We had a problem with windows not letting us do e-sign on a particular program.Tried fixing it and tech support for the program said it was a windows issue and I needed to repair windows which I did.Now I cannot get on internet explorer version 7.It will not let me reach the internet.I can ping gateway, dns server and yahoo.com but I cannot navigate there on the internet.I have checked and the firewall is off.

After long periods of my internet connection being idle (2+ hours usually), all programs requiring internet access are unable to connect. By idle I mean I leave to run some errands with no programs other than Zone Alarm running. My DSL modem still has all lights flashing and active. There are a couple other scenarios where this occurs as well. Ex. I'm playing WoW for extended periods but not using the internet through any other program, then upon alt-tabbing no other applications are able to connect to the internet even though WoW is still connected and functioning. Rebooting the router/modem doesn't fix it, but rebooting the comp does.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a number of XP computers (all SP2) connected to the Net via a wireless modem/router. Everything was fine until a few days ago when my connection speed dramatically slowed after being online for a few hours. This happens to all of the PCs in my home - so it's nothing internal to my PC. I tried to transfer a large file across the wireless network and it transferred fine (5Mb in 10 seconds). I can also connect to the router's web management software without problem. So it's not the wireless connection. Which leaves either my modem/router or my broadband connection. The router's "DSL" light is always on which infers that my broadband connection is OK. So that leaves my modem/router.
My users are unable to access the internet via Internet Explorer 7.With Firefox and changes in the proxy it works good, however, unable to access with Internet Explorer.
I'm thinking maybe the user's profile has problem.However, after deleting the user's profile and have her logged in to create a new profile, it still would not work.
How come it works with Firefox but not with Internet Explorer?

It will not update anti virus (free AVG) or connect with Firefox or Netscape. The firewall is not blocking. I checked all admin service permissions and can't find any problems. A friend of mine installed the Mozilla browser and I didnt like it so I uninstalled it. Anyways to make a long story short..Since then,In the address bar (ie icon), and all my internet links (internet shortcuts) show as an unassigned file type now. So for instance if I drag an http link from my browser to my desktop...it does not show as an ie link anymore (just a random file type). So when I right click my internet links and say "open with" internet explorer it works. However...when I select the check box "always open with this program" it will not change all of my internet shortcuts appear with the "IE" icon like it should

I turned it on today and when I open my Internet Explorer I get the message "Page cannot be displayed" My Netscape browser works fine. I called Comcast they ran all the diagnosis from their end and said something got corrupted in Internet Explorer. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 4 computers on a LAN using Level One Homeplug adapters and USR MAXg ADSL Gateway router all set to automatic configuration and operating Windows XP Home edition, all were working just fine. All of a sudden two of them developed limited or not connectivity (yellow triangle) and could not access the internet. After using the �repair function in the LAN status, one of them was repaired and is now OK. I could not get the other one back to normal for a long time and trying many different settings (manual configuration would not work either) so I re-formatted the drive and re-installed Windows. Now I do have a connection and the IP address is DHCP assigned I have done a ping test with the gateway and everything looks fine, but I just cannot access the internet. I get the message website found, waiting for a reply but the screen just stays blank until unable to access internet page comes up.
On device manager page, I get a yellow triangle under network controller but this only appears when I have a USR wireless modem installed which is not being used and is normally disabled. When the wireless card is removed from the motherboard there is no �network controller and associated yellow triangle. After following some of the advice seen on this forum I did a ping test with yahoo.com and it was OK and then a test with address 216.109.118.71 (not sure if this test would be relevant in my situation) and that one failed.
When I start a browser page with an applet on it, my computer shuts down.I get this message river_IRQL_NOT LESS OR EQUAL.Then at the end it says NDIS.SYS - Address F988EAES base at F9872000.I also noticed that on my DSL the Ethernet light goes of during this process and comes back on numerous times before the system crashes.Also, the mouse freezes.On one occasion it did not crash and then I could not use the internet as it would not establish a connection.
