Is there a way to redirect the Microphone connected to my Local Machine to the Remote Server (WinXP/Windows Server 2003), when using Remote Desktop.Bcoz my application which requires Microphone will be running on the
terminal server (win server 2003) and all users will be accessing the application after logging into the terminal server using remote desktop. I know that I can redirect the sound from terminal server to the local machine. But will the users be able to use their microphones in their local machines?
I am using an xp machine for my server with mapped drives to the wwwroot on it. Several times, especially today, I will drop the mapped drive connection, and I am unable to remote desktop to the machine. When I switch my monitor over to the machine, the default screen saver is up.I have had to reboot the machine the last couple of times to get reconnected.
I'm converting a Vista machine (purchased new with Vista on it) to XP for a customer of ours because the USB-to-serial-adapter that they need doesn't work with Vista.I bought an OEM (full) version of XP and put the CD into the machine. When the "Welcome to Microsoft Windows XP" screen pops up the "Install Windows XP" option is greyed out and doesn't allow me to begin the installation of the OS. If I click on the greyed out "Install Windows XP" option the PC just beeps.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA long time ago I started looking into this because my mum has a PC with XP Home on and I am running XP Pro (both fully up to date), however I seem to recall reading that you couldn't remote into a XP Home machine, only into a XP Pro machine, is this correct? Ideally I would like to try and sort this out so I can sort out any problems with my mums PC if/when they arise without having to try and talk her through it on the phone which can be quite difficult at times.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am needing to work from home and want to use remote desktop to access my work computer. We are thinking about getting a new laptop which probably would come with XP Home. Do I need XP Professional on my home computer since that is what we have at work? What is the difference between Home and Professional? Also, it seems most of these computers come with Microsoft WORKS and I need the office suite. HOw compatible are Works documents? I have Works on my desktop at home now and when I try to open documents at work I am not able to. And finally, can I buy XP upgrade to upgrade from Windows ME on my current home desktop?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Remote Desktop on XP Home edition for nearly three months. I have been told that Remote Desktop on XP Home edition will expire after 90 days of use. Is this true and how do I tell how many days I have left? I use it to connect to work daily so I can't afford to wait until it expires (if indeed it does).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have three machines with different versions Windows (95, 98SE, and XP HE) all behind a hub, a switch, and a firewall. A few programs on my 98SE won't run on my XP. That means a trip down three floor levels (short levels of 6 -8 steps but I'm gettin' old).I ran across a piece of software that looks like it may be the answer I am concerned about downloading something from the net and later finding that it has tentacles that stretch beyond my little home network and now feed data outside my system.
Q1) Will this particular product allow my XP to use programs on my 98SE as though I were sitting at the 98SE?
Q2) Is there an increased security risk if this software were installed and
used?
I want to access my home computer via the internet when I work in my office. My home computer is behind a router. I enable the virtual server function of the router. How can I do next? I had installed the VNC/Netmeeting/Dameware in my computer. I knew the cable connection's static IP address and my home computer's virtual ip address.

Basically I have a comp running XP pro and I want to be able to work locally on one user account, with some kind of remote access server running on another XP user account so that the remote account and the local account can be used simultaniously. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking in using either using Remote Assitance and/or Desktop in a help desk support environment. For example, if a user calls in asking for assistance with a application, or if we are in need of troubleshooting the machine, we would like to initate a remote assistance request that takes the end user out of the equation so we don't need to walk them through how to send a email/file request.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two different computers both running Windows XP professional. I am trying to connect to one remotely using the Remote Desktop Connection. I am logged in to a machine via remote desktop and another user with admin rights logs in via remote desktop and logs me off because they assumed that I had forgotten to log off or whatever else. Is there any permission setting either in group policy or elsewhere that would prevent a user attempting to connect via remote desktop from logging off an already logged on user? The problem is that both users are and need to be Admins.
