View 3 Replies View Relatedi was looking for an alternative to the google desktop's sidebar when i came across this "ricks sidebar" from this rickentendo dude on wincert.com.I downloaded it and it worked fine untill i tried setting up the weather gadget then i got a popup from threatfire telling me it just quarantined the sidebar.exe which supposedly was infected with a "trojan.win32.packed",so i checked out the details and it showed "registry value delete disallowed" under the quarantined win32 trojan.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI think my computer has a worm. I've been using A2 and Ad-aware to try to clean it up, unsuccessfully. It says it found trojan horses and eliminated them but they're always back.
- My automatic updates are shut off, can't fix it.
- My service Pack 2 disappeared, along with the firewall.
- Sophos became disabled.
- My CD drive is only recognized periodically
I have Windows XP Home. Avg scanned my computer and found this. Trojan Horse Backdoor Iroffer.F. It did not quarantine, remove or move to virus vault.
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhile running a scan with ad-aware it seemed to trigger an alert from norton antivirus(i know) that a virus had been detected, the ad-aware scan came up clean as did a spybot scan but im still left with the virus which is a trojan horse called c:/windows/system32/test3adll, now im not exactly sure what the best course of action should be, would i be right in entering the file details in the search bar of the start menu, making a floppy of the file just in case its needed for some other purpose, switching off system restore while i delete it and immediately switching system restore back on, any advice/help in dealing with this problem will be much appreciated

I have windows xp, i have avg antivirus and have run the tests in pc pitstop and done a regular search thru windows for the Trojan-Dropper.VBS.Inor.cz but can't locate it on my pc. My IE browser freezes everytime i go to a particular site and yet when i ask if anyone else has trouble with that site only a very few people say yes. The solution they give me is to download Mozilla and use it for that site. That doesn't protect me from the trojan completely infecting me does it? Can anyone tell me how to delete this trojan?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have read all the posts I could find here about going to Win 7.So I know I need to have a clean install done. Will be taking comp to comp store, learned the hard way to stop doing things when I'm not sure what I am doing. My question is,since Win 7 will be 64 bit,can I install 4GB of ram instead of the 2GB that XP only supports, mobo says only use 2 GB,a GB in each slot but I'm hoping that is because of XP, the mobo is 64 bit capable, in that it supports both 32 bit and 64 bit.And should I get a new small HDD to have the XP moved to,or can all the files and folders from XP be transferred to Win 7?

All the EXE Icons look like the old MS Dos Icon's. I am currently scanning the machine but am most of the way through and no viruses have been found.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post so I'm likely to appear stupid. I'm of average computer competence but love the things. Short story is this:I have an accounting program in which I have data files for each year of my business. These have been successfully backed up for years on CD and now JumpDrive, and stored on the desktop with a shortcut for easy access.I downloaded and installed SP2. Now when trying to open a file, I get the message C:XXXXXXXXX is not a valid Win32 application. It always was before so what changed?I cannot back up my current files because that is the name I've always used. The computer doesn't recognize the name as valid so I have no security. An ancillary problem is that years ago, my adorable husband somehow associated my old data file to be opened with MusicMatch. (We don't even discuss this.) I managed a workaround so that I got the files to open with their program application even though I could never change the icon from MusciMatch. No harm no foul. No longer. Post SP2, the danged thing went back to opening MusicMatch, ignoring my old workaround. Messing with it for hours got it to where I'm now getting the invalid file messagel.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on a link which asks me to send an email, a small screen comes up headed New Messages. The From and To fields are already filled in correctly when it appears but when I type my message/request/whatever, along comes another screen headed Dial Up Connection and then Connect btinternet.com (my ISV.) My name again is correctly filled in with a space saying if I want to change this password what password? to enter it in space provided.
I have tried every known password which I have ever used and when I press to connect, another little screen pops up telling me that it is 'unable to establish connection.' how to get around this? I end up copying and pasting the original link into my btYahoo mail box and sending it that way. A tad long winded
