How can I print a page that is longer than the screen? For example, a page that has to be scrolled down to see its entire contents.I am referring, specifically ,to the left side or the right side of the Windows Explorer ''directory'' or ''folders'' or ''files'' pages, which are much longer than one screen. Is there any way, using only Windows XP, that I can print those long scrolling LISTS of folders, or program files, or data files that are two or three screens in length?
i'm using xp home edition sp2 and an epson photo R800. The problem is, when I print a document or photo, I sometimes have to wait upto a couple of hours for it to print. I have changed the print priority to 99 but still the same. I have re-installed the drivers and checked all the settings and i can't see anything thats different as it used to print immediatly. I have tried changing to print immediatly after first page/after last page and everything else i can think of. I also have another PC on my w/less network sharing this printer but this has the same delay.

I want to print a list of all the programs I have on my pc, as I am wanting to do a total re-install. I have used the 'uninstall list' from highjack this, but not all of the programs are listed. There are shortcuts on my desktop, which are not in the program list.can I get a complete list of all the programs.
Used to be able to send the directory list using DOS command like DIR > LPT1: How do you now send a directory list to the printer?? The printer is on a USB port and named HP750 and the port says it is DOT... Tried using DIR > HP750 and DIR > DOT... but no luck. Anybody know how to list the directory to the printer?
Root of C: and any directory with a large (>3Gb) file or many files/directories is now taking up to 10 seconds to list on a P4 3Ghz 1Gb RAM.WinXP Home, SP2. Defragged, run scandisk, emptied temp files, deleted restore points and other junk, turned off antivirus just to see if it was that.
OS is Win 2K. I have a folder containing about 150 files Using Explorer, I can open the folder and view a list of the files. Is there any way to save that list as a text document?
I just added a "Directory List Print" to my right click options and somehow the default choice (highlighted at the top of the list) changed from "open" to "search".
Apparently the default selection governs what happens when you left click. I want to restore "open" as the default choice, but can't figure out how. Does it require a reg edit or a utility program or what? TIA
I installed SP2 for XP then I got the critical updates for SP2 installed. Now when I go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel no list is displayed, just the window saying to wait for list population. I've waited up to 15 min but there's no icon or any indication that anything is trying to happen. Other categories in CP work fine. So I'm not sure if the culprit would be the applet itself, the service pack or one of the priority updates, if any. I considered doing a system restore, I'll do it if so advised. I've run a spyware scanner and CleanUp!
my add -remove programs list in control panel takes a long time to compile the list. even with "show updates" unchecked. there are a couple that wont remove, games that my son installed and free trial ran out. one list under "start-programs" and the uninstall button leads to the documents folder, and "remove" says some file is missing. it still has a file in program files also.
Outlook Express folder list and Contacts list are not showing. I've walked her through the process of clicking on View at the top of the Outlook Express Interface and setting the Layout items so that her Contacts and Folder list should be on the screen, but they are not. I've tried everything I can think of to rectify the situation and I've run out of options. The way it is without her folders list she cannot access her deleted folder and her sent folder and cannot delete anything from those folders. Is there anything else I can do to bring up those her contacts list and her folders list?
I have a DOS based accounting system that I have used for years and I print to various printers on my network using the "NET USE" command. It has worked just fine until recently when it started taking 10 to 20 minutes to execute a "NET USE LPT1: /DELETE" command or to have a printout send to the printer. It seems that the print job is hanging up in my computer (DEL Inspirion 8200 WinXP) because the DOS application hangs up until it finally prints. I have just testing printing from a Windows application and it does the same thing. The printer that I am trying to print to is attached to a Win2000/Red Hat Linux dual-boot server and does the same thing no matter how the server is booted up.
I have a program called capital that we use for our point of sale.I had to replace a computer that died and the new one has Xp on it the old one had winodws 98 on it. The printer is on the win98 system and I want to make a network printer to it to print to but the problem its a dos program that will only print to LTP1.
I have a dell desktop p4 2.4ghz w/ 1 gig Ram. For the past month or so, I have been having printer freeze-ups. I have a HP1012 hooked driectly via USB, and 3 other networked printers (2 HP and a Brother laserfax printer). The weird parts - it will freeze randomly, and will freeze when printing to any of the printers!! I may go a week between freezes, or a day. When it freezes, I can not bring up the "PRINTER and FAXES" in windows, and when I click on the printer icon in my time tray, nothing happens. I then must usually cntrl-alt-del to end whatever program was printing, then restart. When I try to restart, I always get an "Explorer can not close" message and must "end now", before it will turn off, and then it will take forever in the "Windows is shutting down" screen before it reboots.
I have a LaserJet 1160 printer that is connected by USB (computer has no parallel port). Using Windows XP and have automatic updates turned on. This is a business computer, connected to a network.Early last week I came into find my computer had been restarted after a Windows automatic update. Didn't think to much about it. I went to print and my printer had disappeared from the system. I reinstalled (or tried) the printer and it took 3 or 4 tries. I kept getting errors (0x800703F2) about the DOT4USB driver not being able to be installed. Finally I was able to get the printer installed. It installed by the "Add new printer" option in the printer control panel after the 3rd or 4th time.
So, I have my printer now. Unfortunately it is extremely slow now when printing through Windows. It's like the printer is not getting the information very fast from the computer. This printer has always printed very fast. The status light would blink maybe twice before printing started on a full document. Now it blinks for 20+ seconds to just print a 4 word sentence from Microsoft Word. The only time it prints fast is when I print from inside a VPN connection (we connect to another company to run one program and from inside there is prints very fast).I've tried HP tech support but the printer prints fine when I hook it up to my laptop. I've replaced the USB cable, switched it to several USB ports on the computer, tried to update all of the drivers (that DOT4USB shows as a hardware update in Windows Updater every time but the installation fails). I'm at my wits end with this! I find myself directing 1+ page documents to a network printer outside of my office because the printer is just so slow.
When I go to device manager, under "Universal Serial Bus controller" the first one named "hp LaserJet 1160 series (DOT4USB)" has a yellow exclamation point over it. When I go to properties it says the drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28). Of course, when I try to install the drivers from this area I get a message that it "cannot install this Hardware. An error occurred during the installation of the device. The configuration registry key is invalid." I've googled that for days and can't find any help with it.
When i get a message in hotmail which has a couple of pictures tagged on the bottom it will only print the text and not the pictures unless it all fits on one page .If several pages are required only the first page shows any pictures, the other pages come out blank apart from the hotmail menu on the left hand side.
We rebooted the computer yesterday and when it all came up i had the followin error. xlm page cannot be displayed. underneath it has the following ///c:/documents and settings/candy/localsetting/temp/mr... Does this mean anything to any one.
when i send a print job from a Windows XP computer, i do not see the printer icon that used to appear on the bottom right hand conner of the screen (where the time is displayed). What setting could have gone wrong?
Two identical Dell PCs each with XP Home SP1, and a different USB printer on each. Both printers behave the same.On booting the PC and printing a document, the first page may or may not print, but then the printer goes to Offline mode.
I have XP set up with user accounts for each family member with myself as administrator and everyone else as limited accounts. Is there a way that I can disable printing from some of the user accounts? My 3yo daughter has a habit of printing stuff by accident 10 or so times.
My HP 7310 hesitates when I request a print job. The paper loads but then I wait about 30 to 40 seconds before it prints. It will not do multiple pages without the hesitation either. I've removed the HP software and reloaded several times and even HP has not come up with an solution. They said XP Serv Pac 3 was the problem and I removed it but the printer still acts the same.
It seems like just now I am not be able to print anything when i am on Internet explorer. I just to preview and/or print. No When I try to print it doesn't do anything if i try to preview it bring the preview page with noting in it. I can print any document or anything except when I'm on Internet explorer.
We have recently installed a PC of software that need an agent "pushed" out to each users PC. We also had turn on the file and print share option for all PC's. But since doing so, people are now getting a yellow dialogue bubble pop up in their sys tray EVERY time they print. I have been told that this may be a policy in GPO, can anyone give me any ideas where I could start looking?
I've been unable to find the (assumed) setting that no longer enables me to print any online page without the right margins being cut off...sometimes up to 1.5 inches of the page. So frustrated that I started using Firefox 3 months ago but the freezing after a day of use or using Acrobat drove me away from that browser.
I have a printer installed but when i try to print it keeps saying if i want to install the printer. And when i click yes it says: Operation could not be completed And when i try to delete my printer it says: Printer cannot be removed. The Print Spooler service is not running. And then i click RUN i type in services.msc and enter. Down the services list i go to Print Spooler and double click it. It says "Service status: Stopped". Well then i click start and after bout 10 seconds it goes back to stopped again
printer was not printing every other page as it used to do so I called Epson. The Tech had me uninstall my Epson printer with add remove and also from device manager. Then he had me download the latest printer drivers from Epson and them the subject title error message came up. The balance of the error message is: C:WindowsSystem32Autoexec.NT System file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows Applications. Chose Close or Ignore
Does anyone know what the problem could be with my printers not printing out envelopes? They will print out a letter but not envelopes though they act like they are printing but nothing prints when they come out in the tray? And, yes I have ink! LOL! Just curious as to what could be the problem.
I have a problem when printing JPEG's. The JPEG's file size increases dramatically when sent to a printer( eg from 630KB to 13MB).Could Windows be changing the file to a BMP before printing? If so, how canI stop this?
