Computer Start Rebooting?
Feb 8, 2008
I have installed alot of software, hardware, and networking stuff in my computer. Now I am having random rebooting. I checked the event logs and there are save dumps at the time of reboot as follows: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x100000d1 (0x00000008, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xba60891b).

Currently i am having an issue with the my PC where it is taking arrpox 8-10 minutes to boot from dead. Recycling / rebooting also takes the same time. PC takes around 8-10 minutes to boot, the XP logo screen comes and goes, hangs for around 2 minutes on a black DOS like screen, no commands etc present, then hangs on the desktop image for a few minutes, then get the Window media sound, a few minutes later explore.exe process starts bring up the tool bar. then a few more minutes, may be 5 waiting for it to start and become active.

I use XP Media Center, Avast AV, new computer, and I'm an intermediate user. Yesterday, after rebooting the desktop, start menu and taskbar began flashing with a system beep. What I mean by "flashing" is the taskbar and start button would go off, the system would beep, then they return and do it again and again. It is working right now but I'm lucky for that. I ran a virus scan and spyware scan and my system has been cleaned, defragged and a disk scan has been performed (no negative results). When I boot in Safe Mode, it's ok. I did the elimination process through MSConfig and when the services are stopped, the problem is not apparent. Turn them on, and it's there again. Here is my Hijack report below......

Starting yesterday my comp has begun to restart for no particular reason. Sometimes I can be on for a while, other times I can barely do a thing before it reboots. I first noticed it when I went to an Amazon page. I thought nothing of it, but upon going back to that same page it happened again. I assumed their must have been some bug in the page causing that, however unlikely that seemed. But soon after the computer was restarting seemingly at random. And for some odd reason if I click on my Ad Aware desktop icon this will also prompt the comp to restart. I'm stumped. I'm hoping it's just some virus I managed to pick up, and not a problem with the hard drive.

Programs closing out on their own or just hanging up.
Below are two logs you might need to help me. I've tried a system restore but it does not have any dates prior to Feb 4th which is also odd because it's always been on. I've run Spybot and Ad-Aware and AVG with no luck.

I am having some problems with my brother's computer, which used to be a emachine w888 and lucky for us had never had problems with it till the motherboard before it recently was fried! So my mom and I decided to upgrade his entire computer and the only part that is actually part of the WHOLE emachine is the hard drive put into the new tower. So we got in the new barebone system and the mobo in it is a K7MNF-64 with an AMD XP Thoruoghbred 2800+ *even though the reciept says different for our motherboard*. Anyways the computer is running Win XP Home SP2 and whatever is on our emachine restore CD. Well we turned it on and the computer automatically tells us to select the computer to start normally or boot in safemode with or without netowrking. Well any selction we choose after the computer just reboots.

I don't have an easy way of backing up all the data, as I can't move and copy files, and the largest USB key/SD card I have right now is 512MB. I can't directly move files, the way I've found to work around this problem is to put all the files I want in a zip file and then extract it into the location I want.
So she doesn't want to format if possible, and I would really like to know what caused this problem, although it seems like 1 problem that spawned into many, as if someone took control of the computer and started disabling things. Any ideas would very much be appreciated

My Computer keeps rebooting. It does this several times a day. It started about 2 weeks ago. When it reboots it says the computer has recovered from a serious error, and a few click here links, leading me to a .dmp and a .xls file. It doesn't matter what I am doing.
Sometimes I'll click a desktop icon .reboot. Then click a link from my email pop client.reboot. Or maybe I click a link in my browser.reboot. it's not one thing that I do, when it decides to reboot. I unchecked the auto restart button, and got this blue screen.
I have not added any new Hardware or software. I formatted and re installed new Windows XP Pro Sp2 3 days ago, hoping it was software virus related NOPE Is something wrong with my usb ports? The CPU fan is working goot and the temps are good, do it's not over heating.

my computer has been running abnormally slow, and I don't mean 5-10 seconds for a program to load, more minutes. Once, it took, from turning the computer on, to arriving on desktop a total of 12 minutes, that was without half the stuff even loading by then!
The slow speed usually occurs when rebooting, I left my computer on for serveral days and eventually it worked good as ever.
I'm not sure if it matters, but soon before loading the desktop, there's a weird grinding type noise coming from the computer, this lasts for about 5-6 seconds, and happens several times.

I do document conversions. I work with MS Word files anywhere from 6MB to 23MB in size. If I reboot the computer and start a processing task I get no hangs. However, the longer I work on a task like a "find and replace", the slower the computer's processing gets and then I run out of virtual memory. When run out of virtual memory, I can no longer save the file.
Is there a way to reset or empty out the memory of my computer system without rebooting the system? I can copy and paste a small amount of text like a comma, but that does not help the memory problem. Edited to correct spelling error.

My computer randomly crashes and also reboots on it's own a few times a week, but I'm sure this isn't normal.I'm running Windows XP.There's no pattern when these problems occur. I could be surfing the web, playing a game or my computer would sit and idle for a little bit... then it'll reboot. This started happening a few weeks ago, but figured I could live with it. Unfortunately, it's gotten on my last nerve and I really wanna know why it does these things and how I can fix the problems.

Im new, so bear with me please. The problem is on my old Sony Viao Model PCG-6H4L XP. I wanted to start fresh and the recovery system for windows gives me only a limited number of dates. I thought that the Viao recovery would do the job.I was wrong. I haven't checked recent forums about problems with this, so I went ahead and broke my laptop. Before the Recovery system starts, my laptop says, with a black background.

I got XP PRO sp2 a few weeks ago and microsoft has downloaded their automatic (hot fix) updates about 20-25 times. The last download failed and the the message read that I would have trouble booting XP because of that failure. Well, they were right because now Xp will not boot up-- it just keeps rebooting.
To try to correct this I have tried to use my XP CD to repair it but it asks for a password from an administrator-- that's not me
I have tried F5 to get into safe mode, safe mode command prompt, last known good configuration..., and debugging mode and nothing works.

I start up my computer and then after a few minutes later, my computer screen goes black and automatically reboots on itself. After reboots it somehow hangs on me before getting into the login page of xp accounts.

This has been going on for a couple of months now.The PC would just reboot all of a sudden, usually when we pop in a CD in the drive, or log on to another user account. When we try to turn the PC on, it takes about 5-10 reboots before it goes on to the Windows logo (or whatever you call that). I'm worried that it might be a virus. I tried Trend Micro's Online scan and left it for a while only to find that the PC reboot in the middle of it, and now, I can't get the scanner to work anymore (I keep getting this error message.) Also, to be honest, we usually leave the PC on for days on end, so overheating might not be so out of the question. Aside from overheating, I just wanna know what else we have to troubleshoot for regarding this problem? Is it possible that a virus is causing it? That's all, I just need a troubleshooting checklist.

The problem is it will not boot. It only shows the first screen where it tells you the type of processor and bios chips, it gives the cpu type, then I guess it tests the RAM, the cache sram, then system bios shadowed, then video bios shadowed, then it states the hard drive, then cd drive and the last thing on the screen is " mouse initialized" then it just keeps restarting over and over. If I try to go into safe mode, it does give me all the options, however when I choose safe mode, it just goes into that same screen since it is the begining of the boot and it keeps restarting again. He is running windows xp, I tried to do a repair install but I guess I have a different version of win xp and it doesnt give me the option to repair.

I just installed an Audigy 2 ZS and everything works fine until I reboot; at which time my computer goes mute. There is nothing muted in the Volume Control applet, the Device Manager shows no conflicts, and onboard sound has been disabled. I'll post an abbreviated DXDIAG (this is with sound operational, if matters.Uninstalling the card, rebooting and, after letting windows detect the new hardware, reinstalling the driver, will correct the problem. Until I reboot again, at which time the computer is again, mute.

last week, my computer froze and my dad unplugged the power cord since he was the one using and now the xp keeps rebooting. it does not matter if i choose, safe mode, last known config, it keeps rebooting. it goes as far as letting you see the xp welcome screen, then for a second, you can see the bsod and it reboots. i have dual boot fedora/xp, both os in one hard drive. i replaced the original mobo about 3 months ago and now fedora does not work either. last night i downloaded pclinuxos live cd and booted off that cd and i can see all my files in the xp partition. so i thought it would be a simple, boot off the xp cd, select install xp, then select repair existing partition, but now after i select "install xp", the c partition shows up empty, as if there were no files in it. this is odd because when i restart, and select to boot windows normally it goes as far as the xp welcome screen, so obviously, xp is there. i also think there is something wrong with the mbr since i cant no longer see the grub dual boot selection screen. any help that you can provide is appreciated. this box is used in a small business and i would like to avoid having to reinstall. my specs, intel p4 2.8 lga 775, 1gb dual ram pc2 4300, intel mobo,

I recently aquired a Toshiba M35X-349, I don't know the history of this laptop. I put a hard drive in it and loaded OS system from recover disc. The problem is that after I instaled OS the computer will boot all the way to showing desktop, then it will reboot after about 60 seconds. It does this over and over. I did manage to reflash bios with version 2.0. I can start it up in safe mode with networking and the thing runs fine, no rebooting. Ive tried re-installing recovery disc and tried just installing windows only and get the same results, I even tried another known good hard drive.

My computer keeps rebooting in normal mode, but I can log on in "Safe Mode". Whats weird is that I put a disk in my CD, Windows says device is working properly - but won't read the disk. Same thing happens with the floppy. Usually, when my computer booted before this problem occured, it went though normal boot sequence and I could see the light check for CD, and floppy...now it's not doing it. I can read hard drives in "safe mode", but CD, Floppy, and sound will not work?

I have a friend who has Windows 2000.Unfortunately, he has told me that his computer is in a consistent rebooting loop when he tries to start his machine. The only thing he had done before this stopped working was installing necessary updates as provided by Windows Update.
