There were no widescreen options. It should choose the monitor's native resolution on its own if the monitor is an LCD.

Now we have a new tower to go with exisiting 24" monitor. My problem is I can not get a old standard VGA monitor to work with the old system listed above. When I plug in the the VGA monitor plug in the VGA outlet in the old computer I get no signal to the monitor. What do I need to do with drivers or other wise to get the old computer back to being able to be used with the old VGA monitor?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI replace my old LCD monitors (Dell 1905s) with new acer P223w's. I have a dual monitor display.I power off both monitors with one switch that cuts off the power. When I do this however, Windows makes the sound like a device has been disconnected and it messes up my monitor settings. This is very annoying and it didn't happen with my other monitors nor does it happen on my other Windows XP system with different monitors. It's like Windows is trying to be "smart" by thinking the monitor is gone. I do not want Windows to care if the monitor is powered off.

System Control / Energy provides the possibility to define how long the
computer must idle to disable the monitor. I want to do that "by hand". Is
that possible?
I've got an HP notebook with Windows XP. I just went out and bought an s-video cable so I can use my TV as a second desktop, but I can't get the damn thing to work and now I want to kill. Here's what's happening: when I go into display properties and screw around with the 1 and 2 monitors and try to "extend my windows desktop", my monitor turns off for a second and the TV blinks like it wants to work, but then the monitor turns back on and the TV just stays blak. Same thing happens when I do the FN+F5 thing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Gateway computer that’s about 4 years old running Windows 98. It includes a Gateway VGA monitor (model EV700). I had to reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows using their resource CD’s. Everything is fine now except the monitor will only display the lowest resolution settings. I have tried to change the resolution through the display icon in control panel, but it will not allow me to increase the resolution. I have even gone to the Gateway web site and download the latest driver for this monitor, but still have the same results.
As a result, the monitor will no longer display graphics of any kind while on the internet or while working with photo imaging software.
My PC has just a VGA port. How can I setup a dual monitor?

View 49 Replies View RelatedMy computer is having some trouble. When I try to boot it up I get nothing from the monitor(LCD). This happened a while back and all I did was took the power cord to the monitor out, and plugged it back in. It worked like that for 2 months or so. Today he calls me and he is having the same problem. So again I unplugged the cord and replugged it back in. I got signal but it immediately went blank again. It will only work for 1 second. What could be causing this do you think? I hooked up two other monitors to his computer also. One of them (older one not sure if it works 100%, wouldn't see why not) would BOOT up fine, then once you got to login it would go black, and do exactly what the LCD did. I could unplug it plug it back in for some video. Then I brought over my monitor. It works 100% and I didn't get any video at all with it. I tried other power cords/outlets etc. What do you guys think it could be?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an older IBM 10in screen thinkpad running Win2000. Turned it on for the first time in a while the other day and the windows sign on screen is off the right and it is like I am on dual monitor. Can slide pointer to right and get to one side with startup menu then slide pointer back to left for icons. When put a screen saver on in tile mode, it duplicates it side by side but you have to scroll left to see both. Have gone into display and tried to change things but nothing works. When I go to settings, it shows only one monitor but says display [Multiple monitors} on silicon Motion LynxEM+.
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen I turn on my pc, the monitor doesn't show anything at all. I have no idea what casue the problem. Even I have the video card replaced, it doesn't solve the problem.
I don't think is the monitor problem as I tested the monitor from other pc and it works perfectly.
I'm running windows Xp and i shut down my computer and restart it like your supposed to and then when i restart my monitor is blank yet i can hear all of the sounds of start up. So i shut it down again and i still come up with a blank screen and now i'm using a external monitor to view my desktop. Now when i look at my laptops monitor i can vaguely see what i'm doing at all and the external monitor is fine. Also my laptop is creating alot of heat.

Is there a feature in the display properties that allows you to zoom in and out? There is a missing width about as wide as two taskbars around the whole screen.

The correct driver is Intel 82865G and I cannot find it anywhere in the old files. Can't download it from the Intel site either (problem #2!) Also, I tried shutting down and disconnecting the monitor then restarting with the monitor connected (no luck.)
View 3 Replies View RelatedMonitor goes into standby. Pc looks to be on, but a reboot is required to get it back on it's feet again. Dont think its a dodgy moniter cable. Could be overheating, but it's never happened before. Started last night. PC has been on for all day and every day nigh on 4 years. Can you think of anything that could be giving? Is it possible that a corrupted hdd could casue this - because I know mine are quite messed up. Cant think of much more than this. I've checked system logs and they turn up nothing in particular. When the pc turns off, it's under no abnormal degree of strain, nor is there any patturn in when it turns off.

So anyways, the display on my computer monitor turned black on me. Worst of all, I didn't even do anything to provoke this, it just all of a sudden turned black. This happened once before but I just restarted the computer and it worked again. Does anyone have any idea what's happening? Is it actually the monitor or something else.
I would to set my TV as my pc monitor. i can plug the cable from graphic card to the tv. that part is done. but i got 2 questions:

I just bought a new monitor 17"; I had a 15" hard on the eyes. Short of trying to use the monitor adjustments which are NOT easy to use and I'm trying to contact the company once the holiday is over is there any other way to give more contrast? I'm typing a lot of names and addresses onto white background, and I really need the names to be darker.

Is there a way to adjust the brightness of my monitor other than using the Menu/Controls that are on the monitor (using a SyncMaster 172n). I calibrate my monitor using Pantone Huey, having set the brightness / contrast both to zero, but it is still too bright.
I went through the Control Panel > Display settings but didn't see anything. Maybe it's hidden somewhere?
