I am getting a lot of e-mails with attachments that require an "Open with" window. Trouble is, I don't know what to choose and even doubt that I have the correct program to open it.
My ethernet input has recently been broken thanks to my Mrs, so I got an ethernet adapter which connects into the USB.Now I cant remember if I started to experience problems before or after the install...However I have experienced no end of problems recently... I cant download a file and then open it in any of the Office apps, as soon as I do, it tells me 'Notepad/Word' etc has encountered a problem and needs to close. On top of this, I cant run Firefox and if I try to click on links in my email within IE, the same thing happens.I have AVG and Malwarebytes and have ran them both and they havent picked up on anything.
I use Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP3 with Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 SP3.
It has been my experience that, out of the dozen or so Junk e-mails that I receive every day in my Outlook Inbox on my computer, there are usually one or two that are actually not Junk at all, and those I have to identify as "Add Sender to Safe Sender's List" and re-route to my Inbox. It is for this reason that it is very important that all my e-mails are downloaded from the server to my computer - including the ones identified by the software as "Junk" - because the software obviously is not perfect.
A few weeks ago I noticed that I was not receiving my usual quantity of about a dozen Junk e-mails per day. I did not think too much about it at the time, because, although some days I did not receive any Junk e-mails at all, other days I might receive one or even two
My father has an HP SP2 computer. He is 76 now and can not figure alot of things out now. He asked me last night how to save pictures in emails. I told him to right click and save as whatever he wanted to call it. Well when he goes to My Pictures, there it is but there is nothing underneath it describing what it is. He has to put his cursor over it in order to find out what it is. Mine is not like that at all. It has the file name underneath it. What am I telling him to do wrong?
many emails received are in text form - have to go to bar above msg. and tell it to post in HTML format - but then most of the links that appear will not activate when I click on them! this is in XP, Outlook 2003
I have AVG and now I cannot receive emails unless I do a hard reboot of the computer. I can get the initial emails, but once the AVG runs the email scan, it times out and says cannot find the server.I have to hard reboot again in order to receive the emails. I have tried everything my limited skills allow me.This is frustrating.I am running Outlook Express for my emails, through Comcast.
couldn't get on with vista - way too buggy installed xp - all going very well but now I can't read my emails is there a way to convert them into a format that xp can read?
In the last few weeks I have had many, many unwanted spam emails soliciting every things from soup to nuts. How can I eliminate the spam or at least minimize it.
I realise that this might not be the right group to be posting here but I am aware from past experience that this is where the most expertise in the widest field is. I have posted into the outlook group with no success so please help if you have any ideas.I have Windows XP with Outlook 2003. I have backed up my massive amount of emails (400MB) using Outlook Backup from Osirius This produces a .ebk file. Having used this program for smaller amounts of emails with no problems before I then placed the backup onto a disc and formatted thedrive. After loading XP and Outlook back on I then tried to restore my backup using the same program. But it runs through the restore procedure without any problems and when I open Outlook up again most of the emails are not there.
When I shut down my computer it installed a new version of Outlook Express and it no longer had my contacts or emails. I couldn't figure it out so I set back my computer to an earlier date and it was back to normal.Shut down my computer again and I have the new version of Outlook again with no address or emails. Any thoughts on what is going on and how I can get this fixed?
I was forced to re-install XP Home Edition yesterday due to a corrupt file that prevented boot up or a system restore from being run. Although I have been able to access a lot of my data, it seems that my emails have been lost. This is a really big deal as I'd used my mail as a filing system for various contacts and data etc. It's vital that I get it back. Does anyone know if the mails may be stored in an obscure folder somewhere at all? I should also mention that I do have a mirrored drive (which I removed during the reinstall to ensure that it wouldn't be effected in any way) but I have been unable to find the mails on here either.
how i can prevent the little cutsies' of animations that are embedded in some emails i receive from 'moving i would assume they just add 'download' time from my server into O.E. i know how to get to 'advanced' tab within I.E. but don't know 'what' to check or uncheck or if this is even an Explorer situation or O.E. setting. i tried but couldn't make any headway. i hate to ask the sender not to include them but i don't want to hurt feelings either but that's a whole other 'advice' column.
Why do I have a big break in dates of emails listed or displayed. I go from July 13th to the next being June 11th. Is there anyway I can display all posted emails from this date back to say the last 300 emails posted sequentially? I tried unsubscribing and then resubscribing, but still have the same problem.
I have attempted to post two threads to you today. I wonder how much chance this one has of getting through? My problem is that emails have been disappearing at an alarming rate over the last two days. I spent over an hour writing to make a very serious complaint to a major company, saved it to draft and minutes later it had disappeared. Only the heading was left as a draft email.
I recently manually moved my email files to a different folder. When I opened Outlook Express all of my emails were GONE. I then moved them back and it did not bring them back. The files are in my documents, I have tried to import them back into Outlook Express and it does not work, it only goes back to 2 months ago. I need to know how to recover my emails back into Outlook Express.
excuse my ignorance but is Outlook Express part of:
a) the operating system (in this case windows xp) b) microsoft office c) something else
I'm trying to set up a new computer for a charity, just one problem they did not back up their email addresses and emails on outlook express from their last machine (which failed) so what do we do to restore everything? just wondered if anyone knew WHERE on the hard drive does outlook express store its emails and email addresses?
He goes into his INBOX and reads his emails. He does not delete the emails he has read and then he signs off. When he goes back into OE the read emails are now in his DELETED folder. I have checked the settings and cannot seem to find anything that he may have selected in error and cannot stop this from happening?
I have recently upgraded to Windows XP, am running Explorer 6, and my email goes thru Outlook Express. Since my upgrade, whenever I send an email to multiple recipients, each recipient gets multiple emails to the numer I sent out. e.g. If I send an email to 10 people in the "to" box, each person gets 10 identical emails.
Sound working fine on new computer, but now deafening silence! Have checked volumes on control panel but all seem fine. Have flat screen monitor with integrated speakers. Have teenagers who deny changing/doing anything to it, but not convinced. No sounds on windows media, aol welcome, email alerts etc.
I'm still having trouble deleting email addresses when i forward emails mainly in the form of jokes , i use Monzilla Thunderbird on XP , i have tried deleting but it still ends ups showing all the email addresses > When i used Outlet Express i did not have this problem.
I use Outlook Express for emails, and since switching on today, I`ve been receiving the same email over and over again.I believe that this soundsl like I have a virus, and I`ve tried to run a virus-scan, but after 3 or 4 minutes, the virus-scan programme is shutting down as well. ( I use "Blueyonder PC Guard" for my virus scanner)Do you think that it`s a virus, or could it be something else ?
I have Win XP SP2 SMTP server running with Outlook Express and it is working well, except that I have looked at the log file and I suspect that other things are sending emails from my machine. I have up-to-date Zone Alarm firewall and XP firewall turned off.I have 3 email accounts that I use to send emails from my OE all xxx@mydomain.com .Is there any way to configure it and limit it to only allow emails sent from xxx@mydomain.com ? It is possible that these addresses (mta106.mail.cnb.yahoo.com etc) are emails I have sent to valid yahoo email address I suppose, (I dont know the address of the yahoo SMTP server at the other end) but I would feel happier if I could configure it to only allow emails being sent from mydomain.com.My ISP allocates different IP addresses to me every time I login so I cannot restrict it by IP address.
I have a Windows Installer splash screen that pops up upon a reboot and which flickers thereafter. It doesn't install anything, and I can't kill it by canceling it while it appears. It blocks incoming emails, (they hang up at 50% downloading) although sometimes when I reboot the problem doesn't start again for an hour or so. It's sporadic, but it never goes completely away. I thought I had found the solution on this thread here: , but installing the downloads didn't solve the problem. I have no idea what Windows Installer is trying to install. To make things more interesting, Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel only shows very recent software. And System Restore fails for anything more than about a week ago, when the problem first manifested itself. I've purchased and downloaded RegCure, Fix-it Utilities 8 Professional, and CounterSpy. Ive run AdAware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Spyware Blaster. While my registry is clean, no malware found, and my computer is running faster, all these were of no help in getting rid of this popup.
When I reboot, which I often have to do out of the Windows Task Manager because the popup is flickering too fast to do it out of the Start Menu, I usually get an error message saying that ccApp can't be closed. It reboots anyway, and sometimes I get back into a reasonably manageable system, and sometimes I don't.It don't know if the problem is related to Norton 360, but the Icon in the systray blinks when the installer is really going ballistic. I would try to uninstall and reinstall Norton, but it's not listed in my Add/Remove Programs list anymore, along with most of my other programs.
I have OE 6. When I delete an email, it then goes to a subfile which I need to go to in order to permanently delete the email. Is there any way to perm. delete multiple emails rather than one by one with the yes/no box checking if you want to perm. delete?
I am on Windows XP and have the Explorer 6.0. When I am on the internet, my cursor is selective as to where it will allow me to type. For instance I can type here just fine in both the Subject line and the message body. However when I am using email, Yahoo or Juno, I can type in the address and subject lines but it will not let me type in the message body.
I am running Windows XP; just reinstalled Windows and all was well until I allowed downloads of Windows updates.Installed a batch of updates and now whenever I type an email message or anything else on the screen (except this...seems fine here); I get lags of about 5 seconds. I type and nothing happens, then the text snaps into place a few seconds later. Sometimes the screen refreshes. No error messages...but the change has been the update of Windows. Wonder if that has installed something that has caused my problem. Clicking seems to be problematic as well with lags.
My Windows 98 basically crashed and i have now loaded XP onto one drive and my info from 98 is on another drive ( c/d ) I have gotten access to all my files, documents ect....however I have not been able to get into my outlook express old file which contains 1000,s of emails that I desparatley need.
