I can figure. I've checked "sleep" and "hibernate" settings, and they all seem to be off. I've instructed the computer to NEVER go to sleep. At first, I had the problem which I thought may have been linked to my newly-purchased & registered version of AVG AntiVirus, but then I took everything out of System Start-up EXCEPT for that, changed the time for daily update and it seemed to fix things. Then the other day, I installed Kodak's Easy Share software for my new digital camera, and the problem started again. Suspecting the software,
I uninstalled that just this morning, and restarted the computer after the uninstall. After that, my mouse would no long choose just a single selection of anything no matter how much I clicked, it would choose multiple selections. So, I rebooted.Seems fine now BUT I am leary, and of course, I have to reinstall the camera software in order to be able to transfer the pictures.
I have Microsoft Windows XP and once I turn it on it appears as it is restarting but as soon as it starts up after the black screen that says Microsoft Windows XP the screen goes black and says monitor going to sleep and then it restarts over and over and over!
I have a Compaq laptop with windows XP about 5+ years old. Windows locked up a week ago so I had to cold stop the computer. After I restarted it, it did it again. I'm unable to remove any programs because the screen goes black and it freezes. I went to microsoft to check for up dates and it recommended an update. I can't install the update because it freezes and locks up, screen goes black so I the only option I have is to shut it down and try again. I've also noticed that if I leave it setting for a while, it normally goes into sleep mode.
A few weeks ago i had a problem with my computer where it would boot up until the XP logo with the blue scrolling bar, where it would freeze. I tried everything until i had no other choice but to format and re-install windows. Since this my computer has been very slow starting and increasingly so over the past week or so. After a defrag a couple of days ago it has pretty much gone haywire.I repeatedly got explorer error messages followed by dr watson debugger errors. Other problems include seemingly random restarts and general slowness after booting. Upon starting it this morning, it gets past the xp logo but then just displays a black screen. If i press space it asks me to select a hardware profile but this just does the same as previously mentioned. Also the hard drive light on the case is on constantly, as if to indicate that it is doing something.
I cannot boot into safe mode, as the system freezes at 'Mup.sys'. There is not much that i can do seeing as i can't get into windows. I also do not own a windows xp cd as my computer is a HP and did not come with an xp disk. i do however have a copy of their recovery disk, but i want to avoid using this as it will only wipe all my data which i do not want to lose.I am beginning to think it is the motherboard. any thoughts? temperature is at about 78 C at the moment, which sems about normal. both fans seem to be running as normal.
i just upgraded my cpu and i get a bios beep (which is just 1 long beep repeating) and nothing on my screen. i have an awardbios. had a AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Orleans 2.4GHz Socket AM2 62W Processor but upgraded to AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor i have a DFI INFINITY NF ULTRAII-M2 AM2 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard Patriot 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 COOLER MASTER Real Power RS-450-ACLX ATX12V 450W Power Supply MSI NX8800Ultra-T2D768E-HD-OC GeForce 8800Ultra 768MB Video Card
Okay so my computer became unresponsive while browsing the internet multiple tabs. So i was forced to turn it off by pressing the button on the computer. Then when i went to turn it on it will display the sony vaio screen, then the intell pentium processor screen(normal for booth up, both of those), but then it just goes blank.
My other laptop will not start up at all. I have Windows XP. When I turn it on, this message displays on a black screen:Windows could not start because the following file is missing or currupt:system32DRIVERSisapnp.sysYou can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.
i bought the new game, Lord of the Rings Online. Works and installs perfectly however, because i have a weak connection sometimes an error message comes up saying you have lost connection, so i would keep trying untill i manage to get onto the game successfuly. Then i would get another problem which i am sure it is to do with my graphics card. As i am loading the game and enjoying the introduction video, my computer screen would go black and a message would appear saying 'No Signal' with the computer still running. So after seeing this message i would assume to restart the computer, there is no other way of getting it back to the desktop. I did this quite a few times maybe about 6times. After pressing the restart button for the last time
After a hard disk crash I replaced the disk and did a clean install of Windows XP. Now when I do a Shut DOwn, the operating system will shut down and I get a black screen but the actual machine will no longer power off.I have not changed anything in the bios but cannot find out what the problem is. Can anyone help?
Just switched of pc,Switched it back on and I get a page with, safe mode etc and to choose a setting.Which ever setting I pick the computer goes to the widows xp window then goes back to the black screen then to the xp startup screen again. It does this all the time.It was all working well until switching off.I am on laptop now as unable to access pc.
This computer had win98 SE, it kept dying, the screen would go black, but the computer was still running. Had to reboot several times before it would load windows again. It seemed it would do that when the computer was running a while. I checked the processor fan and it is working. I finally decided to reformat and load XP Exeutive. It loaded fine, but when I go to do windows updates, it freezes and gave me errors # OX8024402C and OX80072EE2. Then it will just die again, Screen goes black, nothing there, but you can hear the computer box still running. I don't know what else to check.
when I boot the computer it comes up with a black screen , white lettering and it says select startup system to start there are 2 choices ( help and Microsoft windows XP ) and there is a timer counting down allowing me 30 seconds to make a choice using the arrow keysIf I select windows XP the computer goes through the boot sequence and windows starts. If I let it time out or select the "help" It takes me to a second screen that has several options
