My Taskmanager, msconfig and regedit will not remain open. I realize this is due to a virus or spyware, but i still haven't been able to fix this problem. I had to recently restore my entire computer so i've held back on reinstalling many things. I am also unable to install any windows updates due to an error (without them, im pretty sure im more prone to getting more spyware and viruses).

i always see rundll32.exe running in the taskmanager.i already know the basics abotu this program: it runs when you view ie properties or add/remove prog list, etc.the rundll32.exe thing pops up outta nowhere in the taskmanager.or sometimes, a flash pop-up ad comes up on the screen blocking everything. when i press the close button, rundll32.exe is still running. i hafta "end task" mto get rid of it completely (sometimes sound is still runing as well, until i end the task)ok so now, after about an hour using my computer, rundll32.exe appears on the tm again. it usually, if not always, comes in a pair. NOW, i see more and more being added every few hours/day. there are currently four of them running right now.
When I turn on my computer, I get a message that says explorer.exe has closed down and when I try to start Task Manager, it closes that, too. I'm on the computer right now, but I'm using an Ubuntu Live CD.

Well not that the maturity levels have risen, I have no need for a password on my computer. StartControl PanelUser AccountsRemove Password. That's done, but when I reboot, I still get the XP Pro login box. No password is required, but I still have to press enter to move on. I'd like to get rid of this.Also, when I press control+alt+delete I am brought again to the goofy XP Pro menu where I can choose to bring up the task manager, lock my computer, change password, shutdown, etc. I'd like for this too, to be gone. I would like the taskmanager to show up.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi recently had a couple of trojans on my computer. they started to make my computer crash alot and they changed my background to a huge warning sign..it had said warning your computer is infested with many trojans malware and adware. i ran alot of scans and now i am very sure that its all cleaned up. But when i try to access my taskmanager i cannot. i have read another thread wich told me to type in taskmngr.exe or something like that the run thing but it just said task manager has been disabled by admin. how to reenable it and i am the admin. also when i try to change my background via right click>properties>desktop where i should be able to scroll through the backgrounds is all locked up and disabled.
View 14 Replies View Relatedi ran some pretty complicated malware-removal programs since my PC (on the office network) was showing loads of trojans and other malware. in the order of running, i ran Malwarebytes, MGTools, Combofix with the windows recovery option. Then, on not having found anything substantial, I uninstalled Combofix with the /u optiom and deleted C:Combofix and later, proceeded to delete C:MGTools.The PC allows me to do a Ctrl+Alt+Del log in, and once I hit Return after entering the password, it just shows me the blue background to the desktop - No items, no menus.Same thing happens in safe mode.
View 9 Replies View Relatedon an old hp home pc running xp all updates, when i try to uninstall an installed prog/app i get a box pop up stating that the install log cannot be opened, therefore i am unable to uninstall by the usual means, yes i can delete the prog files and then tidy-up the registry but i would like to know whats stopping the log from opening in the usual way, im not aware of any app that may be locking the log and im not sure where to find access to the log apart from through prog files.

If I press the "home" button, the active window goes "home" but a new tab is opened with "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" in it. This happens every time I press the "home" button.
Can I stop it opening the new tab?
The only program i have open is excel. i think there are various programs running in the background because my CPU usage is at 100%. in the processes in the task manager i see rndrcus.exe and IEXPLORE.EXE. can i delete these? How can i get my computer to stop running programs in the background?

Therefore when I am on my pc I have no user settings, I.E. favorites list empty, no history, my documents, and all that useful stuff. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 40 GB HD on a 2005 Compaq Mobile celeron computer - always had about 20 GB free. Suddenly last month discoverd there was only 5 GB free. I looked on Control Panel Add Remove Pgms list and it shows only the original 4.5 GB trial MS 2003 Office which I have not opened and another 2 GB or so programs. I looked on all Drive C folders and it appease as 2-3 GB total. I looked on My Documents and less than 2 GB. I looked on desktop MS Word files I saved in special folders - onlyabout 3-4 GB Maximum.
All is within 1-2 GB or so that I had before. I did make more DVD copies with Nero Express on my external Sony DVD burner from my own originals of my own Stretching DVD's as i have done with same originals for over a year. Can not find any 2.8 GB or 5 GB files of the Videos anywhere that might have gotten recorded on HD.
Anyone know what caused the problem? I tried restarting my CPU but the problem still stays.
