View 1 Repliesafter using Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop for almost 2 years I decided to upgrade to Windows 8. The first day it was working fine,no problems at all. The other day I disconnected my USB mouse and it would keep on playing the disconnect sound, however, I solved that issue. Recently since yesterday whenever I would start my laptop and login, the windows start up sound won't play. It plays once I connect any one usb device to the laptop, but it will play the default usb connected sound with the latter devices. I ticked the 'play windows sound on start up' at the sound properties.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently the sound on my Sony Vaio will play initially, but afterwards won't work. It doesn't say it's muted and the little green part that shows sound in the speaker area also doesn't appear when something is playing. I have tried to test the speakers to see if that plays sound but when I do it says that they are being used with another application and to close it before I try to test them, even when nothing else is open. If I restart it, the same thing will happen again. Why is this happening?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI upgraded from Win7 to Windows 8 (both running the MS Media Center) and it's created a problem with music playback . It used to work fine, but now I get random stutters. Sometimes it goes 10 or 15 minutes without any problem, but often it's more frequent than that - and it's very, very annoying. The system runs an AMD A8 APU, Gigabyte A75M UD2H motherboard, 4 GB of RAM and Win 8 Pro with MC. I use the audio on the motherboard (Realtek HD audio) and output is via SPDIF to a dedicated DAC (brand is Rega) and then to a Denon amp. I've had no problems with audio from DVD/Blu-Ray, TV (via TV tuner card) or when streaming TV programs via the internet. Music is my prime use for the media center.
By the way, I've tried upgrading all the drivers I can, eg downloaded latest drivers from Gigabyte website, AMD website, Realtek website, Linksys website (for WUSB600N wireless network adapter). There is a newer driver for my TV tuner card (KWorld PCIE dual tuner PE310) available via MS update but last time I tried updating drivers for that card via MS update I lost all my TV channels and had to roll-back and re-scan them to recover.
I have an older MC system (running an Athlon 64 ) which I also upgraded from Win7 to Windows 8, and it seems to have no problem. It uses analogue audio out to an external amp.
I've read that Windows 8 has DPC latency problems and that can cause audio stutter. I downloaded some software which measures the latency, and it was showing a consistent value, in the "yellow" range - which seemed to mean it was slightly higher than ideal but shouldn't have been a problem. Unfortunately I can't recall the name of the software now, or where I found it(!!).
When the audio is on, for videos, games, music, etc. it sometimes "skips" like an old cd player. Its pretty obnoxious, and I'm wondering why exactly this is so. I'm assuming I have an old driver or something, because I upgraded my pc from win 7 to win 8 pro.

View 8 Replies View RelatedUsing the Windows 8.1 music app, I have properly setup my library to load from my second HDD, but it only loads 80 artists out of over 120. All my music is properly tagged and in Artist/Year - Album/ folder format.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI deleted my music from my music app and cannot re-add it. The files were added automatically the first time, but now the app won't add them. Can I refresh the cache for the music app or what can I do?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently migrated to Windows 8. My music collection stumbled along the way and I had to re-fetch artwork for a few albums in WMP. I also set it up in iTunes. My default app for MP3s is WMP. As you can see below, artwork only appears when in the folder view (which somewhat defeats the purpose of libraries in the first place). I'd prefer to sort them by artist, with album art displayed without a folder, as it should and as it did in Windows 7.
Art appears in folder view but not artist or album view.
On a related note, I recently added many new MP3s to my collection. When I opened Xbox Music for the first time afterwards, it seemed to be downloading art to add it to my older albums, all of which have art. Then the process was somehow interrupted. I believe I closed the app. Then, when I opened it again, none of them had art.
I had recently replaced my HDD with SSD, So I had backed up & erased all the personal files including music, videos etc from respective folders, Actually there is no files other than system files, programs, softwares in the SSD now, I had done disk cleanup, defrag , clearing of temp, prefetch folders etc before starting the cloning everything from HDD to SSD,
After replacement, now I could see all my collection of songs/music in the Now Playing section of Music App (Modern app), No music files are actually present for me to locate in any of the folders when I go through for explorer,
I'm not able to play the music files by clicking it from Music App , & when I delete it from there by right clicking it - temporarily goes away but returns when i close the App and opens it again..
I had unchecked & checked the indexing option in the Music folder (File Explorer) - properties & restarted system, checked, But still all the music files are listed in the App, how to clear the music file listings from the Music app permanently which are not really present in the system?
how to delete music from music app i delete all my music from my pc but when ever i open the music app it stream my music back wth i want to delete everything start from scratch
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the laptop as stated above, i have had it a week and the user before me had decided to put on 7 instead of 8. i completely wiped and restored to windows 8.1, installed all sammy drivers and ensured it is all up to date.
the laptop had huge instability issues, the hdd was on its way out as mbr was damaged and the heads were ticking badly. then i found the ram was not secured in the sockets properly too. so i fixed it all!
Anyways back to the problem. i have the realtek hd audio drivers installed from sammy, reinstalled the ones from realtek themselves and still nothing.
Main issue, mic and speakers built in work and are fully detected. but the microphone port and headphone port are not detected, no matter what i plug into them.
I installed Windows 8.1 this weekend and when I insert a music CD Windows 8.1 freezes. It is not instant, it takes a few minutes before it freezes. There are no blue screens or crashdumps or anything useful. Windows simply stops responding and I have to power cycle my PC. The only entry in the Windows log is a kernel power event complaining about an unexpected shutdown.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy question is about IE, Google Chrome and other browsers. The sounds and musics playing on the browsers I have installed, stops every time I switch to another application. For example: If I open a music video on youtube and switch to the e-mail app, the video continue playing but the sound and music stops. I wonder if any of you have already noticed that and if you know if it's possible to fix this issue (for me this is a problem since I like to play some videos and do other stuff while I listen to what is playing).
View 3 Replies View RelatedWindows 8. New build I have. I am running windows 8 off of a SSD, and have a new HDD that I bought for everything else. I recently transferred my music over from an external HD and now when I attempt to find them in my Xbox app I can't seem to select that drive. It only sees my SSD, and I do not want to install music on that. How do I make it so my apps pull files right from that drive?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is a problem I've encountered on 2 totally different devices. The first was a stationary self built computer, and I figured the problem had to come from compatibility issues, maybe some kind of internal arguments between drivers and hardware, so I returned to Windows 7 and thought nothing more about it. Win 8 was still pretty new back then.
Then about half a year ago I bought a Fujitsu UH572 with Windows 8 pre-installed from the factory.where around every 20 minutes there's a 5 second window with choppy playback of sound, no matter which player used. VLC, Google music, youtube, Gom player etc..
This issue is far beyond ridiculous, considering Win 8 is meant to be Microsoft's big save, re-inventing the hole user experience on PC. So far I have next to nothing bad to say about the years I've spent using Win 7 x64, in contrast to Win 8 which so far has given nothing but anger management issues.
Prior versions of Windows included sample photos, videos and music files from Microsoft.
I have a new install of Windows 8 Home, 64 Bit OEM version and when I look in My Pictures, My Videos, and My Music these libraries are empty. In the past after installing Windows, I used these files to do a quick check to see that sound card and other parts of the system were working. I went to try that in Windows 8 and no files!
I do not know if they are there but in a new location, or if they are no longer included, or if something went wrong with the install, or something else.
I am also not finding any sample photos when I start up the Photo Tile App.
I am having windows 8 phone. The mobile is not responding sometimes. MEans the touch is not working sometimes. It is not responding. And another issue is my music files are getting multiplied and each file has 6 duplicate copy now.

After losing my Metro tiles to an error, and not being able to restore or refresh my PC, I decided to purge and re-install. I have several HDD's in my computer, and would like to learn how to map documents, music, etc. to my D: drive by default, to save room on C: for Windows and programs. I think it is done by RegEdit.

But no matter what, if I use the music tile on the start page, tells me I have no music or even audiobooks, no nothing basically. I used windows file transfer , I got my pics and docs, the music is there, windows just doesn't see it on the start screen. Most purchased with iTunes.
