Unable To Find Drivers For Dell Dimension 5150?
Oct 9, 2010I have a Dell Dimension 5150, i've just done a re-install of XP as I was sick of it playing up - something was wrong but I couldn't figure it out. Anyway, Now I can't get anything to work cause I have no drivers, I mainly need the ethernet driver. Dell's website has NOTHING on it, there is only 1 download for this machine and it is for some stupid dell application. No drivers. I've looked all over the net

Nov 20, 2008Let me go through what has happened and what I have done. My machine begun having BSOD just as it started to boot up saying that a device was unmountable. I run the util and run chkdsk to no joy. For the last five hours I have been tediously trying to reinstall XP, which you'd think would be a straightforward task, wrong!!!!! The motherboard only has one IDE so am unable to connect another hard drive before I tell you the problems I've had with the SATA. Trying to install XP home (have tried several different disks and SP's and also pro), requires no additional drivers and the setup runs well or so you think, it does the format, starts the copying of the setup files, but when it has to restart the computer this where it runs into problems. I get the following message 'Floppy Diskette Seek Failure', firstly there is no floppy disk installed in this system, secondly the BIOS is not set to boot to it, and even when I explicitly put only boot to SATA Drive it still displays this message which obviously means the XP installation can go no further.

Lose Sound - Restart Dell Dimension 4700
Mar 7, 2009I am having a problem with my Dell Dimension 4700. I had to format my hard drive and reinstall windows XP Pro. I then went to the dell website and reinstalled all the drivers listed under my computers service tag.Now whenever the computer is restarted or if I run certain programs like Windows media player or quick time I have to delete and reinstall the sound driver through device manager. I can normally regain sound without having to restart my computer. But when I try to use a program my computer does not like then I loose sound again. This is very aggravating.

Feb 12, 2010I have a Dell Dimension 2400 1.6ghz 1gb RAM with XP Pro on it for several years now. It has many programs installed on it. I purchased a faster used Dell Dimension 8400 3.6ghz hyperthreading 3gb RAM with XP Pro on it.My question is simple. My Dimension 2400 has an IDE hard drive and the 8400 has SATA. Rather than spend days re-installing and tweaking all of the programs on the 8400 I tried the following. I used Acronis Easy Migrate 7 to Image the IDE hard drive to the SATA hard drive and installed it into the 8400. It would not boot, I tried a repair install, then while booting I get a blue screen stop Error 0x0000007B. What do I have to do to fix this so it will boot?

Sep 25, 2005I often but not always get an error message when working online. I am not sure whether it is a dell problem or my internet service provider. I have dial up. A small box pops up in my face and it says . . . windows must now shut down because the RPC service terminated. System shutdown initiated by NT/AUTHORITY then it counts down 60 sec and shuts off my computer. I have no control when it does this, i cannot X it out or make it stop. Very annoying. Sometimes it goes for hours and does not do anything, sometimes it will do it 3 times in 30 min. I have scanned for virus' and it comes up clear.

Memory For Dell Dimension 2400v - At Least 512 Mb
Feb 20, 2005I am looking to upgrade the memory on my Dell Dimension 2400 to at least 512 mb. I have heard that you have to purchase a specific kind of ram (dell certified?) and that it won't just use any kind of brand. Is this true? If so, can someone point me in the right direction.I know that it must be DDR PC2700/333 but I'm unclear as to which brand to buy.I spoke with Dell and hung up unclear (she spoke very poor english) so really got nowhere.

Dell Dimension 8200 Won't Boot
Apr 21, 2005I have a Dell Dimension 8200 desktop running WinXP Home however It won't boot to the hard drive. I replaced the drive with a known working one and it still doesn't boot, says Diskette Drive 0 Not Found, however I figured that was referring to the floppy drive. Tried switching the ide cables around and that didn't work either. The power supply is working, as well as all of the fans. Its running a 1700mh processor. Cd-Rom works fine, and I can boot to a CD, I can browse the files if I boot to Knoppix, however it simply won't boot to the Hard Drive. I ran FixMbR and FixBoot in the recovery console, to no avail. Bios is configured properly, and I haven't touched the jumpers. Just to be sure I tried the hard drive in another system, and it wouldn't boot in that one either. Might be the mother board?

Apr 18, 2007my computer Dell Dimension 2350 has been running at 100% cpu usage for a while now and it started occuring after the guy who came and installed the internet left. I ran tons of spyware, adware, and virus programs and came up with nothing, i wiped the computer clean and ran a fresh install but the trouble presisted. when i'm in safe mode none of this happens, the speed is fine In process explorer it says that the DPCs and Interrupts are pretty much hogging all of the system's resources. I got Driver Genius to update all of my drivers and now i see the only one that doesnt even have a driver and is saying there is an error for is my ethernet controller. It tells me that there is no driver installed for it yet it's still working. I'm not sure how i find what brand of controller i need the drivers too

The Dell screen comes on and then the white strip which should fill the box below "Dell" just seems to go halfway and hang. I then have to shut down manually and reboot pressing the F8 key and frequently have to do this(shutting down and restarting) several times before it actually gets going. Dell won't help me now as I am out of guarantee but it is really getting annoying and I keep thinking that one day it won't work at all!

May 15, 2010I am having a hard time with running a chkdsk/f I can not get to any other screen but that. I didnt not have a problem with this computer until the large battery went out on my surge protector and when I moved it to my husbands music room (because his computer got a virus) Upon start up it gives the the options to start up normal, safe mode ect. Well I dont know what to do...I believe the f drive is my 3.5 disc drive it is dusty inside there and blew some out, that did not help and then I unplugged it, no help with that either. disc is very different as it wants to know what partition you want to put it on. There was no other choices.So I believe that we destroyed the restore partition without knowing it had one.If I buy a Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition OEM Version will it work to solve this problem? TigerDirect sells a copy. I need the full disc and not an upgrade. But will we have drivers problems. He does have other disc with his Dell which one says its for drivers but in reality its just disc of Docs. And one that does actually install the modem as he's still on dialup.Can I wipe his hard-drive clean and install an OEM version of Home Edition and will things work?A little out of pocket money is easier then suffering
through trying to get it done.
