Oct 23, 2006
my problem is that wen i turn on my computer it loads for like 5-10 seconds then it turns off. i have replaced the motherboard and the power box because of this and it still does it. i have unplugged the cd drive and all the fans and everythin cuz i thought it waznt enough power and ive tryed only loading one HD at a time and it still turns off. please contact me through AIM: PIMPstashi0 or just PM me through here
When I switch on the main power, the computers starts automatically ie. without switching the CPU. The following message is displayed on the screen 'CMOS settings wrong.Press F1 to restore defaults and continue' Upon pressing F1 the machine starts. I do'nt know how to set CMOS settings right Time/Date settings change automatically.
I cannot install any software.Messages like file missing.Cannot open installer pkg.Contact your vendor etc. I do'nt have the installation cs availablewith me.However when I try to repair/reinstall with the help of my other win xp cd, i get the message 'key no. is wrong.I cannot format the c: drive from within.
I turn the XP firewall on. Do a complete shut down. Once back on, the firewall is off again?I have ZoneAlarm and have been running the present configuration for a couple years now. It just started doing this recently and I am at a loss for the reason. Why??? I do virus definitions daily! Spybot! AdAware! and so on. Must be something simple though.
My PC automatically starts up at exactly 12:00 every night. It starts up and shows the login window. Really annoying. Does anyone have an idea on how to turn this off?
Recently when my computer boots, chkdsk starts running automatically. Thats ok. It does step 1 0f 3, great, does 2 of 3, however when it is doing step 3 of 3 its freezes at some percent over 50% and gives the following error:
"An Unspecified error has occured"
NOw everytime i reeboot my computer chkdsk runs and the same error occurs. I need chksdsk to complete its check because i dont want chkdsk to run at the beggining of every reboot it takes to long.
In recent weeks the computer screen keeps freezing with the cursor being replaced by the hour glass symbol. This usually happens after several hours computer usage - but sometimes it occurs soon after the computer is turned on.When this happens, I am unable to log off; the computer on/off button does not work when the screen freezes and I have to turn the computer off at the mains. In order to be able to log back into my broadband internet connection I have to turn the computer and and off twice and then on again Sometimes when the computer screen image freezes a message box appears always saying "End programme" (i.e. "End programme - CiceroUIWndFrame" or "End programme - mixer").
running xp on it. was having problems before so restored to factory settings doing a hard disk format in the process. problem still occuring.could it be ram/overheating?
i seem to be having a problem with my second computer. it keeps turning off and on. it beeps when ever it turns on.i have no idea what the problem is.i was trying to reformat the drive but it would not stay on long enough to read the cd.so i was thinking it might be the harddrive. so i put another harddrive in it that i know is working fine. it does stay on but i get first the safe mode screen. it does not matter what option i pick like start windows normally or start in safe mode after i hit enter i get a blue screen telling me windows has shut down to protect my system from a fatal error. it tells me to check my harddrive for viruses or errors. my problem is i don't know how to get past that blue screen to check my harddrive. i have to turn the computer off. it happens every time i turn it on.i would give you a log report but i can't make one.
I've been having really bad computer troubles recently and really need some help, cause I've wracked my brain trying to think of possible solutions here.To give a bit of background:The computer in question is an AMD Athlon 1800+ that I've had for about 3 years now. It's not the most stellar computer, but I mainly use it to surf the web and play some low-end games nothing spectacular.Recently however it had started to reboot constantly, and eventually just power off and never come back on. I figured it was the power supply, so I purchased a new 400W one, installed it and everything was working great.Fast-forward a couple weeks later, and I started to hear a really odd noise coming from the computer. It sounded almost as if sparks were flying around inside, but I removed the case and checked what the problem was, and it seemed the CPU cooling fan was having some troubles, and eventually stopped working. So just today I went out and bought a new CPU cooling fan, installed it, and again, everything was working fine.
However, just tonight, the computer began to reboot randomly again, and now it is at the point where it will not turn on, and when I do power it on, it just idles and beeps constantly. They are fairly short beeps, but they continue on and on indefinitely. I read up on the beep codes and how they coordinate with the BIOS setting, but problem is I have no idea which BIOS setting I have, so I am not sure what could be the problem. To be safe, I began to unplug the cards one by one, seeing if any of them stopped the beeping, but to no avail. So I am at a total loss here Having just bought those two things recently and STILL having the computer act like a pile of garbage is disheartening to say the least, and I just hope someone may have an idea on what or how I could fix this.
My PC is around 6 years old, maybe older, and for the last couple of months, mostly during the night (which to be honest scares the hell out of me), it will turn on randomly. Sometimes it's when I move the mouse, which I know had something to do with a setting in the BIOS, but sometimes it's for no reason at all. It just...boots. Sometimes straight after I turn it back off. I've had to unplug it at night.I always shut it down properly - no standby or hibernation.
here's the deal my vista kept getting blue screens so I reinstalled it. I was unhappy with it and tried to install XP. The computer keeps turning off on install while its loading files. I've formatted several times to try and get this working so now I don't even have an os to get on the computer with. I'm running an acer aspire 5100. I tried to get back on by installing vista again but the expanding files part of the install stops at 90% and I get an error. Repairs from both xp and vista install discs don't do anything.
I don't understand why, but my computer is turning itself on! Just now - 6:08 PM, PST it turned itself on. Could it be someone controlling the computer remotely? Could it have to do with "Hibernate?" Usually I use "Hibernate" to turn off the computer.
I turn on the computer and it starts to load.I see the Windows screen then the computer just shuts down and restarts again. It has done this around 40 times now in 4 days and just wont turn on.Is this some kind of short somewhere in the computer.I also disconnected it from the power source and tried a new one and still the same thing.
When i log in everything loads like its going to work but then after the last thing loads it goes to a black screen and you can't do nothing, but you can sign in on safe mode, have any idea of what to do in safe mode to fix it???
I'm not sure whether this is a hardware or software problemBasically at random times my computer just seems to lose power and shuts itself off. Ive have taken it too computer shops and had it looked at, they have done various things like change motherboard etc and none of that has helped. The last piece of advice I had was that it was probably software related and the best way to fix it would be to simply wipe the system and start from scratch but if possible id like to avoid that.Sometimes the PC will stay on for 4/5/6hours at a time and run fine, other times after just 5 minutes it will shut itself off. Then when I try to turn it back on it won't switch on unless it is left for a while.
when i turn it on it goes all the way to the windows xp logo thing but then it turns off and restarts and does the same thing over and over again...i managed to get in to my computer with safe mode ..and tryed system restore..but it didnt fix anything it says it has a problem with the drives or somthing like that
Recently, my computer has started beeping when I don't want it to. I have turned all the sounds off and have muted everything on the computer. Its not a windows sound mp3 file playing but the generic beep your computer gives of.
windows xpwhen I turn off my computer it usually takes 4 minutes to turn off, no matter if I just turn the computer on and do nothing. I turned it on for a hour and did nothing and it took 3 minutes to shut off
Windows XP SP2 seems to be working normally, when I click Shut Down the computer proceeds to turn off. Afterwards the harddrive powers-down, the fans stop running, etc. Then for no reason, the computer turns back on after a brief period of time off (varied: 1hr, 15min, 8 sec) as if someone pushed the power button.I did not install any new software, or update/added on new hardware when this problem started to happen. Im unable to trace the source of this error
hey when i turn on my computer all the lights turn on and it makes this noise the fan starts but then it stops and everything just turns off the screen comes up NO INPUT SIGNAL and then POWER SAVING.
When I run a scan with Super antispyware on windows xp my system tuns off. I hear some beeps before it dies. The system runs fine if I don't run the scan. I ran the scan in safe mode and the same thing happened.
When the computer boots, the loading Progress Bar of Windows XP is displayed, but as soon as the computer goes into Windows XP, the screen turns black and stays black. wat is the cause of this problem and its solution?
ever since I installed xp I've been having this problem .When I'm done useing my computer I shut it down and walk away.I saw it shut down I heard it shut down it is shut down. When I return into the room the computer is up and running and I've seen it turn on by it self.Is there something somewhere that i need to set?
I have a Computer problem i couldnt solve. When i push the power button on my case, the fans and the Bios beep are noticed. After that it just stops, it wont go past that point.
I have an eMachines Mod. T2642. OS WindowsXP Home sp2. When I plug in the power cord, the fans start up and the HD LED starts to flash and there is a clicking sound coming from the cpu. This is as for as it goes...no p.o.s.t. no nothing. The power switch will not turn the system off.
I have a Gateway computer with Windows XP. As soon as XP starts to load the system board speaker starts to beep. The beeping is not consistant and periodically beeps in a different tone. I repartioned and reformated the disk but I still have the problem. Is there any one with an idea of what might cause this. It does not appear to be heat.
I used at work, BartPE burned CD and a formatted USB thumbdrive (which I did not create) to boot my CPU's and it installed an "image" of windows XP onto the drive using Norton Ghost and everything thing moves great.I have read that most imaging software can be used to do this with BartPE. What I have not figured out yet though is how and where you put the image in BartPE when you do the "build" and then make it start ghost or the 'image' upon bootup in the cpu.
right now i have successfully created the BartPE CD and "thought" i had used the CMD to format C: drive then told it where to install the files from BARTPE to C: drive, which did not work ( i dont guess) for the computer now starts up into the BartPE without the CD rom now, but NO
Recently I moved back to Australia from Washington State. I unpacked my harddrive and loaded up the computer. I noticed that the fan will kick off when I turn on the computer, or sometimes in the middle of doing something online. The computer is in a cold place so I know it's not overheating, the fan is loud and it turns off and on rapidly, and just whenever. The area around the computer is well ventilated.
