i have my dual screen set up and everything used to work perfectly but i used the refresh you pc without effecting files feature of 8 and now when i put a video on one screen and a full screen on the other the video starts laging and runs about 2 fps. although the audio is fine.
While playing a video or games or any app that has sound... the sound suddenly disappears if it is too loud. At first I thought it might be the driver... so i replaced HD Audio with Conexant... but the problem still persists, which lead me to believe that it could be probably the speaker's problem.
But while tweaking around I found that if i quit the video or the game, the sound came back to normal. And also when the sound goes off,the green bar on the volume tray icon still keeps jumping up and down indicating sound output. Hence audio troubleshooter was of no use.
When i opened volume properties, playback devices (a video playing in the background where the sound had gone off),as i switched between the tabs in the dialog box (playbackrecording, sounds, communincation) the sound came back! This cannot be due to the speaker.
I have reinstalled windows8, updated drivers and everything but no effect. What to do, as i cannot see movies or play games with speaker. Also headphones and external speakers have no problem whatsoever.
I have done several installations of Windows 8.1 and I am an average computer user level. The PC is clean and correct, updated drivers and zero waste on my computer. Only Steam Games and downloaded files.
The point is that I can not find the reason for these crashes. Sometimes I do not even blue bug jumps, it just hangs me and I have to trace the RESET button.
I think it happens always or usually watching some video (streaming or video file on my pc) but it has also happened in a game during some cinematic but I think also in the normal course of the game, not sure.
I upgraded to the free Windows 8.1 from the store because of Battlefield 4 and that I heard it could work with the cpu frame render time spikes ( protip : it didn't ).
I did this before with the same error, restored back to Windows 8 and everything was back to normal, the thing is I want to get the bottom of this. WhoCrashed always said it could be a thermal issue, however this is IMPOSSIBLE since I've tested this system 22 times for hours on end to see if an overheat could happen under extreme conditions.
ALT-TAB is not working when I am playing online games (Crossfire -develop by SmileGate/Neowiz) and Steam-DOTA2. I just experience it when I upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. Is there a workaround on this? I don't want to go back to Windows 7 or 8
I cloned my existing Windows installation (8.1 pro, 32 bit) onto my new SSD. I got everything up and running, and I still have my old Windows installation on one of the partitions of my HDD.
Can I turn this setup into a dual boot?
I think this could be useful, in case the new installation gets borked, or in order to run an effective malware scan on the SSD, etc.
Why have MS made search so damn difficult? I am trying to find all videos in my computer and I simply cannot. It only finds the videos in the generic my videos folder. Damn I am so frustrated I want to throw my brand new laptop out the window. By the way I am using Classic shell and never use metro nor want to. Search in win 8
So recently (around a week ago), my computer started taking forever to load YouTube videos. The videos buffer "sometimes fully" and still don't play. This also happens with Webms on any website.
If it's related, I also updated my (IDT) audio drivers around the same time this started happening.
This only happens some of the time (with no relation to the length of the video).
I just discovered this only happens when I'm using Skype (or any other voice chat).
This is still happening even when not using Skype. It's getting really annoying. Also, if a video doesn't play and I load up a bunch of videos at the same time, they don't play either. But then a few seconds/minutes later, they all randomly start playing at the same time. It's really weird.
I have done a bunch of tests (by loading up a bunch of videos) and apparently this is caused by Shockwave Flash. ALL of my audio stops working randomly, and on Google Chrome, when I got a prompt to stop Shockwave Flash (because it was not responding), I clicked "stop," and as soon as I did so all my audio resumed working and the videos started. This is really odd.
Apparently it's not Flash because Spotify is doing basically the same thing with my browser closed.
Apparently I'm also going to make edits all day. I'll keep updating everything I find out. So right now what I forgot to mention is that whenever I click the volume changing little button, it's supposed to make a sound immediately right? For me, voice mixer stops responding for 10-20 seconds, then 10 seconds later it plays a sound. Should I reinstall/remove my audio drivers or what? I
I now remember that the old audio drivers I had were RealTek High Definition Audio drivers. I updated them to IDT through the HP website with this exact model. I know I got the right drivers for this model, but this is horrible, all the bugs and general-unworkability of this.
I thought that Windows 7 search was bad until I started trying to search for my many videos in my win 8 laptop. I even used KIND:= VIDEOS but the search came up empty???? This frustration never used to happen with win XP. I tried all manner of searches and although I have hundreds of videos still the search could not find a single one. Any third party search that is at least as good as XPs? I often do searches and need to use wildcards because of the plethora of files I have. If possible I would prefer a free search application.
I use the excellent Classic Shell. With my fast booting win 8 (fast booting is the only positive thing about win 8 I have encountered so far).
I bought new computer parts in January and was having several BSOD issues with Windows 7. I decided to reformat using Windows 8.1 and had not had a single crash up until about 2 weeks ago. It started as a single crash. Then another a few days later. Now I'm to the point where I get several crashes a night.
Crashes tend to happen when watching videos, but has also occurred as soon as Windows finished loading from sleep or restart.
I purchased a new hard drive this evening thinking that my hard drive was the issue, as it was one of only 2 parts I didn't upgrade when I upgraded my computer (though I did reformat my HDD several times after installing the new hardware). I installed Windows 8.1 on the new HDD and installed Windows updates with no issues. But shortly after I got another couple of crashes. I cleared the new HDD and put it back in the box since the hard drive wasn't the issue, so the crash dump files I'm including are from the original HDD. I got 2 crashes on the new HDD before clearing it, and the error messages were similar to what I was getting with the original HDD. (KMODE)
HP Laptop WIN 8, Does NOT play back any videos!!!!!!
I've sent my friend different video formats, but he can not open any of them.
Does he simply need to remove FLASH, and re-install the program....Does he also have to go into Flash settings, if there is one, and change to ALL FILE TYPES, like Windows Explorer has in it's tools, or settings? he and I also have DROPBOX, but without a player, he still can not play any videos.
What should he try next? He's not that close to me, and doubt if he knows how to download new programs like FLV, or another kind of program to work with this HP Laptop, or even go into ADD/REMOVE programs and delete the FLASH PROGRAM. If you need the model. I will get that shortly.
Does it also matter if he's using the ADOBE FLASH, or NOT? I'm not sure what his laptop has.
I use pinnacle Studio 15, so I can convert almost any video to a format, but playing on all computers can be challenging, with not everyone having the same video players. Mpg, Avi, .Mov, Quicktime, Flash
I am importing photos and videos from CANON VIXIA HF 200 HD camcorder. When I choose "Date Taken" as the sort order for the folder, date is not detected at all. All the files are tagged with date under Dec 26, 1899. I have used the same SD card to import in a windows 7 PC, all the dates are detected correctly. This issue happens only with CANON camcorder. It works fine with a NIKON camera - Dates recognized correctly.
When I play an Mpeg2 video file thru Media Player, its plays the sound fine, but there is not video. The video played with no problems with Media Player in Windows 7.
I have loaded VLC & the video played fine, but I like to use Media Player.
I'm running with Windows 8.1 and still trying to get used to it, my issue now is that on some but not all videos on FB that I try to view in fullscreen it only last a matter of seconds before freezing up automatically going wacko back to the original posting and then scrolls on it's own...........
I am running a Toshiba computer with Windows 8 and Google Chrome as my default browser.
Basically, any videos from any website will load but not play, and any sounds (not necessarily just from Google Chrome) won't play either. For example, when I change the volume of my computer it does not play a tone (when it normally should). I have updated Java and Adobe Shockwave to no avail.
The problem started occurring a couple of days ago. Originally I could restart my computer and I would be fine for a while, but eventually that stopped working. I have had this computer for at least 6 months and have not had any problems with it. Also I ran a quick scan with Windows Defender and it didn't find anything out of the ordinary.
I have windows 8.1 and for some reason I found a folder filled with Face Book files in my videos. I do not know how they got there. Can I move those or delete that folder?
It happens when i watch vids in youtube, downloading things by IDM. ( Internet Download Manager )my pc just freezes alot when i do these thing. The errors file is attached down.
I have an Acer Aspire V5 laptop. It has a celeron cpu,and is a basic small laptop. I listen to video news online, and i have not installed or uninstalled any software prior to the problem of no sound in videos since it last played back video with sound.
I have tried to play the same video on firefox and internet explorer, and there was no sound, only video. The browsers are using FlashPlayer as far as I know. And the speakers (realtech are the default speakers-found in the control panel/sound.Is there another sound setting? The sound card works as skype works.
The volume link is not available on the video played in both browsers. And the mute button is available in IE but not in Firefox, but it is not muted(as I have checked). And the volume which is accessed from the bottom right hands side of windows is at max.
On my desktop computer, when I try viewing youtube videos (and videos from some other sources) full screen, the toolbar across the bottom of screen in the desktop mode remains visible, blocking my view of (and use of) the player controls at bottom of the youtube player. All I can see is the seek bar moving as the video plays. If I put the toolbar in the AutoHide mode, then I can see (and use) the youtube player controls.
On my laptop with Windows 8, this problem does not exist. The entire player appears normally as if there were an "always on top" mode.
One difference is that the laptop had Windows 8 factory installed, while I installed Windows 8 over XP in my desktop. (That $39 deal offered at the beginning of the year was too good to pass up). Both computers have x64-based processors.
Computer comparisons: Laptop: Samsung; AMD A6-4400M APU with Radeon HD Graphics, 2.70 GHz; 4.00 GB RAM, 64-bit OS Desktop: Homebuilt; AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 5050e; ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics (with latest driver); 2GB RAM; 32-bit OS
Neither computer has the toolbar in the AutoHide mode.
On some sites with the desktop computer, when I move the mouse pointer toward the left edge of the player, the seek bar retracts and I can't grab it to drag it to the right. I don't know the if laptop also has this problem.
Iaccidentally deleted my photos and videos... I'll try to search the recycle bin....but inside was empty how do i restore it back? i'll try system restore and many software but also didn't work.... those photo ad videos is very important to me.... I'm using windows 8
The present file format of these personal videos is: .3gp. When I try to play them in Xbox video I get this error message: Can't play because the item's file format isn't supported. Check the store to see if this item is available there. 40 apps open when I did check. Which app will play this .3gp format? I can visually play them in Windows Media Player but for some reason there's no sound & it's turned up to full volume.
I have a Sony Handycam DCR-HC30 (an older model). The video quality still holds up pretty well though. I am having problems though capturing videos onto Windows 8 though. I thought it was my camera that was not properly working, but after researching I found that a lot of people are having issues with Sony Handycams being recognized by Windows Vista or later Windows software. I have the Pinnacle MovieBox 710-USB to capture, and Pinnacle Studios as the software to capture/edit. The program will recognize the videos from the camera through AV cables, but the transfer isn't too great and frames get dropped. After a lot of trial and error, purchasing the Pinnacle device, and getting the cables needed, I am still unable to get my Windows 8 computer to recognize video through any IEEE 1394 Firewire cable. My lap top doesn't have any slots to add a capture card either, and doesn't have a 6 pin or 4 pin IEEE firewire slot (which is why I had to get the Pinnacle MovieBox).
I have brand new MSI GT60 laptop with GTX870M ,i7-4800MQ CPU and 8gb ram.
There is a random 2-3 second freeze every few minutes while i am streaming videos(any site CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News, youtube, etc). they don't play smoothly at all , they play so laggy. during this freeze audio does not loop or freeze, it continues normally.
i have tried the following 1. i have updated all the drivers video, network, sound. 2. Tried a different browser (both Firefox and Chrome). 3. Used the killer cleaner and installed the pure drivers. 4. Tried the killer package from MSI support page, recovery disc and the version from Qualcomm site. 5. Gave up and installed a brand new windows 8.1 as a secondary boot, same issue. 6. tried disconnecting all USB devices and everything , still freezes.
This particular issue could not be a temp thing, since it starts right from the moment i switch on the laptop. Also i don't notice any lags when i am playing games or playing videos using some video player(BS player/VLN)
Its not an internet issue as well, videos would have completely buffered already but would still freeze. Looks like a flash player issue, i have tried 3 versions of flash player (11,13,14 ) all have this issue, i just cant solve this.
I have also run some traces, uploaded trace files here: [URL] ....
I installed win 8 about 2 weeks ago and i noticed something really annoying.when i play videos on 720p in chrome (desktop) they lag. Dont lag like all the time but they lag for like 1 2 secs and then they start running smooth again. I already check for drivers and i got the newest one. I tried in IE and i dont have this problem but EI sucks big time. I know that my video card is kinda old but with windows 7. I didn't had any problems with videos on youtube even on 1080p.So is there something i can do about those lags?
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M CPU @ 2.30GHz 782/100mhz.) I
have Windows 8 64 bit. I have looked up this no sound problem on googgle and tried all recommendation to no avail. My audio card is not showing it has an issue. I have tried a headset and I am unable to hear any sound. I can play any videos on my computer but no sound. I can play YouTube on Chrome (no sound) but cant play YouTube in Firefox as it errors out This just happened this week - I don't know why. I don't remember downloading anything and I did not install any new software.
When I play videos on youtube, WMP, mplayer or adobe air/flash, video app or whatever, the entire display/screen moves to the left and leaves a black rectangle on the right side of the plasma TV (about one sixth the width of the display). It doesn't happen as soon as I launch the video, but happens when I exit the fullscreen or terminate the app/window and stays that way. The only way to reset it is to log off and log back in or restart the computer.
Mind you, it is not the apps/windows shifting to the left but the entire display, as if some one used the tv settings to move the display area to the left and so left part of the desktop and windows are cut off.
This is getting pretty annoying as keep switching to apps that display text such as VS, Notepad, browser etc in between while playing movies/videos. I can't read what is on the left side of the app window as it is not visible, I need to either resize the window or log out and log back in.
I am using Windows 8 x64 with latest updates and drivers (display and others).
My question is about IE, Google Chrome and other browsers. The sounds and musics playing on the browsers I have installed, stops every time I switch to another application. For example: If I open a music video on youtube and switch to the e-mail app, the video continue playing but the sound and music stops. I wonder if any of you have already noticed that and if you know if it's possible to fix this issue (for me this is a problem since I like to play some videos and do other stuff while I listen to what is playing).
