i read some articals and stuff about pcmcia technologies. i saw that you could get a CPU PCMCIA card. Can anyone help me find one? my pc is to old to upgrade the processor. getting a CPU PCMCIA card seems to be the only way to upgrade my pc and make it a lot faster. Can anyone help me find a CPU PCMCIA card?
View 7 RepliesI am pulling my hair out. What little there is left, that is. Trying to use a USB 2.0 HDD (Western Dig.) by way of a PC Card USB 2.0 controller in my laptop (HP zt1130). Nothing I try seems to work.I went to SP1 because, supposedly it would have updated XP's USB 2.0 support, etc., etc.Went thru three other adaptors with same results using XP w/o SP1. Currently using Adaptec AUA 1422 (2 USB, 2 Firewall ports). I can transfer files from my Primary HDD and the External HD (using the USB 2.0 adaptor) but only at extremely slow speed. For example: 1 Gig file takes 14-15 minutes. I was expecting something more like 2-3 minutes. Any thoughts out there?

Its a brand new computer system setup for my little brother, and he can't even use it He's all bummed out, and if someone could help it'd be GREAT! The computer is a Gateway - and I looked through BIOS, and didn't see anything about disabling/enabling the onboard sound.
View 14 Replies View RelatedTry removing the card and see if you have the sound back. Se if you have sound with just the video card installed without its drivers. If same issue on Xp, Vista, the most probabily the card is not supported on the computer.Try a clean reinstallation after installing the video card.

View 7 Replies View RelatedFor some reason Windows keeps telling me that ALL drivers i install aren't "Windows Logo verified" and asks me if i wanna procceed or not, while this might seem normal i know that its not, becouse drivers that i used to install with no problems now this happens. Also i have LOTS ( and i really mean LOTS ) of "Found new hardware what action do you want to take" dialogs during an hardware instalation when this also didn't used to happen before. For example i just installed my X-Fi Sound Card, before it would install with no prompts what so ever, now when i'm installing it i had about 15 prompts telling me that it found new hardware and i had to choose "Find drivers automaticly", and after i did that i would get the "Driver is not Windows Logo Verified" prompt. It all seems to work fine eitherway if i just choose "continue" with the prompts, however this is becoming quite annoying since it happens for every driver i install.

Why is this as i've installed the drivers i got with it. Is it because the copy didn't come with the laptop so it doesn't even know i have a pcmcia slot? If so how can i get round it? View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever i install drivers on my pc, (i've tried graphics card drivers and wireless network card drivers) my pc stops working. When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. I decided to uninstall the graphics card drivers, and the game worked perfectly, but the graphics were REALLY bad. So i thought i might need to update some other drivers, so i tried to install my wireless network card, but when i finished installing the drivers when i had to restart my computer, it flashed the BSOD.... AGAIN! I need help urgently as im going to a LAN gaming comp called "rezidue" and its on in 2 weeks, i need my pc fixed by then! All these problems started when i upgraded my CPU. Everything was running smooth, and i was happily playing along on my computer, when i was asked what my FPS was in counter-strike, and i was all "mine are 65!" and there like "wow that sucks, mines 130" so i set out on my epic quest to get better FPS then everyone else and MAN THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I upgraded from my celeron 2.8ghz cpu to a P4 3.0ghz HT cpu, and thats when things started messing up on me. View 11 Replies View RelatedFirstly I have a pc which I installed Win XP Prof onto. All worked great. Then took out modem card and replaced with ethernet card. Again no problem. However, when I went to boot the compute up a week or so later it went through the boot process and then just before I would expect to see the Windows logo with blue sky background appear I "sometimes" get a blue screen flash up with a message which you cant read unless you can slow down time and then the PC restarts and goes through the whole procedure again.
I did manage to start in Boot logging mode and watch to see where the problem was. It seemed to be something to do with the Display adaptor. I found the appropriate solution on the web and although I now get further on into the boot, it still restarts. When i try to run the logging thing (!) it does not want to play any more and just boots in the normal fashion. I have tried defaulting the BIOS, checking the file system for damaged sectors etc all to no avail.
I have a PC with a built-in media card reader, and when I use the compact flash portion of that reader a certain program is always launched. I would imagine that initially I indicated which program to open. Is there any change to change that program?

So I purchased a new one didn't really look at it very well but its a Geforce 7300GT 512MB and when I install the latest drivers and promptly restart the computer it freezes on the Windows is now loading screen.
Now I have 1 guess as towhy its doing this is insufficient RAM but I'm not sure.
Can anyone reccommend a good sound card for my computer for music production and also I have been told my computer speed needs to at least 300ghz to run these applications together,,,,Any ideas I thought memory makes the computer run faster.

There is no id on the laptop apart from the COA for XP and Z600 on a sticker underneath it. How can I find out what make it is so I can find the drivers. View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile I was deployed my wife inserted an Mini SD card in to the card reader built into the computer. When she removed the card windows locked up, as soon as she reinserted the card windows worked fine. She removed the mini SD card from the adapter to use in her phone, and windows still worked fine, but as soon as she removed the Mini SD adapter from the card reader windows locked up and the windows would hang during start-up with out the adapter. Reinserting the adapter cured the freeze and hang, but windows ran very slow.I removed and reinstalled the card reader drivers and was able to remove the adapter, but windows still hangs on start-up with out the adapter placed in the slot.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI built three computers with Abit NF7S (used) with Athlon 2800 (new) XP Pro with the same cheap power supplies (400 watt) that came with the case for 20 bucks. One of these computers has been restarting itself about one time every two weeks for no apparent reason since the day I put it together. When I send the error report in Microsoft says "a device driver". But does not know details. The other computers have the same video card and programs? I did ncheck the restart after fail and now a blue screen comes up with a bunch on lingo.

Kind of confused me a bit, since the card is exactly the same since we bough the computer about 3 years ago. I'm wondering were to get these drivers, since I cannot connect to the internet, none of the installation cd's drivers work, and the device manager is so vague about what specific hardware it is.

I don't get any error messages or anything of the like, my computer just freezes and that's that. I've checked my video card for overheating by using the nVidia monitor program and it runs fairly cool, I guess i should double check what the numbers are under stress but I don't see any artifacts or other weird images on my screen that would suggest a dying card (i use a bfg 8800gts 640mb). My motherboard also runs pretty cool too so i would highly doubt it's a heating issue there either.just recently i had to replace the motherboard due to failure and i fear whatever is causing these crashes may have caused my previous motherboard failure and possibly this new one to fail as well.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI Installed the Microsoft .NET Framework because it was listed as a high priority update and it appears that Windows Cardspace was installed with it. Windows Cardspace shows up in control panel as a vertical file such as are in Windows Vista. Also cardspace freezes the computer and keeps it from restarting. Should I uninstall the .NET framework 3.0?The freezing and restarting problems only happens when I'm trying to use cardspace(actually cardspace never loads.)

I tried to install ZoneAlarm last week which crashed during the installation. This has caused multiple issues:1 - Can't shut computer down - I can get to the "log off", "shut down" and "restart" option of which none do anything so I'm forced to unplug as the power on/off doesn't work either.
