"Error Loading OS" Msg On Boot Up
Dec 3, 2006
I have recently had to reinstall XP a couple of times and have deleted partitions/formatted the HDD in the process. All was working fine but now when I boot up I get the following message: "Boot from CD".. then immediately "Error loading OS"

My computer was running fine last night, but today when I tried turning it on, it came up with "Error Loading OS" on the boot up screen. It has never done this before, and it will only work now when I have the Windows XP disk in the CD Drive. I even tried unplugging everything and plugging it back in, but it still won't work.

My computer tries to boot, it takes a while to detect anything from the CD-ROM (my first boot priority), and then when it detects the IDE, it says "error loading operating system" and after that I can't do anything but restart or shut down. I am running Windows XP Professional and it will load with a boot disk, but if I take out the boot disk it won't load.

I have 2 computers (well more than that but for this i have 2) One works and one doesn't. I took the hard drive out of the working one and put it in the non working one as the master. (BTW on the non working one its just the hard drive that is working properly) I put the hard drive from the non working one as the slave so i can try and get some files off of it and format it. So I boot up the system and the computer recognizes it but then i get an " Error Loading Operating System" error.

I started receiving at startup the following error: "Data Execution Prevention - To help protect your computer windows as closed this program Name: Windows Explorer
Publisher: Microsoft Corp" I had gone to MyComputer, properties and put windows explorer in the exception list. And it loaded up ok after that. This morning it started giving the same error plus another one: "DrWatson Postmortem Debugger has encountered a poblem" and has closed. In addition to the above, I can't click or start anything. The screen looks like it's loaded up correctly but then I am not able to start or use any program.only option I can choose is to see the task manager. Now the screensaver has come on and moving the mouse doesn't take it back to the normal screen. I really am not sure what the problem is I am writing this post from another PC.

Ever since i bought the PC i had a trouble every now and then upon bootup, the xp loading bar would freeze. I would restart select the option to start in safe mood. Then would reboot and start normally. Happened maybe 4 or 5 times in the six months i have had the PC. However i turned it on today the same thing happened so i started in safe mood and still had the problem when i tried to reboot. Next step i went to msconfig and removed all non essential startup items. Then repeated the reboot step and still no luck. Since then i have tried to reboot a number of times. Now the next problem is my PC now freezes when i click safe mode.Anyone have any idea as to what can be done or what could be broken.

My friend told my about TinyXP (windows xp with a lot of crap left out = fast)
I don't know if I can give you the link where I got it because maybe that will be seen as advertising. But whatever, the problems I have don't have to do with the TinyXP specific I think, they are also occuring when isntalling a normal windows XP versionWhenever I boot from my cd, the setup is loading But after that, I get: the setup is starting and then BOOM, blue error screen:Quote :A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your
Computer

When trying to boot my computer it freezes.I have tried to boot into safe mode with no joy and then safe mode with command prompt. The last entry with command prompt is:multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWSSystem32DriversBTHidMgr.sysNow using the little I know about computers I am guessing that it is hanging whilst loading the driver BTHidMgr, what ever that may be and at a guess I either need to delete that driver or repair / replace it.... but.... thats about as far as I can guess.

After a visit to the wonderful land of pornography, my dell (about 5 years old) has decided that it doesn't want to boot past the loading screen. Just before this happened, I booted up and the screen froze on the desktop, flashing some distorted lines across the center of the screen. I have tried rebooting multiple times and running diagnostics, but nothing appeared wrong. I'm going to assume its virus related.

booting my cpu because it hangs at the loading screen. I have read a lot of posts but none of them help because I can't get the cpu in safe mode. I have tried all the options and all kinds of boot disks. It won't let me use my keyboard to highlight any of the options where it says windows had problems loading and gives several options like safe mode or last good config. The keyboard will let me into the bios but after that it won't work. f8 won't take me to safe mode and it won't boot to the cd either. I had this problem once a few weeks back but I created a boot disk and after I booted from that for several times it started booting on it's own. I got the boot disk from a web site but it wasn't an xp boot disk.(i think it was an 98se or me disk) Well of course now either I have lost the disk or it just won't work anymore. I need to find a way to at least boot it long enough to get the data off. the file system is ntfs and I am using windows xp pro.

My brother's computer froze so the only way i knew to turn it off was to uplug the power.. I did that and ever since then i cannot get the computer to boot up all the way it just gets stuck on the xp loading screen.. Ive tried starting in safe mode, normal mode, and "last know configuration that worked" mode.. When i boot from my boot disk i get into the window's console, i try and choose the repair option, when it lets me do this it asks for a "administrator password", i dont remeber using one when i installed windows. I know the "quick" fix is to do a complete reformat and install, but my brother has alot of work files that he does not want to loose. This is my brother's computer, i always make a backup disk of my files for this reason.. but he didnt so im stuck betweena rock and a hard place.

I was playing a game last night (a legit game) and it freezes, so I restart and get the whole "Sorry for the inconvenience windows shut down to protect files on your computer" screen and it asks me how i want to boot up XP, either in the safe modes or Last known good congifuration or start windows normally, so i use last known and the windows loading screen comes up and the blue bar is passing by normally, but it goes for a very long tiem and eventually freezes and I have to restart. It also does this whenever I choose any other way up booting XP too. I've taken my computer apart, cleaned it, unplugged everything and plugged everything back in, read justed the harddrive and NOTHIGN works. It still gives me the frozen windows loading screen. Is there ANYTHING I can do to solve this problem short from hooking my hard drive up to another computer and seeing what's wrong from there?

I went away at the weekend, came back on Monday and the PC wouldn't boot. It gets to the point of the loading bar / splash screen and then just stops, the PC then has to be turned off or reset. It will boot into safe mode and seems relitively responsive, there are no signs of any spware of viruses and the last windows update was done in November.

My friend has a XP Home OS. When he fires up his computer, that sucker wont boot past the little loading bar. It just stays there indefinently. I had him boot off the 6 XP boot discs and run "FIXBOOT" to re-write the boot sector, still nothing. We booted up off the XP-CD and ran the setup so we could run the repair (R), files loaded and the computer restarted. Still nothing happened. The files that remain on his computer are so fragile that doing a fresh install of his OS would be a disaster. Any thoughts as to restoring the computer?

My son recently used our computer one evening and logged off without a hitch. The very next day, when I went to use it, all I got was the WindowsXP splash screen indicating that the system was loading. However, that's as far as the operating system would go. I can only use the computer in Safe mode. I have all the backup & resource CDs. Is there anything I can do besides a full restore. What do I do first? This is a WindowsXP Pro MCE2005 operating system.

I used a program to delete hidden files from loading up on boot. Two were casino files that I had already deleted. I unchecked the boxes to prevent them from loading up. I then became creative and kept going. Apparently I uncchecked a file to load up win xp pro. Now I get the blank screen that says "invalid boot diskette, insert boot diskette in A:" I do but it is not reading the A: drive. I then tried to get into setup to change the boot sequence to cdrom first but the blank screen asks me to enter a password. I never needed a password to get into setup before. When I type my system passwore and hit enter all that appears is an X, after three times it kicks me back to the insert boot diskette page.

What I mean is: Microsoft Flight Sim X comes out in a few weeks and I was wondering if there is a way to easily boot up without all unnecessary programs loading, to free up memory for the game itself. And I was hoping this could be set up to be done easily when I wanted to. is there a program maybe that I could download that would do this?

I have created another link regarding this issue, however this problem is now on my second computer.
http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vi...load-blue.html.I just connected my iPod Nano (3rd Generation) to my second computer to charge up and then it completey shut down and now shows the error:Error loading OS <windows root>system32hal.dll Please reinstall a copy of the above file.I have tried to repair the required, but it wont even read or load my XP Pro installation disk to repair it.This is extremely frustrating, as I am now thinking that my iPod has a virus in it and has transferred it from my laptop through to my other PC~!

Received this message, Error Loading Operating System, when installing Windows xp pro? After loading the installation files from the CD, windows xp shuts down and reboots to continue loading a fresh install of Windows from the installation files onto the HD.Instead of loading the installation files an error message hangs the installation and reads Error Loading Operating System. The installation files are loaded, but Windows xp won't load up? Looked around the forums and searchs and no one had a definitive answer to solving this issue of Error Loading Operating System.
