My computer locked up during an installation upgrade and when i try to revert back to windows 2000 i changed the bios settings, then i have the following error: Resource Conflict-PCI mass Storage Controller Bus: 00, Device 10, Function: 00 After wards it says to press delete/Esc to continue and it says the operating system is not found.
I have a laptop that runs Windows XP. Recently I opened it and an error message that says that the computer is locked and only the administrator can log on appeared. But, I'm the administrator of the computer! It is not apart of any network so no one else was using it.The keyboard is also locked so I can't type anything.
Just upgraded a Presario 5441 to 20Gb and am unable to install XP onto it. I installed and formatted the Hard Disk and it is set to cable select. Each time I try it comes up with the error code: IRQ not less or equal, XXX Stop: 0x0000000A0xFFBE000,0XOOOOOOO2,0X807D4AD4. I have also increased the ram by 256mb, I have 2 pc's running ATA hardware and am wondering if I could install the IDE disc onto one of these to install that way.
Decided to update my XP installation with the XP2 upgrade. Everything was sailing smoothly until the upgrade halted with an "Access Denied" message. Luckily it deinstalled and reloaded the original XP1 installation successfully - I don't see any problems! If I look at the current setupapi.log, I see several pages of #E197 errors towards the end of the update (the description says, "Writing "C:WINDOWSINF etwzc.inf" to "C:WINDOWSINF" is not an approved method of installing INF files. Use a 'CopyINF' entry instead". Then I see the following:
#-007 Deleting registry key HKCR.AudioCD #E033 Error 5: Access is denied. #E065 Parsing DelReg section [Product.Del.Reg] in "c:windowssoftwaredistributiondownload16b2c96a0c41f4dfdb4d3cc228a4f819 updateupdate.inf" failed. Error 5: Access is denied...............
When I was attempting to modify the booting process on my newly acquired computer to be an uninterrupted process rather than having to select a user icon midway, I managed to somehow alter the booting process so that now it stops shortly after beginning to show a page with a message that reads as follows:"The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name and domain are correct, then type in your password again".
This morning I attempted to do a complete reinstall of XP by booting from the CD. The screen currently says It has been on this screen for about 20 minutes now.I decided to do a reinstall because the system had unexpectedly begun freezing up.
I am the owner and administrator on my laptop, today it won't load YIM nor will it allow me any administrator rights-run and open programs,I don't know the admin password-never had to use it to run a program
I am running xp sp2 the cpu usage is 100 % and pc locks up for about half an hour after boot up the the cpu usage drops to normal. I found sdfix on this site and ran it here is the report i got
Lately my PC has become infected with a number of viruses. It started with a fake Secuirty tool called 'XP Secuirty Tool'. Using Hitman Pro 3.5 and Spybot I thought I got rid of it until a few days ago when more started to appear on my PC, with Hitman picking them up and removing them. The last one I that appeared I think was XP Defender and caused my PC to lock. After restarting and running Malwarebytes Anti-maleware it discovered 47 infections which it cleared to finish the removal of the infected files/folders I was asked to restart my PC.
how do you enable xp to show the window Computer Locked when you lock the computer-my Computer always displays the window where you need to enter username password. It does not show the closed window Computer locked-how to enable it?
For the past few days, I have had my xp lock up showing the classic logon popup window; within every 5 mins or so.It is driving me crazy! It is NOT my screen saver settings, as I do not use that, and have checked to be sure it is NOT ON.It is more like someone is hitting the win logo key + L every 5 mins or so. Only difference is that if "I" hit the win logo key + L ,it will lock my system up and bring me to my "welcome" logon screen. This is happening much the same way, except the "classic" logon popup window comes up when my system locks; I have not changed my logon from the "welcome" screen, and I am NOT hitting the win logo + L keys. I have had to remove my logon password so I can just hit the enter button to get back to what I was doing each time this happens.Every 5 mins I am idle, so I can't sit here to read without this happening, or view any videos either. I have to be physically keyboarding to not have this occurr.I have searched all over to figure out how to disable it, but to no avail.
I did a normal shutdown and when I rebooted, I am locked out of my computer. The message is "your account has been disabled, see your system administrator". Is there any way to get back in?
i just took my old hard drive out of my old computer and put in my new comp, but the user profile i was using in old HD is now locked and windows says i have no access to this folder? How can i gain acess to all my files out of this folder now through my new xp?
I recently got a new PC and stuck my old hard drive in. I can now open all my files except the ones under Documents and Settings. Access is denied comes up when i try to do anything with them. I tried the windows help, and it told me to go to the Security tab under options and take ownership, but there is no Security tab. What do I do? (Running XP Media Center, Old hard drive is set to D:)
I have a fairly new machine with linux (Slackware 10.0) and XP installed. From time to time when running XP it locks up and stops responding, and I have to power cycle it. This does not happen when running Slackware, and I run the same programs (more or less). I need it to work with XP because some of the programs I run are Windows only. How do you trouble shoot a locking up issue? Because it locks, there are no event log entries, and no indication at all as to what is causing.
I accidently ereased or deleted all logon or (user) accounts on my computer before I logged off and when I turned on the computer on again and I cant logon to my computer. Does anyone have any idea and or help how I can get into my computer and created a new admin acount so I can logon?

The past week or two it seems that the computer locks up, the Task Manager shows the CPU running at 100%. It allows some activity all be it slow & shutting down all programs (which are not locked up) does not stop the activity - including disconnecting the internet. Have run Norton scan, Spybot S&D and Adaware with nothing of significance found. Ran HiJackThis and found some startup stuff and stopped them from running but I don't know enough about the programs that are running to remove them.
Last time I booted I had to force a shutdown after waiting for 15 minutes. Next reboot took 22 minutes for the CPU to back off of 100%. I started Task Mgr very early into the boot, just before the icons started to appear and it showed 33 processes running. I watched as 14 more started up all while the CPU was steady at 100% usage. Then at 5 minutes after booting the processor dropped to 50% bounced around for a minute then went back to 100%. There was some activity through the modem (cable) but not very much. I unplugged the modem power. I shut down Skype, MSN Messenger and MS Defender and about a minute later the CPU dropped to 27%. Nothing of what I shut down appeared to alter anything.
I hope someone can see something...
Here is my latest HiJackThis log

I recently went to upgrade my computer and it keeps failing when it comes to the following updates:These are all windows media player related (going by the update description) and i tried reinstalling the media player with no joy.My system is Lenovo T60centrino duo 1.83 GHz504MB RamWindows XP with service pack 3. Any info would be great. The updates installed fine on my other computers so I'm not sure what the problems are. I have searched the web and not found a similar situation anywhere...
I have the following computer that I would like to upgrade so that my grandkids can play their games on it.Is this setup upgradeable to play today games? Would it make sense money wise? What upgrades do you suggest?
I am having some problems with my brother's computer, which used to be a emachine w888 and lucky for us had never had problems with it till the motherboard before it recently was fried! So my mom and I decided to upgrade his entire computer and the only part that is actually part of the WHOLE emachine is the hard drive put into the new tower. So we got in the new barebone system and the mobo in it is a K7MNF-64 with an AMD XP Thoruoghbred 2800+ *even though the reciept says different for our motherboard*. Anyways the computer is running Win XP Home SP2 and whatever is on our emachine restore CD. Well we turned it on and the computer automatically tells us to select the computer to start normally or boot in safemode with or without netowrking. Well any selction we choose after the computer just reboots.
Recently the computer crashed, and i couldnt start it normally. i used windows ME. after turning the computer on, it went to a blank screen and gave me an option to do something. i tried many things and in the end just installed windows xp to override the problem. that worked, however i have lost all my files. is there some way to get them back? this has happened to a friend and i do know there is some way to recover some files. does someone?
I upgrade HP computer to new Dell computer. I put HP's hard disk to Dell computer. The system is keeping reboot. I put back to HP computer, then the hard disk is working fine. How can I fix the problem? Dell is Pentium 4 2.8GHz with Intel System Chipset HP is Pentium 3 500MHz with Intel System Chipset too. The OS is Windows XP Pro with SP2
I recently learned that I can not use the upgrade copy of XP Pro that I own and used to upgrade from XP Home on my Dell Notebook computer.Dell is sending me a full version of XP Pro so I can format and load it.I registered the Upgrade version of XP Pro with Microsoft. How do I unregister the copy so I can give it to my Brother since I not longer need it and he currently has XP Home and an HP notebook?
earlier today I was installing Perfect Disk and right at the end of the installation, my computer restarted. After that each time Windows started up it would only get as far as the "Loading Personal Settings" part and it would restart again before I even get a chance to see my desktop.Figuring it was something to do with the failed installation of Perfect-disk, I entered Windows in safe mode (Without any restarts) and I disabled the loading of anything related to Perfect Disk. This didn't fix the problem and I tried disabling every single program on start up and that didn't fix anything either.I've attached the dump files from the Mini dump folder if that helps with the problem.
It looks I lost my booklet with the instalation code for my computer system. I bought my HP Pavilion a1012x 2 years ago. I created emergency, recovery dvd as instructed at that time. It looks I missplaced the code for the installation of it(can't find it anywhere). I wanted to clean my hard disc due to the fact that my comp has become very slow. I think reinstallation of the system would be the best solution as I tried for virus search, registry reparation, creating new recovery points, removing some programs but all without result. Is there any chance and way to recover my installation code from my computer now in order to reinstall my operating system from my emergency dvd? My OS is Windows XP HE, SP2, with all updates(76477-OEM-0011903-00106
I bought all required computer parts and I'm assembling these together to build my brand new desktop system. I assembled all the parts and I'm trying to install the XP Home OS. Every time I try to do this, my system is behaving strangely. After the partitioning and formatting is completed, it threw an error saying C drive is corrupted. I restarted my system and started installing OS again. This time also I went thru' paritioning and formatting and it didn't complain the previous error. Now it failed while doing the setup saying it couldn't copy so and so file. I repeated the process again and now it complained it couldn't copy some other file. I tried this 5 to 6 times and each time, it complained a new different file that it couldn't copy and one of those I remember is appender.exe. Sometimes, it's not even recognizing the hard drive. It's saying that couldn't find hard drive on my system. I went thru' BIOS settings and everything looks cool.
