I had to do a System Recovery, when it was finished, I was able to access the internet via my wireless adapter. However, my computer is kind of old so I had about 78 updates after the recovery. Got infect by a virus, virus was removed by Kaspersky. After virus removal both the 10/100 NIC and the wireless adapter, and the bluetooth have indicated that they are disconnected. However from device manager they show up as working properly, which they are not as I cannot connect to the internet and there is a red X on all three icons in the system tray. I am wondering if a system file related to network connectivity was afftected and subsequently deleted by kaspersky

PC2 uses a TEW-424UB wireless USB network adapter. It was ok, but it stopped working. I tried unplugging-replugging, but Windows doesn't even detect the device any more when i plug it in NOTHING happens. When I log into the laptop itself, the wireless connection icon in the bottom right shows "acquireing network address" for a second, finds it, and then the laptop is on the network again. I'm assuming that when I do RDC into the laptop and the desktop takes over, the network adapter on the laptop thinks it's time to sleep or disable, and drops off the lan. I confirmed this by doing a ping fromthe desktop to the laptop. Before RDC, no problem. After the RDC connection hands, I can't ping the laptop anymore. Once I log into the laptop itself, I can ping the laptop from the desktop

I replaced the wirless adapter 3 times and even went to another vendor and it still says that. It claims that there is no driver, but when I install the software it says the driver is there. IF I delete the unknown device, it puts a driver in but the unit will not even light up.
I ran a registry cleanup fromlinksys and it was suppose to get rid of all the drivers but it still does not work. I changedto Netgear and it does the same thing.

whenever I transfer files from this computer to another the copying starts, but doesn't get very far. The computer crashes shortly after starting with Stop: 0x0000001E "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED". The file quoted causing problem is rt73.sys" which is the driver for the USB card. I have searched the internet and read microsoft tech support page about this error and I think the driver is sending requests which the processor cannot understand I have tried updating the driver, but this has not worked. Here is my problem, when I install the software for the wireless card, it changes my Windows Login and disables the Welcome Screen. There is no drop down for users to log onto the computer, I have to type the name to login. I tried to just install the driver and my computer did not like that, it locked up twice. So I am back to installing the whole program.where I can get just a driver for this card? I searched the NetGear website and it has an updated program but no individual drivers. I tried to use WinZip to extract the exe into individual files but no luck.

I copied the internet settings to a jump drive and transfer it to the desktop. The desktop wireless icon showed that it made connection but when i tried to go online using IE IT ALWAYS show web page not found. I have a 3Com 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet Adapter card. XP Pro recognized the card and installed it automatically. The device is working properly. My cable modem Data light constantly blinks when there is a connection. The NIC acknowledges this and blinks with it (just as my other NIC did). I still cannot connect to the internet.
I am good with computers for the most part when it comes to PC troubleshooting, but I have very limited experience with network troubleshooting. I am assuming that there are settings somewhere that I need to manually change. Somebody at school said I had to do something with the registry. I would prefer to stay away from the registry if there is another option available.
The Network Setup Wizard tells me that it found disconnected network hardware. My Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter wireless connection is apparently disconnected. Any ideas on how to rectify this?

(It's NOT a laptop) I plugged the router into the computer and it can't find my network, or any, really. It works on a different computer. I'm guessing the wireless config is turned off or something. The problem is my wireless connection shows that I am connected at full strength but web connection will not show up. I ultimately have to put the computer on standby and then turn it back on before wireless will actually work. I thought it might be a problem with my router but it happens anywhere I go, with any wireless connection. My spouse has a laptop as well and he is able to connect everytime right away. Also just recently I plugged my earphones into my computer and they play through the phones as well as the speakers. Usually gateway has great help but not this time.

I updated the wireless adapter driver, I also changed the channel in which my laptop connects to. I read some articles that state the problem but after following almost all of them, I couldn't pull off anything. It takes many attempts to connect to my university wireless router. I would emphasize on the wake-up. I have 2 other laptops and they connect in a speed of light. All of the laptops have Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/BG Network connection and the same latest driver.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI had a problem trying to connect my Canon Pixma 4000 so that I could access it wireless via our home LAN. I have one laptop(the wife's) attached directly to the router (cable service from Optimum). My laptop is used wirelessly from another part of the home. All was working well, except I could never get the printer to work so that I could use it wirelessly, so I had it plugged in directly to my laptop. Up to this point, it was all ok. I have AVG and ZoneAlarm running on both computers. A friend, (really) was at my home and volunteered to connect the printer so that it would work wirelessly. He is a UNIX administrator, manages a number of pc's too. I thought, "this is great, my own administrator".
To shorten the story, he removed ZA, the computer will not work wirelessly, only works when connected directly to the modem and the printer doesn't work wireless. I called ZA, and they guided me through removing all the "orphans" that were left behind, so that cleared up a problem whereas I could connect to the net, but couldn't get to another url. I did not re-install ZA yet, because I don't want to add anything else into the mix. I will post a HJT log if that is what is needed. I DO NOT care if the printer works wirelessly. I will live with it connected to the back of my computer, BUT, I do want my laptop to work wirelessly so that both me and my Frau can be on-line at the same time. I have been through the IP address checking, all is ok there. If I try to connect via the SYSLINK wireless, I get nothing, even PING ing different sites gets no valid response. Regrettably, I have some tech knowledge, but not enough to figure out this one.

The "find a connection" Wizard seems to want to find a dial-up connection and nothing in the way of broadband. I use a Linksys Wireless G PCI Adapter card. The reinstallation did not wipe out any documents or user created files, so am wondering if there is a place in the old Windows files that I can use to get my old connection?
