I shut off my firewall on my xp pro computer but when I look at the security centre, the green light is still on, indicating that the firewall is still on. This is a new computer that was set up before I got it and I know on my old one, the red light would be on when the firewall is turned off.

I just bought the adapter and the router separately recently.The problem is that I can't access the internet wirelessly. I get strong signal with green lights. But when I launch Internet Explorer, the light turns red immediately and signal drops way down. So, no internet.Then the signal comes back on strong again with green lights, and everytime I launch the Internet Explorer, the light turns red again. It is just like that, on and off (green to red and red to green), for many days now.If anybody had that problem before, please help me out with your solution. I have been reading so many posts and I am lost.

I have removed all fans and cleaned them, remove battery and replaced after 30 minutes, used a different battery, unplugged all cables. After trying each one, I plugged the computer in again and still activity light stays on. The moniter is black. When I turn it off and on it shows "no signal" on the screen. I also replaced the ram with two 2Gs. What do I do to stop whatever activity is going on?

It is "windows Antivirus Pro" 3 days ago.Now some of the files which I modifies after its attack turned into green in color and I am unable to open it. I am also unable to run any .exe files as well as any command from RUN like regedit or some thing else.I have downloaded "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" and scanned my HDD with the help of another system. Yet those files are GREEN in color and I cannot open it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got this inspiron 1100 off ebay it didn't come with a hard drive so I put the hard drive from my inspiron 9300 into it and when you turn it on the the power light is on and the hard drive light blinks once and stays off. The screen remains black and when i tried to hook it to a montior still nothing black screen. was wondering if i used the wrong kindof hard drive?or am I looking in the wrong direction.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust experienced a very strange situation. We have several hundred XP clients on an NT Domain. We disable windows firewall. Over the weekend we upgraded our NT 4 Domain to Windows 2003 Mixed Mode Active Directory. We are now seeing today and yesterday some machines have the windows firewall enabled. We discoverd the problem due to an older legacy application we have had stopped working. The application was working yesterday (2 days after the upgrade) but today it was not. The machines experiencing the problem are located in seperate office and seperate departments. so far we have seen only about 15 with the firewall enabled. As we just upgraded we dont have any GPO's in place that would enable this. We dont have any other automated
customization tools that were configured to do this either.Is there any log file or any way to determine when/by who the firewall was enabled. The users of the machines dont have admin rights so we know it was
not them.
In my Local Area Connection Properties, I turned off the Internet Connection Firewall, but I have symptoms of it being on, like, unable to host Warcraft 3 games, slow download speeds, etc etc, and even an error that say it is on while I'm patching World of Warcraft, is there a way to fix this?

For example, all the text I've typed in to label my photos is now all blue, it was black when I originally typed it. All the text I typed in under my document files had turned to blue as well. Then went to internet options and unticked the "tsl"option in Advanced tab,again no luck! Thus iam not able to manually download updates.The XP pro has SP2 and SP3 installed. All the drivers are in place.To add to my woes ,SAS PRO and MBAM are not getting updates too!To survive i have installed AVG 8 Anti-virus and it too is not getting updated! I went to microsoft's website and did the regedit and the command prompt commands, but it didn't work. I gave all user accounts (which is only one) full access in case it was a permission conflict. I used to be able to have a digital clock displayed as my screen-saver . I think it was a marquis option.
Sometimes I fall asleep in front of the computer and wake up in the middle of the night This can be a little disorienting and I am always fumbling for my cell phone and I can't even read the display because my eyes are all blurry.
Would be so nice if I could get that big green floating digital clock back, as my screen saver.
It would also help when I'm rushing around and trying to get out of the house (condo)
How do I change the colour of the green font circled in red? My OS is windows xp home sp2 and Im using the classic xp high contrast white theme. The green font is part of the theme and I cannot change it through properties>appearance>advanced because its not the 1st or 2nd font color.

A couple of days ago I developed a soft pink and green surround on the monitor screen, heavier at the screen edge and fading to nothing an inch or two from the edge, normal colors within this area. I have no problems playing games with my new FX 5200 Ultra video card by BFG, but I am at random times getting the annoying green screen that blanks out my videos I am streaming or playing(happens when I am streaming more often). Then after that happens usually, the computer reboots or shuts off. I never had this happen before.

View 14 Replies View Relatedthe last few times i turned on my computer in the morning it immediately shuts down, BUT, it will start normally after i wait an hour or 2 and just keep trying. sometines i can push the start button 10 times and it will start 10 times for 1 second and other times i get no response after the initial 1 second start. a led for the cat 5 input on the back of the computer stays lit when i go through this process. even though there is no response from the computer.
