SYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM / Safe Modes Will Not Load Up

My Compaq Presario C330EA is saying WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM is missing or corrupt. Safe modes will not load up. BIOS will (F10), but I'm lost when it comes to that.It says insert Windows System Restore disc or something, but I don't have that.Usually I go to Start>All Programs and eventually boot the computer up in a mode where I select what I think is called 'destructive' recovery this wipes everything except what was on the computer out of the shop.
i would like to start windows in safe mode so i can run some antispy ware , but when i start it in safe mode nothing loads up just a black screen with the words safe mode in each corner.
can anyone help, i ran registry mechanic, not sure which version, it said restart pc, now pc wont even boot up into safe mode, how do i get in so i can save my work and try to fix the problem. running windows xp pro sp2.
On a friends laptop, yesterday all of a sudden her keyboard give in and the right hand half of the keyboard stopped working. Well, didn't stop working, but just displayed the wrong characters. I'm 99% sure (don't ever want to be 100% incase ur wrong eh? ) that it isn't a hardware fault, but infact a software problem, but I can't find the source of the problem.I done all the usual checks on the system from my side. I got her to check for spyware/malware/etc, virus scan with latest definitions, the lot. The problem still didn't go away. Under safe mode within the Administrator profile, the keyboard works fine and all the keys work. I couldn't understand why this was, but then she told me last night that she found something out even more puzzling. Even under safe mode, when she goes into HER profile, the keyboard stops working again.
I installed "The Lock XP" on my system and when I restarted I was locked out of everything. I have already contacted Tech Support for "The Lock XP" and I was talking to her for three days trying to figure this out...and well she was unable to. So here is where we left off...
I cannot load Safe Mode, Safe Mode w/Networking, or Safe Mode w/Command Prompt. When I do try to load a Safe Mode, except "Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)" it loads, says it is starting windows and then restarts. I cannot access C: Drive, cmd.exe, notepad.exe, I cant download, but can access the internet by double-clicking on Windows Internet Explorer. I have XP Home on a HDD which does a restart loop continuosly - gets to the Windows logo and restarts.Used a XP disk to do a Repair thats OK to start with gets to the "Checking Drive C:" - Yellow Bar goes across.Then "Windows has finished checking drive C and now needs to restart to continue Setup" - another loop I thought that once the yellow bar completes, it goes on to Repair.PS - won't load Safe Mode either
My computer reboots every time it reaches the welcome screen. Sometimes it actually gets into windows but not long enough to do anything. I have tried everything except of reformatting or trying to refresh the os as I don’t have my xp disc. I tried safe mode and tried safe mode with networking but same problem. I tried VGA mode people seemed to have thought might be a video thing still reboots. I tried to disable auto restart to see if I could get any type of error message but still reboots.
I cannot start up XP. When I do a black screen comes up to try and boot up in other modes,( safe, normal, with previous configuration etc). None works. I went to BIOS message and it states an IDE driver for Fasttrack is missing/ not connected?
I hit the power button and I get the blue screen with the Dell logo and then the black screen that says, "Initializing Intel (R) Booting Agent..." in white text at the top. (All normal). Right after that, it goes to an error page with the text, "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware of software change might have caused this" and so on and so forth. To my knowledge, there have been no recent hardware or software changes. My options from there are as follows:
- Safe Mode - Safe Mode with Networking - Safe Mode with Command Prompt - Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked) - Start Windows Normalliy
I am unable to start in any of the modes offered to me. I have a hp pavilion a335w home pc, O/S Windows xp home with serv pack 1. This was pre installed when purchased. Problem: in the middle of using mcafee removal tool my system crashed when it rebooted I got this messege: windows could not start because the following file missing or corrupt: windowssystem32configsystem. My question is this, what is the best way to hopefully replace the missing file so I dont loose everything.
Win XP Pro, unknown SP. The computer belongs to a friend, Jo. Someone cloned Pat's HDD to an identical HDD, IDE, Western Digital. Upon boot, Jo was greeted with c:windowssystem32configsystem is corrupt. Problem onset after someone the cloning. As far as Jo knows, the source / original HDD was working fine prior to the clone.
It's been a while since I had to do this so I'm looking for a little refresher here. Just booted up on my XP partition with the message: "windowssystem32configsystem file missing or corrupt please use 'r' for repair. I know I've got to go through the repair recovery, but I can't remember if I use the fixboot from the DOS prompt or fixmbr. Any suggestions or cleaner way to fix this would be greatly appreciated, I guess if all fails it will be back to the dreaded fdisk.
My computer refuses to start telling me it is missing windows system32configsystem and suggests I start setup and type r to repair.I have done this and get a menu of commands which I dont have any idea how to use. I would be grateful if someone can give me step by step instruction on how to proceed.Instruction to do this followed by do next would get me through but it may help me in the future if an explanation of each step is given
because the following file cannot be found or is corrupted: WindowsSystem32ConfigSystem The system is running Windows XP Home Edition. Will Windows Setup Repair fix this? Can I use a Windows Upgrade disk or do I need the disk for the full product?

I've looked in alot of websites about how to solve this problem but I can't find any solution to the problem without the cd. I can't bypass it by doing any of the F8 options. First my computer was cutting off in the middle of any program. I decided to delete everything on the drive and reformat it and reload windows xp. While trying to load windows xp it would load the set up but when going to load files it locked up everytime. I tried also loading windows 98, 95 and they too locked up. At one point it said I had a virus in my boot sector and at another time it said I had a virus in my RAM. I got a program called PC Beginner to help partition my drive and redo the MBR. I can partition the drive and format it but windows still doesn't load. Now I wonder if there is a problem with the mother board and I have a dual bios board, I was wonder if there is a program loaded in the dual bios that may somehow causing my problem. If so what can be done to clear the problem? How can I get windows reloaded?
PC was rebooted and this message showed up. I couldn't get to safe mode so I put the XP disc in. I got to the D:winint dir and tried to run bootcfg to scan for the boot file. It came back that it couldn't find it. I was able to see the dir's and data on the 2 drives. I ran chkdsk to see if that would solve the problem, it didn't. Do you think this is a BIOS problem or a missing boot problem. If it was the BIOS would I be able to read the drive. Looking for a fix without destroying everything.
My computer randomly started displaying this error upon start up a week ago and I have no clue what is causing it. I googled it and seen that it could be caused by a linksys wireless router, one was installed on the system before, but has been uninstalled for quite some time now. Can anyone help me correct this or at least help me figure out what is causing it?
I was wondering what the difference was whether you had a program load at startup (by checking a box within the program to have it load when the computer boots) and unchecking that box but moving a shortcut to the programs executable into the startup folder on the start menu.
That is my simple question...How it was name safe mode? is it really safe?what happens during safe mode as compared to normal mode and all of the experts suggest to do these(scanning, running, etc) in the safe mode?can files be affected in this mode?
I put an older Samsung CD ROM in a computer I just built, then installed Win Xp on it using this same drive to do the install. After installation I tried to use the CD ROM to install software, and it will not load the disc. When a disc is loaded the cursor shows a disc as if loading and does this several times but does not load. When using the tool bar desktop shortcut menu and placing the cursor on the drive when accessed here it always shows empty. It is recognized in the device manager and shows to have no problems. Ran the troubleshooter with no success. Checked out Doug's Tips and Tweaks and nothing there helped.
I am having problems getting windows to load on my friends pc, when I boot up I am getting a blue screen saying unmountable boot volume, I have tried to reboot using the 6 disk option which then takes me to the recovery console once I enter R and typr in the chkdsk /p (have tried /r aswell) I get the following message: autochk.exe could not be located in either the startup directory or the cdrom drive.type the full path <including drive letter> for the location of autochk.exe
I have been trying to install my scanner and everytime I put the CD for the scanner, and hit run to load it up, nothing happens, I tried both the cd and cd/rw drive and nothing.I also checked the device manager to see if everything was there and it was.
