We had a problem with windows not letting us do e-sign on a particular program.Tried fixing it and tech support for the program said it was a windows issue and I needed to repair windows which I did.Now I cannot get on internet explorer version 7.It will not let me reach the internet.I can ping gateway, dns server and yahoo.com but I cannot navigate there on the internet.I have checked and the firewall is off.
After long periods of my internet connection being idle (2+ hours usually), all programs requiring internet access are unable to connect. By idle I mean I leave to run some errands with no programs other than Zone Alarm running. My DSL modem still has all lights flashing and active. There are a couple other scenarios where this occurs as well. Ex. I'm playing WoW for extended periods but not using the internet through any other program, then upon alt-tabbing no other applications are able to connect to the internet even though WoW is still connected and functioning. Rebooting the router/modem doesn't fix it, but rebooting the comp does.
I think that I have a virus which is stopping me from 1) Installing Norton Internet Security 2005 properly, and 2) Stopping me from accessing all anti-virus related sites, for example - www.symantec.com, ww.grisoft.com, www.pandasoftware.com, and when i tried to download AVG 6.0 from another site which was unrelated to antivirus, I found that I could access the site but the download failed.
C:WindowsTemporary Internet Filescontent.ie5, which i cannot seem to do. They say i should see a series of 4 or more random 8 character names like "ADOZMZS1", which again, I cannot figure this out. So if anyone could
do internet users get assigned a unique ip address everytime you connect to the internet? and what is the difference between a ip address and a mac address? different types of a networks?
computer Spec:XP Home, SP3, kaspersky Internet Security 2009I have a weird problem back in September I had XP home installed with all the latest windows and software updated. Then I realize that something was cutting my internet in half I would always do a speed test with cable speakeasy.net and it would always show my down over 17000kbps Up 2049kbps I have comcast Cable. but now my speed EVER go over 4000kbps my upload is always good 2000kbps but my down is horrible, whenever I search a site I always get a 6 second pause then it gos straight to it and my PC also took a little drop in speed as well and i've use every problem that I know is fine to use " spybot, adware personal, Kaspersky, microtrend online, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, CounterSpy, norton online, ccleaner, windows defender, I forgot the rest but nothing worked. So I decided to go back to Vista home install all my usual programs
computer in my possession crashed, and when i reset, my internet has gone wonky. I use MSN as my ISP, and before, i could access internet explorer, or firefox, or any program without ever actually having to sign in to MSN. after the crash, however, i now have to sign in to access internet explorer, firefox, and a couple programs. what angers me, however, is that i DONT have to sign in to access trillian. Limewire, also, will connect, but wont download anything without msn being logged in. How do i get back to how it was? And no, system restore did not work.
I read that in TOOLS--->Internet options--->Advance, there's a setting that I can make the pulldown manu not be truncated. I can't find it for the life of me.
I have a number of XP computers (all SP2) connected to the Net via a wireless modem/router. Everything was fine until a few days ago when my connection speed dramatically slowed after being online for a few hours. This happens to all of the PCs in my home - so it's nothing internal to my PC. I tried to transfer a large file across the wireless network and it transferred fine (5Mb in 10 seconds). I can also connect to the router's web management software without problem. So it's not the wireless connection. Which leaves either my modem/router or my broadband connection. The router's "DSL" light is always on which infers that my broadband connection is OK. So that leaves my modem/router.
My users are unable to access the internet via Internet Explorer 7.With Firefox and changes in the proxy it works good, however, unable to access with Internet Explorer.
I'm thinking maybe the user's profile has problem. However, after deleting the user's profile and have her logged in to create a new profile, it still would not work.
How come it works with Firefox but not with Internet Explorer?
My son in law's XP computer connects to internet with IE only. It will not allow site signons or logins. It will not update anti virus (free AVG) or connect with Firefox or Netscape. The firewall is not blocking. I checked all admin service permissions and can't find any problems. I also tried Winsock Fix. I'm stumped on this and don't know what to do next
i us msn as home page but started recieving this message, Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site http://uk.msn.com/. Operation aborted, however other pages load ok, i am running xp home, how can i cure this?
When I want to access the internet I click the "E" symbol on my desktop, the problem that I get is that I keep getting a getting that pops up in stead of going directly to the MSN page.I keep getting ( Privacy violation 408HTA Warning ) getting that keeps opening up and I can't get it off my computer It is an advertisement to buy some sort of spyware software.
A friend of mine installed the Mozilla browser and I didnt like it so I uninstalled it. Anyways to make a long story short..Since then,In the address bar (ie icon), and all my internet links (internet shortcuts) show as an unassigned file type now. So for instance if I drag an http link from my browser to my desktop...it does not show as an ie link anymore (just a random file type). So when I right click my internet links and say "open with" internet explorer it works. However...when I select the check box "always open with this program" it will not change all of my internet shortcuts appear with the "IE" icon like it should
I am on a cable modem running W2K pro sp2 on a Dell 4400. My cable modem checks out OK as well as my ethernet card. There are no viruses or spyware in the computer as I checked that today. I've been thru level 2 tech support with my ISP and they are saying that the problem lies within the computer. When I open my browser I get the error msg page cannot be displayed and I cannot access any web page

I installed a parental control program for Internet Explorer, but it was not allowing AOL to dial any numbers. Also, after shutting down the AOL, Windows XP would shut down the parental control program saying that it was malfunctioning. So I decided to delete the parental control program from my hard drive, and I used the uninstall program of the parental control program to uninstall it. After the uninstall, I noticed that I could dial and use the AOL browser as usual, but I could not use Internet Explorer. Any web pages that I tried to visit using IE would not display, and Internet Explorer would say, This page cannot be displayed.
All of a sudden, I can't get online. I use MSN and when I click on the icon to access the internet, I get a message "MSN detects no internet connection--We could not detect an internet connection" I've checked all internet and network files/connections. All is fine. I have Verizon DSL, they checked out the puter and said it was a Dell problem.

I turned off my computer and everything worked fine. I turned it on today and when I open my Internet Explorer I get the message "Page cannot be displayed" My Netscape browser works fine. I called Comcast they ran all the diagnosis from their end and said something got corrupted in Internet Explorer. They said it could be a win-sock problemI am running Windows XP, Internet Explorer v.6.0.2800.1106 and using Service pack 1.The only thing I can think to do is uninstall my Internet Explorer, download a new version from Microsoft, and install it.I thought a would ask for a second opinion before I before I tried anything.
Sometime ago, I screwed up my OS and reinstalled XP Pro. But it seems I can't log on to the Internet[all my network cards have been installed].When I go to the connectivity tab under Internet settings I can't add a network service.I went to Services to manually start Remote Access Connection Manager but it won't start and a message is displayed: Error 126; The specified module cannot be found.
When i type any thing in my search bar(Google for example)and then hit return for it to look up i get this message. The requested look up key was not found in any active activation context.I cannot get on the net at all,I have a good signal but keep getting this message?
I have 4 computers on a LAN using Level One Homeplug adapters and USR MAXg ADSL Gateway router all set to automatic configuration and operating Windows XP Home edition, all were working just fine. All of a sudden two of them developed limited or not connectivity (yellow triangle) and could not access the internet. After using the repair function in the LAN status, one of them was repaired and is now OK. I could not get the other one back to normal for a long time and trying many different settings (manual configuration would not work either) so I re-formatted the drive and re-installed Windows. Now I do have a connection and the IP address is DHCP assigned I have done a ping test with the gateway and everything looks fine, but I just cannot access the internet. I get the message website found, waiting for a reply but the screen just stays blank until unable to access internet page comes up.
On device manager page, I get a yellow triangle under network controller but this only appears when I have a USR wireless modem installed which is not being used and is normally disabled. When the wireless card is removed from the motherboard there is no network controller and associated yellow triangle. After following some of the advice seen on this forum I did a ping test with yahoo.com and it was OK and then a test with address 216.109.118.71 (not sure if this test would be relevant in my situation) and that one failed.
When I start a browser page with an applet on it, my computer shuts down.I get this message river_IRQL_NOT LESS OR EQUAL.Then at the end it says NDIS.SYS - Address F988EAES base at F9872000.I also noticed that on my DSL the Ethernet light goes of during this process and comes back on numerous times before the system crashes. Also, the mouse freezes. On one occasion it did not crash and then I could not use the internet as it would not establish a connection.
