Limited Accounts On Same Machine

Sep 28, 2007

In a school environment students must use a "limited account" under windows xp. There may be as many as 15 different "limited accounts" on the same machine (# of students). Each student has his/her own account. In the admin account bluetooth works the way it should. I cannot get bluetooth to work in these limited accounts. Is there a way to "share" the bluetooth properties/settings with all of these limited accounts?

Cant Make The Accounts Limited

Dec 8, 2006

I'm basically the admin for a couple of computers my moms has at her business.I've installed log me in so i can log in remotely. Someone in her business keeps uninstalling them from all the computers. I cant make the accounts limited because the programs they use has to run with admin privileges. Is there a way to:1. Remove the accounts ability to install/uninstall programs.2. Remove the accounts ability to access the notification area in the task bar to kill background programs.3. Remove the accounts ability to access the task manager.

Accounts Set As Limited - Background

Sep 12, 2007

I am running Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2. Recently I downloaded a registry cleaner off the net. Everything seemed to be going well until one of my children tried to log into their account and Windows hung up. We get the welcome screen and then finally their background, but that's it. No menu bar, icons, nothing. I have their accounts set as "limited", but as soon as I gave them administrator rights, they worked fine.

Limited User Accounts - Block Certain Actions

Sep 17, 2007

I need a program to block certain actions on limited user accounts. I am the administrator on my computer, however my mom and sister use the computer as well. They have limited user accounts. My sister and my mom have accidentally screwed up some settings before, and deleted files and such, there better then they used to be, but i don't want to take any chances. I am looking for a program of some kind to block certain actions, such as right click properties on the start menu tool bar, etc. i have made there accounts have classic folders, i have hidden the my computer icon from the desktop and start menu so that they only see "my documents." however, because they have messed my system up before, i just want piece of mind and have a program block certain things that i select.

However I am having hard time finding the othertwo computers in the workgroup so I can grant them full access permsission. Admin Is Jammed Up Limited Accounts Work Fine

Jan 6, 2007

I have Windows XP and my administrator account is not working properly.Sound devices disappear, but it only happens on admin. user. If I switch user to a limited account, the sound device is there. Sometimes as my admin user is loading the screen goes black and the computer restarts. Sometimes the firewall has been turned off, or the virus scan is disabled. My internet explorer will not open. I created another user as an administrator and it does the same thing. But the limited accounts are all working fine. I have run a virus scan with MacAfee, and also run Xoft Spy and Spybot. I have an AMD Sempron Processor 2600+ and DSL internet connection. Someone told me it could have something to do with the auto updates. Please tell me if this sounds like a virus (that only attacks the admin user?!@!) or how I can fix this. There is no help and support on the start menu for a limited account.

Creating Limited User Accounts / Restrict To Access Downloading?

Jan 3, 2005

After my old lodger totally corrupted by pc with adult downloads and viruses, I have had to get it rebuilt. I now have a new lodger moving in, and she needs the pc for studying. I have set her a limited account up, but how do I restrict her from a) downloading and b) accessing my folders.I have tried the share /unshare, but when I log on her as her, I can still view my own folders. If I right click on one of my folders, and then go to properties/sharing, it does say 'to share this folder with other users on the computer' drag to shared documents - I have not done this, so thoughtit would not be shared. Where it says' To make this folder and its subfolders private so that only you can access, select the follwing box' - That box is greyed out, so I cannot do anything!

Internet Limited Only To AOL Browser

Jan 1, 2007

I currently only have Internet access through AOL on a broadband connection. For non-AOl Internet requests (simple example, when I install a program and try to register it - or even for when Media player 11 tries to go to the internet to get album info when I play CDs), how can I route my requests through AOL? Even with AOL sined on and the web working in the browser pane of AOL Openride, I can't get IE to work beyond the Sonicwall firewall though the AOL browser does (except, for instance, requets to view My eBay, for instance). I have Pc-Cillin security and Windows XP Media Center on a Dell Inspiron 1501 with AMD x2 CPU, 1GB RAM, 80Gb HDD, etc.I'm guessing the answer lies in RRAS or a third-party product. I can handle technical answers though the les outside references the better (time is hard to come by for everyone :)) Happy New Year to all!

Limited Or No Connectivity - Memory Sticks

Oct 31, 2008

My computer say "limited or no connectivity" when I startup my desktop PC. I have reset the cable modem. I have called my cable company and they tried to do a remote reboot of the cable modem. I have uninstalled software I recently installed in case of a conflict with applications. My cable company also walked me through doing ntsh, I think it is, in the run box to try to reset my connection. I have disabled and re-enabled my local area connection. I have run chkdsk and it "found one or more errors on the volume", which it repaired. All this and I still have no internet connection. I'm entering this from a remote terminal so I'll download HijackThis to my memory stick to run a scan. I'm also going to do the Network Diagnostics. If you have any suggestions in the meantime, feel free to suggest.

How To Fool Program Into Working For Limited Users In Pro

Aug 19, 2005

I recently installed a US Robotics 56K(V92) Faxmodem in my brother's computer after his old one was fried during a storm. After installing it and making sure the "modem-on-hold" feature worked right I then proceeded to test it in his children's limited user accounts to make sure they can get on the net also. Now, while his children were also able to log onto the net, the modem on hold program (which until now was quite impressive) will only work for users logged on as administrators.

This fact was verified by one of USR's support technicians who informed me that they had no immediate plans to change it so it would work in limited accounts. Now this is a problem because he and his children all spend a lot of time on the net, and until his name comes up on the broadband waiting list, a modem is all they have between them and the net......
