"Microsoft Feeds Synchronization" Error Message Prevents Activation?

Aug 6, 2009

Windows XP would not boot in my wife's old computer off of her hard drive so I booted it off of my installation disk. I then instructed it to repair the windows already installed. When prompted I entered her key and it appeared to be completing the installation. I am presently trying to activate windows XP on my wife's computer by clicking Start > All Programs > Activate Windows but the activation window does not open and shortly there after I get the error message:"Microsoft Feeds Synchronization has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience" presumably preventing Windows XP activation. Even entering "oobe/msoobe /a" in the Run window does not launch the activation window which I once again presume is blocked by the error message.

Licensing - Call Microsoft For Activation?

Aug 13, 2008

I recently did an install of Windows XP pro on a few boxes. The key I used is supposed to be a volume license key. As far as I know, volume keys require no activation. However, upon booting up the machines it does in fact require activation. Am I missing something here? Should I just call Microsoft and have them activate them?

HP Laptop With Stuck In Reboot Cycle / Error Encountered That Prevents Setup From Continuing

Jan 12, 2009

A friend of mine gave me an HP Pavilion ze4400. It had Windows XP installed on it when he gave it to me. I moved out of the area and forgot to take the XP CD with me. I was having problems with picking up wireless networks using my USB wireless adapter. Uninstalling and reinstalling the program for the adapter didn't fix anything, in fact, it made it worse. So I thought I would try using an XP CD to correct the problems that way. I had no idea that XP CDs weren't all the same.I put the CD that I had for my IBM laptop in the HP and it started to install. After about 10 minutes or so, I got a "Fatal Error":"An error has been encountered that prevents Setup from continuing. One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. The operation was canceled by the user.Press OK to view the Setup log file"The Systel Setup Log:"Error:The signature for Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade is invalid. Apparently our PC's now have duplicates of each others MY Documents' on the others PC. I do not want my wife's documents on my PC and I don't want mine on hers. How do I turn off MS Folder Synchronization ? I recently ungraded to Microsoft Office 2007 and I see this MS Office Groove. Is this the program that is doing this?

Time Sync Problem - Status Of The Last Synchronization

Mar 10, 2008

this has been an issue on my laptop for awhile and I guess only now am I getting around to figuring it out.Whenever I try to auto sync the time on my computer, no matter which server I choose from the drop down bar, it gives me An error occurred getting the status of the last synchronization. The RPC server is unavailable.
This is a home computer, and has been an issue connecting from several places on several networks. I tried turning the firewall off but that didn't do it.
I read up a little on various forums about this problem, and from what I could pick out that I could understand (I'd say I'm somewhere between Beginner and Intermediately computer savvy) there have been issues with Windows Time in the Services menu. I went into there to check that out (it was my first time in the Services menu) and lo and behold, no Windows Time on the list. Several other Windows XXXXX, but no Windows Time.?

Message Telling Microsoft Not Genuine / Valid

Aug 9, 2009

Last week I had to use my laptop. When I got to windows it had a message telling me that windows was not Genuine. I did a check and Microsoft said it was not valid. Given the fact that at the time I did not know it was hacked or could have been, I just closed it and began back on my desktop which is my main computer. This also is a wireless network. Tonight I did a reboot and the same thing happened with my desktop. I again went to microsoft and again the told me the key was invalid for this part of the country whatever that means. This desktop was bought at a computer show a couple years ago and has been dam good to me. It is a Dell. I don't know what to do. Someone told me about a keyfinder but I don't want to do anything until someome advises me....

Partition Commander Prevents Boot Sequence

May 20, 2006

I have Windows 2000 Pro running. I have two 120 GB HDs. One is C, the other is D and E.
I tried to install Partition Commander. I decided that I did not want to install it, so I exited the program. Then I went to remove software and indicated that i wanted to remove it. It accomplished all OK.

Now, when I restart from a power off, the black and white boot sequence stops and asks if I want to boot from master boot 0, 1, 2 or 3. I indicate 0, and it boots OK. How do I get rid of this problem? My computer used to boot from off to my Windows desktop, nonstop.
I was trying to change partition sizes but decided to keep what I have.

Blue Screen Error/Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER?

Jan 8, 2007

Man, my computer for the last two weeks have been crashing like an emo. I mean, when I play GTA: San Adreas, in 20 minutes, I get a BSOD with a stop error. When I put hardware acceleration to full, in a half an hour, I get a BSOD with a similar error. Believe me, I got three kinds of errors, and some were from different time. I believe the problem either came from the either the PSU, new 512 mb of ram, old 512, CPU, system board, or the graphic card. I'll try to post the error as best as I can. So, is there a solution to this?
Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078) This is one of them, but there another one with KMODE that I can't seem to remember. Also, sometimes, after it tries to recover from a serious error, the computer shuts down during the bootup before I can choose which XP version I can choose.
Also, I hate to say this, but I'm not using a legit windows copy sp1, but I have updated to sp2.

Error Message Blue Screen With C000021a Fatal System Error Logon Process

Nov 22, 2008

i had XP 2008 virus/spyware, which I think I managed to get rid of with Malwarebytes' Anti Malware and System Mechanic 7. Now I have a new problem. I can't get anywhere into Windows, I've done F2, F8, F12, everything I could think of without risking more damage. I've booted from the system mechanic CD with the Hard Drive recovery, and while it said it found and fixed a problem, it didn't fix this one.

Microsoft Error Reporter?

Apr 19, 2006

I was advised to use this site from another Sims Fan. I am very new at this so don't expect me to know anything.
When The Sims 2 first came out I brought the game (my system meets all the specs) after a few days the game started to crash. I contacted EA Games for help and was told to update drivers, reinstall the Game and turn off all anti-virus and firewall software to play the game. I did so.
But still the game kept crashing. I then was told by EA Games to install a new patch to the game. I tried and the patch came up with an error every time it got to the file packageinstaller.exe. I then tried the Sims 2 community and got serveral completely different things to try, some more useful than others. After a long time of trying to get help, I was told to reformate my hard drive. Which with aid I did. But still the game kept crashing. And to add to this now my computer crashes for no reason and when I do send error reports to microsoft I get messages back saying corrupt error messages can be caused by faulty RAM. So I used a test which is supposed to find any faults or errors on the RAM and I set it to do the longest one so it did a complete check, but no errors are found.
These recent errors have happen when I was doing nothing simalar to the other crashes (like random errors). I've had programs freeze up, computer not responding, blue screens, application errors, restarting, screen going black for a few seconds and microsoft error reporter seems to come up every time I turn on the computer.
I am thinking that they might be something seriously wrong with this computer and I really don't what to be told that I have to pay out thousands to get it fix.

"counterfeit Vs. Genuine Microsoft Product" Message?

Sep 27, 2006

Two of them are now coming up with messages saying that my OS (Win2000 pro) is 'NOT GENUINE." I get these messages constantly. I checked their FAQ's and all of it, and there is no solution for me other than spending $149, which I will not do. Their FAQ's do not address the issue of someone using a donated computer and I can't get the messages to stop; it's not like I can uncheck them in startup or anything. I tried System Restore but it won't allow me to do that any more.
