Alright the Problem is, when I start the computer the key board and mouse are working just fine both showing lights and I can access the boot menu and everything through the key board. But when windows boots up both the mouse and the keyboard go dead, and there is nothing I can do besides looking at the User Login Screen as I can not use ether my mouse or keyboard.
Dell D 800 Laptop running XP SP2.Internal AND external Keyboards and Mouse NOT working after boot to XP. Can't enter cntrl/Alt/Del or anything to log in. Keyboard DOES work in Bios mode but is lost as soon as xp is loaded. Does NOT work in SAFE mode either because can't log in..(no Cntrl/Alt Del).I've tried repair and reinstall of xp but still does not recognize any keystrokes after boot to xp.
Windows XP Professional I can't get access to the hardware specs. My nephew put the computer together for me from componets purchased at Fry's. For years it has given no problems until now... I am unable to even log on to look up the CPU info...My nephew is in the middle of getting married or I would ask him.
The problem started with a MicroSoft Error message and inability to open/print Word docs. When I tried to open/print a doc. I was receiving error: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on OK to terminate the application." I researched this and found a fix on the Microsoft They stated that the problem occures if you upgrade/reinstall/repair Windows XP. A friend of my husbands had put my XP OP disc into my computer trying to copy it and I think he might have inadvertently loaded it? ...
I had left my computer on logged in on Windows 7 and when i got back the computer was in a continuous boot sequence (starts to boot, then after about 4 seconds shuts down and then over and over again). I reset the power from the back and turned it back on and it started up but with a different boot screen (Dynamic Energy Saver Quad6 Screen lol) and not the "black" one that normally comes up. It happened again last night and I think it happens when I leave my computer logged on in Windows 7. The weird thing was that after I reset the power from the socket (which stopped the loop) and turned it back on, it had me still logged on as a user and everything was like it was before I had left (basically like hibernate, except that hibernate is disabled on my computer
I have a friends PC, a gateway P4 2.6, winxp home. The mouse and keyboard up and died. He had a kvm switch, the electronic kind when it stopped functioning. I have tried usb, ps2 everything. The keyboard works on bootup, so I can get into bios etc... but when it gets to the windows screen, nothing. No mouse or keyboard. Safe mode is the same thing. Dont want to format and reinstall windows. On that note, I did try a repair, when it asks for admin password it wont accept it. Says invalid admin password.. The password IS windows admin password though. With no mouse even in safemode, and windows not accepting my admin password during repair,
I am trying to fix a friends computer my usual story. Once it gets to the user screen for user selection both keyboard and mouse stop working, its either they stop working or the computer freezes, i am not sure. Life still goes to the mouse as it still lights. The keyboad works fine in the bios but not at freezing point.
My computer is stuck on the boot screen, the mouse is lit up as to be working the keyboard flashed its lights as it always does when you boot but then everything seems to stop there. the screen is stuck on the boot screen the keyboard doesnt seem to work (lights are gone and wont come back on.) the lights on the back of the computer (the yellow and green ones) are all yellow but one. The C light is green. they are a steady color. Not blinking. A,B,D are all yellow.
I am experiencing a problem with the XP hibernation. The PC is resuming from hibernation with mouse and keyboard activity instead with the power baton. Almost like a standby mode.
I own a Dell Dimension 8400 system. I recently tried to download the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility for the chipset from the Dell support website. As the installation of the software was completing, the computer froze and I turned it off. Now, when I reboot, the mouse and the keyboard aren't recognized after Windows XP loads. The mouse and keyboard do work before Windows XP loads.
I am working on a friend's PC and have encountered a problem related to the mouse and Keyboard being inoperative in Windows. The machine is a Dell E-310 with 3.0Ghz processor, 512 Meg RAM, XP Home and USB Keyboard and mouse. The machine boots into Windows and reaches the login screen OK. However, the Mouse and Keyboard are completely inoperative leaving the system stuck at the login screen. The Keyboard works fine when the machine is booted into the BIOS setup menu. I also booted the machine using a Knoppix CD and both the Keyboard and Mouse work perfectly in Knoppix. This seems to rule out any hardware issues and points to Windows as the culprit. Dell did not provide a CD with the Windows installation disk so I am kind of stuck on the problem at this point. The machine is past its Dell warranty date.
A buddy of mine is having problems with his PC. He said when he turns it on it seems to boot up fine (lights on case work) but his screen, mouse and keyboard are not working. Now Im assuming that all those burning out at the same time is next to impossible. I think it might have to do with the PC itself. I have yet to try a different screen and such just to make sure. Also if infact trying another screen fails i obviously will not be able to look in his bios, which leaves me kinda stumped.
When my cpu spikes my mouse movements get jerky esp when hard disk is going then it can move around a bit by itself. Keyboard also have a delay between typing and the letters appearing on the screen.
I got a new graphics card today. So I went to Add/Remove programs, and removed the Nvidia driver. I rebooted the PC as requested. After rebooting PC (keeping the same graphics card in) the black Windows logo screen took much longer than usual. Then when it finished so that I could click on my profile, I couldn't, the mouse nor the keyboard are functioning. I tried a different mouse and keyboard. I unplugged my computer and restarted, I tried in safe mode and the same thing. The keyboard works at the BIOS screen because I can get into the BIOS and select safemode as needed.
my computers mouse frooze up and then i noticed the keyboard as well, and when i went to go in on safemode to scan for viruses it only came up with a tracking cookie.. now the computer is still freezing up and i reformatted the computer and after it was done it frooze as soon as the windows restarted...any ideas on what is going on?
My mouse and keyboard functions freezes within an hour of startup. I have a biostar u8668 pro motherboard, intel p4 1.7ghz, 512 ddr ram, cd and dvd writers and two hard drives. I am running windows xp pro with all the service packs and upgrades. I even flashed the bios with no apparent improvement. On immediate rebooting all is well for about the same time before it freezes again. What am I overlooking?
I am having issues with my keyboard and mouse(hence the title). My keyboard works fine while in the bios and while booting, but once the Windows Bar stops going from side to side and I start to see my desktop load, the screen is in 640x480 resolution or something (like safe mode) and I can't use my keyboard or my mouse, even though the lights on both are lit(so they have power). Earlier, I was having problems with my hal.dll (long story, but I ended replacing it from my MCE OEM CD in the recovery console((which I have in my MBR Boot menu)), and now I am here). I think that that might be the contributing issue here, but I have no clue what to do next. The same thing happens when I enter safe mode. I would just boot from my XP DVD and do a repair, but DELL gave me a DVD-ROM OEM disk with my XPS 600 even though the only drive I can boot from is my CD-RW DRIVE as far as I know. I have checked my boot order in my bios. I can boot from USB or Onboard or Removable Hard drives and Cd Drives.
I have recently installed anti-virus on my other computer. I turned it off last night and this morning I turned it on to find the mouse and KB don't work. I noticed the optical light is on until the windows loading screen shows up and then it immediately shuts off. I have looked in the bios everything is enabled, I tried to boot into safe mode and that doesn't work either, as soon as windows starts loading the mouse shuts off. I tried repairing windows and when it reboots to re-install, the mouse light goes off again. Later, an error pops up looking for a file iaStor.sys, which i cannot locate because my mouse does not work.
After hibernation, cannot resume from ps2 keyboard or mouse. Resumes OK by momentarily pressing power button. Intel MOBD D915GAVL, WXP OS. No options in BIOS.
so we just installed SP3 for XP. At first the boot was failing, made some hardware changes and all was good seemingly... now the keyboard and mouse no longer work, but they work when the computer just starts up. They just stop working shortly after. I plugged in a USB mouse and that works, so I was thinking it may be a problem with the PS/2 ports.
My PC seems to be working fine, running along. I went up close and checked if anything was fryed/unplugged yet no problems. My PC can turn on, but my monitor, keyboard AND mouse doesn't work
System infoV2 : PREMIER, XP Home Edition, P4, 2.6Ghz, 448mb.Did a complete virus and spyware clean and system runs fine now while removing some stuff from ADD/REMOVE I MAY have remove a driver or two by mistake , now my system powers nicely but i do not have use of my keyboard or mouse.Booting in safe mode just wont go anywhere so what next
i am running hp pavillion t550 with penthium 4, 512 ram, 80gigs hd. i have scanned it with pestparol and microsoft antispyware, scanned it with norton av many times and came out clean. done the error nuker too. i got about 70 percent space on my hard disc and at most times just using 260 on my ram.my pc just freezes up , randomly. it could happen after 15 mins. after loading or within 3 hrs. the cursor stays in one spot. no reaction from the mouse and keyboard.
Yet another "fix" for this problem. Many fixes out there, none of them worked for me. Found out what my fix was, undoing another tweak! If you have an undersized cpu(Duron 800) for running Geforce4 like me, it might do the trick for you too. Right click on "My Computer" and choose Properties. Choose Advanced, choose Settings under Performance. Choose Advanced again. There, change back to Programs incase you have it set for Background services and Systemcache.
i have a question that has risen out of pure laziness: does anyone know how in the world i can set up my PC to power up using any press of the keyboard or movement of the mouse?i know it's possible, but i haven't been able to figure it out. i'd rather use my keyboard/mouse as opposed to bending down and pressing the power button every time.
I can map the right mouse click onto a keyboard button? I know that on the desktop i can use shift+F10 as an alternative but I want to map it for better gaming such as alt+D. Also the shiftF10 only work on the desktop.
i am trying to do a repair install for windows XP.I have a message come up that says VIAAGP1.sys is required please type in the path and click ok.This is good and i know where the file is but My keyboard and mouse do not work so i cannot click or type in the box.the keyboard and mouse are ps2 and works in the BIOS but as soon as windows starts they stop responding.i cannot progress with the repair install with this problem.I have tried putting the driver disc in but the message still pops up.
both my keyboard and my mouse freeze all the time! It happens at constant intervals (about 3 seconds) they freeze for maybe a tenth of a second. But its long enough to get my mouse stuck, or mispel word?
I am trying to install and new keybpard and mouse (Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000) I follow everything in the book, install the software and everything but they both dont work
Trying to fix a relatives Dell Dimension 5100 c2005. Can only get to the welcome screen then keyboard and mouse wont work; both are usb of course as this Dell has no PS2 ports. I have loaded another copy of xp home and can boot into it ok and see the other installation ok too. From within this second copy of xp have run chkdsk and also have run chkdsk from (2nd XP Home CD) recovery consul.
I had a bug that deleted the mouse and keyboard drivers when it executed. I restarted the computer but cannot use the mouse of keyboard at all. therefore cannot use the computer. i have tried using the 6 disk setup for xp sp1 but when i select 1 for the drive it stops. i also cannot boot from the xp cd. i can however access the cd-rom using a boot floppy. but i do not know the actual names of the drives i am trying to reinstall.
