Just happing a little outlook express problem, All emails I open, including newsletters and things I get from sites, no pictures on the page show, I just get a little [X] instead, like, if I have a email from ebay, there are heaps of these [X]'s all over the place where a little pic should be?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI use Windows XP Professional with SP2 and Outlook Express 6, the free AVG 7.5.524, and Comodo Firewall Pro ver. 2.4.18.184. Ocassionally, I will get an email from my brother with "suppose to be" embedded images except they don't show as embedded images, they are only attachments. But, he sends the same email to my sister and she sees the pictures in the email as they are suppose to be. All three of us use the same internet provider and my sister and I both use Outlook Express 6 and AVG 7.5.524. Now comes the crazy part: I get emails with embedded images from other people and they show in the email just fine. I don't have to open the attachments to view the pictures on anyone's email except his and I'm the only one that has to do this. I don't see the Red X's, it's just that the pictures aren't embedded as they should be. It's just a few lines of text and then some spaces and then more lines of text.
In fact, by looking at it, you can't tell where the pictures are suppose to be. If I want to see the pictures, I have to open each attachment and without pictures showing at the time of reading, some emails don't make sense especially the ones that have a lot of pictures and you can't tell which one goes where. If this was a problem with all of my email, I would think that it is my settings but it's only the ones that he sends. Also, if my sister received it like I do, then I would think the problem is on his end but as I stated earlier, her's works fine. Plus, it's not just one email. It's all that he sends with embedded pictures. I've checked my settings in Outlook Express and everything is as it should be. I've uninstalled Outlook Express and reinstalled but still I have the same problem. Does anyone have a clue as to what could be causing this?
When saving pictures from Outlook Express and Windows Xp the file name is "untitled" and the type is *.bmp regardless of the original name and extension.

Under Internet Options I have selected Outlook Express for my email service and this has been working satisfactorily for over 2 years. Recently when choosing to send a photo file as an email attachment, I get directed to Microsoft Outlook which has no "send" option. Two other users on my computer have no problems and automatically get Outlook Express for the same procedure. Why doesn't Outlook Express come up for me?

I had to change the names of the servers to: pop.att.yahoo.com and smtp.att.yahoo.com. The port settings are the same 465 and 995. Also, my password is the same. The problem is when I try to receive or send mail, Outlook Express repeatedly asks me to enter my username and password for the servers. The password box is checked on the logon box that comes up repeatedly but not highlighted. What am I overlooking?

I was very sucessful,but now the problem I have is as follows: If I click on a existing or make a new folder, a copy will be placed on the desktop. I attempted to deletethem one by one, but this deletes the folder in OS 6. At first I had the POP3 and SMTP settings wrong and when I fixed them I didn't realize I had both the web based email and Outlook Express open at the same time. When I see that I have mail to read I double click on the message and it opens in minimal size. I have to click maximum in order to read the message. Same thing when I am ready to type a new message to send. Opens in minimal size and I have to click maximum before I can type the message. Any way I can get to a full screen with the first click?
