My computer started being really slow and making a lot of noise so I turned it off but now it is not able to completely restart. Right now I'm using the IBM Rescue and Recovery browser so I can't do much besides check and see if I can get any possible help. I try to run Windows normally and it starts loading up then a blue window flashes and the computer restarts. I can't go to Safe Mode because it starts naming off a bunch of drivers then it just resets. I haven't done anything on BIOS because I'm afraid I'll just mess it up (all I really did was set it to default).
I have an older computer running XP, no new hardware. Today I was viewing a site when all of a sudden I got a request from my antivirus (norton) and made a big mistake by doing a one time authorization. Some Program for scaning your system for errors or something like that came up. Almost immediately after that a message from norton came up to close all programs and do a quick scan (not full scan) for problems. I did this and was then told to restart the computer. When the computer tries to restart I get a blue screen that says among other things, problem probably caused by file: Beep.SYS Page fault in nonpaged area Stop: 0x00000050 (0x81000078, 0x00000000, 0xF77802FF,0x00000002) . I can't get the computer to boot into safe mode, debugging mode, or last good configuration.
I have about 1 and half year old PC and i had electricity problems in whole house, and while the PC was turned on, the electricity gone. After it got back i boot up my PC and from nowhere right before windows loading screen (WELCOME) it gives just for a half second or less some weird blue screen...I can log on to windows everything works but just that screen a bit worries me that might something happened. I tried to go to Safe Mode but while im pressing F8 i just get to select what to boot LOL.I hope anyone will read this message and write an advice or oppinion or something what might happen and if it is possible some solution.
My problem is that XP starts to boot up, flashes a blue screen with white writing for a nanosecond, then goes back to the start. It will not accept choosing Run in Safe Mode. It is not possible to get into BIOS. I have two questions:1.Can I start the pc with a floppy boot disk?2.Is there anything I can do APART from restore XP, as I haven't backed up all my files.I do have Norton but was in the process of getting the latest update. I thought it was prob a virus. All symantec website says is Run AV software HOW if I can't boot up?
i have a compaq deskpro which runs on xp pro this morning, my mother started up the computer and realised it would get past the stage of the windows xp logo when the Xp logo appears, a few seconds later, a blue screen with an error flashes and reboots but i am unable to read what the blue screen says but the pc keeps rebooting and rebooting i have accessed the recovery console from the boot cd but am i able to fix the error using this or will i have to format the pc?
I am having trouble booting up my laptop. It goes to the "windows" screen the a blue screen flashes for just a second and the only thing I can read is "a problem has occured" because of the short duration the screen is up...there is a lot more words on there but I don't have time to read it all. Then it goes to the option screen to restart or start in safe mode...which is what I'm in at this time.
Sorry if this is a repeat. My Toshiba Satellite M45 running Win XP Home, SP2 is caught in a boot-up loop. It shows the Toshiba splash screen, the "Windows is starting up" screen, then flashes a blue screen with white characters (too fast for me to make out any detail), then the "Windows didn't startup properly" (I forget the precise wording) screen, with the choices of Safe Mode, etc. I've tried every option on the list, but it still fails, returning to the Boot Options screen. Mea Culpa: I haven't done a backup in quite some time, so I'm anxious about the data on the hard drive.
so every time i boot the computer i get that good ol' blue screen of death right where windows should open to my desktop.. instead it says "welcome" with the light blue background.. the screen goes black and then comes back with the blue screen.. the message on the screen says:
stop: 0x0000007a (0xe16dac70, 0xc0000185, 0xbf985c66, 0x20e18860) win32k.sys - address bf985c66 base at bf800000, datestamp 41107f7a
beginning dump of physical memory dumping physical memory to disk: and counts up to 100 then the computer restarts. i was able to get into safe mode to try a system restore but when the computer restarted it never finished the install (it actually gave me the confirmation that the restore was successful while i was doing a repair install later on) i have tried going through the windows install disc repair utility and doing a chkdsk /p and a chkdsk /r upon doing /r it froze at 53 percent and did not move (i left it for a good 4 hours the first time before restarting it.. and then over night the second time.. and both times it never passed 53 percent............
I am getting a blue screen when I start my computer and as well as the error message in the title I get the below:*** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xFEB74D0, 0xF7B11FC8, OxF7B11CC4
I'm using a friends laptop, and I was looking at a friends photos on myspace when randomly i got a blue screen from windows. It restarted the computer pretty quickly and i had very little time to read it. I think i saw error with file and dumping physical memory. It restarted fine, but I got this screen before with a computer that I had never used and it ended with the computer restarting and getting disk read error and not working at all, so Im very worried. All I have for info is the error report which I've attached an image of.
Whenever I try to run a game or put something on full screen I either get the blue screen or my computer restarts. I recently reinstalled windows and it's only been happening after I installed a few drivers and I have no idea what could have cause the problem. I've tried system restore but I get an error message saying that my system couldn't be restored.
Usually I use Linux (because its faster easier more secure and just better) but in the past week I have had to install Windows XP pro sp2 on a seperate hard disk for remote desktop connectivity with the Windows system at work.Installation wouldn't work for whatever reason, so I had to install win2000. I thought I would keep that on, but unfortunatly updates would not work at all. So I then relatively painlessly updated to XP and installed SP2. From there it was working, and everything about it worked (apart from in games I get odd white lines on textures, but thats probably for another thread).
I have been having a hellish time with our computer. When I start it it gives me the option of opening in safemode etc but regardless of my choice a blue screen comes on. It says. A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If thi is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer. Technical information: *** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x867670F0, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)
I can't do anything else. I hit the F8 key when it was starting up but I didn't know what to do after that.
I am running XP Pro and have been getting the bsod physical memory dump for some time. I have replaced all the memory in the machine, thinking that could be it, based on what I was told. Now, I get this almost every time I reboot. I have the event logger going so I will post what it says.I even took pictures of the screen when it happened just today. I would love to know what to do.Error code 100000c5, parameter1 0c2148bc, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 0000, parameter4 8054a832.
I was attempting to get the flash player to work and did all kind of things. But before I started, I created a restore point and exported the registry. The last thing I recall doing was a manual install of the latest flash player. Seems like it hung up and after a few minutes I turned off the PC by holding in on the power button. When I power up the PC it would get to the blue screen with the windows XP logo screen and then hang.Normally it took me to a screen showing the various users on the PC.I have rebooted in the safe mode and it gets to the same screen and hangs up.
I keep getting this blue screen of death whenever i need to restart my computer to complete installations and updates. For example, i installed the new Internet Explorer 7 and this error message came up. Also, when i installed a security update i also got the same Blue Screen error. Please try and identify the problem for me. A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you have seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.
My laptop will not boot into windows at all. not into safe mode, or any other option i'm given. It gets to the windows logo and crashes, a quick flash of a bluescreen which i can't see the error, and restarts. I also do not have the option to disable the restart so i can see this code too.I booted the windows recovery and at the DOS prompt i tried doing chckdsk, fixboot, fixmbr.
The PC will turn on and go through start up when it gets to the desktop it restarts. You can only see the desktop a split second. Then right before it restarts a blue screen flashes with alot of stuff typed on it but it doesn't stay on long enough to read it. There are very few times when the desktop does stay up. When this happens i get a error that says Missing C/Programs.
Hey guys, i got a serious problem, i booted from the windows xp disc and started the installation process, then the computer restarts after all he bios stuff happens it restarts again before the windows boot screen comes up and keeps repeating over and over again.
i have an emachines m5105 laptop. i just reinstalled windows xp professional on it, went through the whole process, everything was fine. i installed windows updates, all the emachines drivers, then aol messenger, a couple of simple programs, then adobe dreamweaver, reader, the google toolbar and microsoft office (in that order). by the time i was done, the laptop screen flashes to an almost black screen, on and off, constantly. i uninstalled office and dreamweaver, since that was not happening before i installed those programs, but i'm still having the same problem.
After turning on the screen there is a 'fuel rod' (press f8 ) then the screen flashes 3 or 4 times before the wallpaper comes up.Is it possible to avoid those flashes?

Encountered a Blue Screen of Death error. The error stated that I should run Chkdsk and then proceeds to restart and bring me to the Windows boot selection screen (safe mode, last known good configuration, normally). No matter which choice I pick, it always leads to the BSOD then restarts. Since this is getting me nowhere fast, I want to just format and reinstall windows. I do not have my recovery CDs, and when I enter the BIOS to change the boot sequence I cannot change it so the CD drive is above the hard drive in priority. The reason it gives me in the bios is that "All items on this menu cannot be modified in user mode. If any items require changes, please consult your system supervisor. Any ideas on how I can boot off the cd and reinstall windows from scratch?
i turn on my desktop computer and i log on and open up my usual programmes then after a while the screen flashes black and back to normal screen , couple flashes later it goes black and the green power button flashes i have to turn it off and on again for it to restart but the problem is still the same.
My computer wont turn off 1st time. The 1st time i press the 'turn off' button, the screen flashs, as if its getting ready to turn off, but then nothing happens. When i repeat the procedure again, it does turn off.
All of a sudden, in the last couple of days, I find that I have to go through my Start>Turn off Computer > Restart twice in order for the computer to restart. Unfortunately, I've made a LOT of changes in the past few days (new programs, a system restore, windows registry cleanup, startup configuration changes, etc.) so I have no idea what caused this.
I just put together a new system from scratch and regretting it BIG TIME, I have an intel d915GAG board with an intel P4 3.2 chip. Brand new WD HD, floppy, and 2 dvd/cd drives. After the final screw was tightened, I started my new system and the intel logo appeared. I pressed ESC and it appears to start the bios setup. It flashes my memory size (size is 512 MB), then the screen immediately flashes and begins to do and IDE scan, in which it promptly tells me that Device 0 not detected, device 1 not detected, device 2 not detected, device 3 not detected....and the setup stops right there. I don't have a clue, after searching Intel's site for 2 hours where to go from here.
my desktop pc is a Dell ptiplex GX110.XP-PRO,MB and 40gh.Whenever i press the power button for start up the power on indicator light at the front of my PC only flahes a yellow r orange color but never ghanges to solid green. The system never powers on fully.
Everytime I’m going online after a while my computer just restarts. The symptoms I noticed is that downloading of webpages becomes slower than usual before it restarts. Before it restarts a blue screen appears with some text in it but I couldn’t read it because it just flashes a split second. After my pc has restarted a box pops out saying –The system has recovered form a serious error. But it doesn’t state what kind of error it just ask if you want to send the info to Microsoft. I hope someone could help me here. What are the causes and what do I need to do? (by the way im connecting to the net thru a modem, dial –up)
