View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Windows XP Pro and powertoys allows me to set auto-login for my administrator account. It's a single user system and it's convenient not to have to enter a password each time I fire up. If I hibernate, however, instead of shutdown then the auto-login doesn't work and I'm forced to the login window. Any way around this?

View 6 Replies View Relatedso every time I log in to windows xp pro the system starts to load the user settings background and startup programs then I get a message that the system can't load one of the startup programs because the system is shutting down. then the system completely shuts off. After an exhaustive search online I found the recovery/copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe fix and tried that but I still get the auto logoff. I've tried repairing the installation using the OEM CD, but that only works for the first login. after that, same issue. I've run antivirus and spyware apps to check the system, but found nothing (I did this inbetween repairs). After 6 times of going through this I'm ready to reinstall from scratch. It just annoys me that windows can break so easily. Did I meniton I hate windows? Anything you could suggest, would be appreciated. I wait to here from someone in the forum before tackling such a HUGE project as to reinstall Windows and all my programs and data.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI only have 1 user on my computer, but it doesn't automatically log-in for me anymore. I never changed the settings, it just did on it's own this morning for some reason. Also, now for some reason instead of going to a screen saver when I'm inactive for like 10 minutes, it will instead take me back to the log in screen. Also, how can I stop Windows Messenger (a weak version of MSN Messenger) from starting when I turn on my computer? I'm using Windows XP.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently have XP make me password login when I turn it on, but I'm just wondering, is there a way to have it automatically log me in, then go to the switch user screen? I ask this because it usually takes mine a while to load up to the logon screen, but then I have to go back and login before it works properly, so yeah, I'd just like to get it to log me in, load up, then got to the switch user screen so that I can go watch TV for half an hour, come back, and be ready to go.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat happened is I just installed a new Hard Drive and a fresh windows install (XP Pro with Service pack 3). After all was installed it logged into my account (Me) which was my account with Administrator privileges. I did a series of windows updates now when I turn my computer on it goes straight to the Administrator account and not my account (me). So I have to log off or switch accounts from Admin to Me. I just want it to login to Me all the time. So I am not smart enough to figure it out.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Win XP sp2 and I usually leave my computer on 24/7. This morning I tried to open a file but it never opened. I went into the task manager to see if its even processing and it was there but the ccapp was taking all the cpu. So i tried to shutdown and restart. After that windows boots up to the login screen just fine but when i click on my account it take a long time to show my wallpaper. I can pull up task manager and the cpu isnt being used. the hdd is only accessed in little bursts. After a while the start menu pops up. any keyboard commands like to bring up win explorer takes a long time and all the commands pop up in a big burp of of command executions. I'm trying to reach system restore but cant. I'm not sure how to get into safemode with this system because just after post when f8 is usually used to bring up the menu the system opens a boot drive selection screen. During the RAM tests during post theres text stating press del to enter bios and f8 to enter boot drive selection so im not sure how to get to safemode now.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I log on to a non-administrator account, my computer automatically logs itself off again before I get a chance to do anything. I see the logging on message, and before the desktop even shows itself, I see the 'saving your settings' message, and I'm back at the welcome screen. I'm pretty sure it's a bad configuration in one of the administrative tools. I'm running windows xp pro on service pack 2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis computer boots up to a user profile (Welcome) selection log-in screen. Unfortunately, it does not matter which profile is selected because as soon as the profile logs into the users desktop screen (if flashes on the screen for less than a split second) the OS (XP HOME) immediately logs off the profile and returns the computer to the profile log in (Welcome) screen. The computer does NOT re-boot, it only cycles back to the user selection (Welcome) log-in screen. I have also attempted to boot the computer in safe mode and access the Administrator account. The results are the same. Also, I also tried the "Last known good configuration" in safe mode
