Trojan Generic 16.BIBE

Feb 13, 2010

I got 2 Trojans on both of my computers, both computers are ASUS (Custom built) running XP Home SP3, IE6 with Bose Speakers... AVG associates the sound driver with the trojans, which I don't understand... The first step would obviously be to delete the sound driver and install a new one, but I don't know of a TRUSTED site.

Apr 1, 2006

I have windows xp, i have avg antivirus and have run the tests in pc pitstop and done a regular search thru windows for the Trojan-Dropper.VBS.Inor.cz but can't locate it on my pc. My IE browser freezes everytime i go to a particular site and yet when i ask if anyone else has trouble with that site only a very few people say yes. The solution they give me is to download Mozilla and use it for that site. That doesn't protect me from the trojan completely infecting me does it? Can anyone tell me how to delete this trojan?

Generic Icons That Don't Work

May 19, 2006

I was given a Toshiba notebook and only told it doesn't work. It will boot into XP but all of the non system icons have the same generic icon. Non of the icons work (nothing happens when you click on them). Basically can't get into anything. Trying to run system restore from Run brings up the no program associated with this file message. Safe mode is the same and Last Good Config was also the same. I tried running system restore from Safe Mode with command prompt using %systemroot%system32estore strui.exe. which brings up an empty system restore box. Although it looks like it came with a XP CD, all that I have is a restore CD. One other thing that bothers me is that about once a minute what sounds like the system fan goes on for about 10 seconds. I don't mind using the restore CD(it's not my laptop or info that will be erased), but I would like to avoid that if possible.

Generic Host Process

Aug 15, 2006

i have a "generic host process for win32 services" error after i've connected to internet with adsl usb modem.and my connection is lost till i shutdown and restart.i tried lots of things, do a google search but couldn't solve.when i restart the computer and do not dial for internet, no error occurs.
but when i dial and start to surf or download something it gives this error at different times.
sometimes the error occurs 10 minutes later sometimes 1 hour later.when i dal to the internet my network connection icon(near the time in the lower right corner) says limited connection or there's no connection.
i think that's beacuse it cannot receive ip from my ISP.how can i solve this limited connection problem?i removed the drivers installed again, removed the drivers and installed the old ones.do a virus scan with latest updatesdo a system restore but nothig changes.

Restoring File Association To Generic

Jun 14, 2007

I know the standard file association procedure, and yes I searched this forum first. (and MS) which wasn't helpful, so here goes: once you open the context menu on a generic icon and browse the 'open with' list, you HAVE to make sure to uncheck the 'always open with' checkbox or your next association will be forever linked. you can change it, but only to a specified app. I want to switch the association back to generic. I don't want the file to be associated with anything. problem is, there is no 'restore' option on my newly associated icon (there should be). For example, if I switch the file association AGAIN, I will see restore button. But I can't restore to it's OG generic icon.

These drivers have to be associated directly with the card on 1st try install because there is no auto loader for USB soundcard. I hit ok, at the wrong time, somewhere in the process. And now XP wont let me search for the drivers whenever I try to reinstall them by using plug and play

Directx Error: Tells Me I Am Using Generic Drivers?

Jun 21, 2010

I recently got a virus on it and reinstalled xp. Now all the games I used to play on it are coming up with directx errors. When I looked at the errors in the diagnostic tool it tells me I am using generic drivers. So I popped my driver disk in and installed them all but it still gave me the same error. So I reinstalled directx 9.0 with no fix. I understand that this thing is a beast and I should just stop using it but, it is the only pc I want to clutter up with old games and stuff. And I know it is compatible because I used to play these games before.
