Norton ghost was on this personal computer when bought and now expired. When I go into add remove program to remove it ,it won't remove and say fatal error during installation. This program is 85.75 mb and want to remove it.
I'm trying to fix my parents computer. They attempted to install a new printer and accompanying photo manager. After installing printer, it does not work. They decided to unistall photomanger and it starts uninstall them says fatal error. I got a win 16 subsystem error when trying to reinst printer software. I downloaded the printer driver. When istalling it prepares the install wizard and copies the needed files, then it stops installation and closes, no error message.
After formatting my computer im now in the stage of installing all the bits and bobs back on again. nothing will install and leaves me with the error message: "Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information" I couldnt find anything about why this is happening but i found a way how to solve it. to solve it it said: "Well problem finally solved. All you have to do is add a group called "Users" in the groups and users settings of the administrative settings and it will install..." I am using "Windows XP Home Edition" and "Service Pack 1" and i have not found anywere that allows me to do this.
I was just wondering, if you had norton ghost 9.0 can you copy your harddrive Operating system and all and if you had an older computer and you bought a new harddrive for it could you then copy your xp operating system and all onto the older computer? Like say you had an old computer with windows 98 on it. and you have a computer with windows xp. can you use norton ghost to copy the windows xp operating system and all the stuff on the xp computer and then if you formatted that win98 harddrive so it was empty then put the xp system on the old win98 computer harddrive and have it work?
I need some info on Norton Ghost 9.0. I have a 40 GB hard disk where I have installed Windows XP with SP2 and all the updates and will put all the necessary software like office 2003, Norton antivirus and bla bla bla I might need. Can I take an image of this hard disk and save it on a DVD or something and then can I restore the entire DVD on the same hard disk or any other hard disk (this is important to restore the image to another hard disk).
I've created a Norton Ghost (v10.0) image of my winxp os disk. Whan I want to do is to make it to a bootable dvd, so whenever I want to reinstall it all I need is to boot from the ghost image and it recovers my os partition. But I can't figure out how to do that. the files I've got from Norton Ghost: winxp_image.v2i NG Recovery Point Storage.ini computer_name.sv2i
I've just go through some of the issues on group and found that i might face this problem so i bought out for to get opinions. I've an old pc pointing to one of my drive using incremental drive backup(networked). And i'm using Norton Ghost 9 which claims to support bootup. Now i'm worried bout file system, does any of you had experience with ghost where it only able to read from FAT32? cause the drive keeping the backup is in NTFS. I'm sorry if discussion anything related to sysmantec is not welcome. But i tot i might get more experts idea here.
i created a norton ghost image of a machine, which i deployed onto a new pc. my problem is that when i go to run windows update, it runs through the process, finds a lot of updates, but then fails to run the update. the pc i took the image off would have had the latest updates, but on the new pc it looks like the windows update wont work.
I have XP Home on my computer and am useing XP's backup program and system restore to keep out of trouble but after reading alot of post on this newsgroup I have decided I need a better way to back up my OS. I would like to know which is the best and easiest to use Acronis True Image or Symantec's Norton Ghost
i got 50 PC with same Hardware. that means i can't install WINXP (sp2) one by one. so i use N.Ghost to clone then......(windows activated) how do i change the key in this case? i can't disactivate the key in SP2.
Using Norton Ghost 9 and Acronis TrueImage 11 on Windows XP service pack 3. Disk cacheing is turned off on all drives and external Drive S is set optimized for quick removal. Windows - Delayed Write Failed Windows was unable to save all the data for the file S:System Volume Information racking.log.tmp. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere. System Restore is turned off on all drives. When I attempt to write an image of 1.5-TB internal drive R onto external USB 1.5-TB drive S, Ghost hangs permanently at 2% with no error message. Acronis Error on attempting to write image of 1.5-TB internal drive R onto 1.5-TB external USB drive S: ERROR E00070021 Unable to create volume snapshot
I have two hard drives connected to my system. I will refer to them as A and B. I had previously taken a Ghost image of drive A and wanted to restore this image to the drive. However, both the drive were connected to the system when the restore occurred and the image got restored to drive B. Hence I have lost the data I had on drive B. The operating system in use is Windows XP. The version of Ghost used is Norton Ghost 2001
I recently built a new computer and it has been just an incredible load of troubles ever since the first boot up. I first installed Windows 2000 so I can actually boot up my computer then upgraded to Windows XP SP2. After this I had a messload of trouble getting errors during the XP installation which I believe were various fonts. Skipping over this the installation was successful and I was enjoying Windows XP. Now I did the automatic updates that is recommanded and let then download and install. Once they installed and the system rebooted, I never got to enjoy my computer.
After the restart the computer would hang where the log in screen should be then restart and do this over and over again. I thought this was an installation problem so I reinstalled 2000 so I could just reformat and fix the problem. Now my computer is rejecting every time I try to reformat and reinstall 2000 giving me various blue screen fatal errors and errors during the Windows 2000 setup preventing the installation from going any further..............
I built a new computer, amd 9600 phenom 64 bit processor, gigabyte mobo, 4 gigs ram lots of fans, nivida geforce 8500 gt video card, 750 watt atx power supply. Twp hard drives, 160 gb maxor ide and 500 gb sata western digital wd 500, 2 cd/dvd burners, 1 blue ray burner. I am uning windows xp pro 32 bit os and all my other programs on my western digital hard drive and everything works perfect including high definition blue ray reading and writing. However I want to install windows pro 64 bit operating system on the 160 gb maxor drive and I have tried and tried to install it and I just can't. I am no brain when it comes to compters rather an idiot. I do not want to dual boot the 500 gb hard drive I want a new and fresh installtion of windows 64bit on the ide maxor harddrive and keep what ever programs (so few) and 64 bit drivers and any thing else related to the 64 bit on this 160 gb ide drive.
When I try to install updates from Microsoft's site I get an error saying "Updates were not successfully installed." This happens during both manual and automatic updating. I search google.com high and low and cannot find a fix that works. This is the specific error from the WindowsUpdate.log FATAL: Error: 0x80070005. wuauclt handler: failed to spawn COM server FATAL: 0x80070005: ERROR: Remote update handler container process created (PID: 1656), but exited before signaling event
i had XP 2008 virus/spyware, which I think I managed to get rid of with Malwarebytes' Anti Malware and System Mechanic 7. Now I have a new problem. After receiving a recent download from microsoft, upon restarting, I get the blue screen of death with this message; STOP: C000021a (Fatal System Error) The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000)
I can't get anywhere into Windows, I've done F2, F8, F12, everything I could think of without risking more damage. I've booted from the system mechanic CD with the Hard Drive recovery, and while it said it found and fixed a problem, it didn't fix this one.
I have been getting the dreaded blue screen of death with STOP: c000021a (Fatal System Error)" Error Occurs when i log into my windows 2000 service pack 3 and my linksys wireless usb network adapter connects me to the internet. My computer will remain on and run fine if i do not connect to the internet. This also will happen if i connect to the internet using my backup 56k modem
i am trying to format hp a1268c windows xp when i do i get this error stop c00021a fatal error status 0x0000034 How do i fix this so i can format my computer?
Well I have never had 1 single problem with my computer until now. I decided to check for windows updates since I haven't done so in awhile. When I did, windows prompted me to install SP3 for XP. Everything ran smooth upon installation, so I restarted the computer as it suggested. Now, windows will not boot and it blue screens to "windows fatal error".
this is not a BSOD because the message is only my backgroud, my computer functions fine despite it. I ran a whole slew of antivirus stuff and killed off a bunch of nasty buggers, but the message didn't go away.I went to Display Properties and there were only two tabs, Screen Savers, and Settings. It was missing the Appearance, Themes, and Desktop tabs. So I went on here and found something about changing the registry files from 1 to 0 in a couple places. Well I got the tabs back, but I still cannot change my desktop background. It's all greyed out. My computer is functioning fine now and is armed to the teeth against new stuff, but it still has that annoying BSOD look-a-like.
On trying to install windows, all the file copying went well. Restarted my computer, and windows ran finishing up the second half of the installation. Then, I get an error that states the following:Fatal Error:One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. Installation Failed: D:ROOTXPHO1386asms. Error message: Data error (cyclic redundancy check). If it is just a CD error, is there any way to download a Windows XP Home OEM and burn it to a disc and run it from CD-ROM? Or can I try copying the CD and see if it fixes the error? Or are there any other solutions that I am not seeing?
I am having a major problem trying to install some s/w (Sansa MediaConverter) on my P4, Win XP SP2 PC. Just as the s/w begins to install I get a fatal error - (something like) "Unable to create a file that already exists ... C:Progam FilesCommon FilesInstallshieldengine6Intel 32iuser.dll" Since I was able to install the s/w on a friend's similar PC I think the problem is a compatability or bug with XP and/or the Installshield appln on my machine.
I followed some suggestions (from the Installshield support site) and cleaned up my temp file, deleted the 'Engine 6' folder and reinstalled the Installshield 'ikernal.exe' but this hasn't helped. Surprisingly when I tried to reinstall the 'ikernal' it also runs into exactly the same error! - so there is some issue with how the Installshield (Engine 6) is working on my PC.
I got the following message upon booting my pc.STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}Te Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000022 (0x000000000 0x00000000).The System has been shut down. The day before I did a windows update.I can not boot into windows.. Not even Safe Mode or dos prompt.
A dell 8600 laptop i had xp on it it was running slow for the last few days & i tried to reinstall it the system crashed during set up and i had to restart it and when it restarted it said set up is restarting and then it showed fatal error one of the components that windows needs to continue could not be installed manifest phrase error invalid at the top level of the document press ok to view log file and when i do thatthe log file appears and when i close it it restarts the comp and aganin goes through the same fatal error i have tried the safe mood and it says setup can't run in safe mood i have tried the last good config it won't run.
the blue screen blocks out everything! there is also a grey box that says "runtime error" at programC:windowsexplorer.exe. I shut down the computer twice and on the second time, when it came on it said "rage 128 v."
I want to install trend micro antivirus, but every time i try to install it it says norton 2003 is interupting it. Then i try to uninstall norton 03 and it says "Fatal Eror".
When I turn my computer on it shows me the normal Windows XP loading icon and then that goes away and I can watch the CPU light go haywire right as the blue screen (of death) says that there has been a fatal error (0x0000135) and the system has shut down. I have no clue what to do... the only way to bypass this (if you want to call it that) is to hit F2 and go to setup mode. I don't know what to do there. I've had problems before where the computer will only go to one or another BSOD and I've had to completely clear the hard drive and reload everything on it aka start from scratch. Usually my dad does this but first I would like to see if there is any other way to fix it.
have a gateway MX6453 notebook. I was having problems with it constantly rebooting it self. finally got it to boot in safe mode, couldn't really find or fix anything. tried to restart in normal mode, and did the restarting as soon as windows started to load. Thought I would try system revovery at the boot menu. It started up and started to run and kept giving error msgs about not being able to read or open files. (all files are on recovery partition). Well it frooze up about half way. Tried to run it again, and it starts to load and then BSOD. here is what i get STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x000026c (0x00000000 0x00000000) The system has been shut down. I want to know if this is something I maybe able to repair, or if i should send it back to gateway? My first guess is a bad hard disk,
When I try to open MS Word I get "Fatal Execution Engine Error (0x7927baca)" When I click "OK" I get a "WINWORD.EXE Common Language Runtime Debbuging Services" window that reads "Process id=0xd20 (3360), Thread id=0x7c (124) It affects other programs as well.
