Windows 8 pro, when using Google chrome, it is on top of the taskbar.
In xp there was a "taskbar always on top" box in properties which fixed it.
I can't find it in 8.
I made the mistake of selecting the Google Chrome App.
I want to go back to my old Google Chrome but I can't find a way to do it.
I uninstalled Chrome, downloaded a new install file and reinstalled it and it still opens the app.
How do I stop it?
The case is that Chrome fails on every and any single file that I try to download.
I'm being told that the anti-virus scan failed and so I found some turorial on how to update the registry in Windows (I run 8.1) in order to make the virus scan work after a download is completed. This did not work. I already tried to run CCleaner to fix registry issues, I ran Malwarebytes on a full scan and I also re-installed Chrome to no change.
I have checked that I am fully able to download files in Windows Explorer 10 just as expected, so it would seem that it's something with Chrome and I was advised to look at the .temp folder's size but it was completely empty and I also have lots of free harddrive space.
When I open Google Chrome I get a page that says google chrome did not shut down correctly. Then I get another page. How can I fix this in windows 8?

After I've installed the latest windows 8 update a lot of stuff isen't working.
But, the only place my internet works is in Google Chrome?
If i try Internet Explorer, then I just get a message saying that the page could not be shown.
If I in chrome, try to download an application that has an installer, like skype for example, then I get an error saying that I do not have internet.
But dropbox for some reasons works fine.
EDIT: It seems like I can only upload.
I was trying to reinstall Google Chrome but I keep getting the following error 'Installation failed. The Google Chrome installer failed to start'.

View 3 Replies View RelatedGoogle Chrome opens fine when I've just started it. If I close it accidentally or forgot something and have to reopen it after I close it, it will not open. It's almost as if it isn't closing properly but when I check task manager it does not show it running. I have to wait 20 - 30 min. to open it again. I've reinstalled and it still does this. I've tried to find tech support for a free product on Google Chrome sites, but they only support free the products you purchase.

This issue has been happening for 2 days. I have Windows 8.1 in an Asus G46V. My anti-virus is Norton 360.When I logged into my computer, I got an error message saying that I could use the computer because I was administrator or something like that. It was the first time I had seen that in my life. I ignored it and I tried to launch Chrome. It took around 4 minutes to start, normally it takes 5 seconds. I didn't know what it was, so I looked at event viewer and I saw I had several errors of Service Control Manager, event ID 7000. Maybe it was related, I don't know. So far I have reinstalled Chrome and re-started my PC with no success.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with Google Chrome's freezes for quite a while now.
They are random, first you see that your browser doesn't respond anymore, but then neither does the PC.
You wait up to 3 minutes, and everything works out. But that's not really ideal.
So, in order to see what was wrong with my problem, I thought that I should get Mozilla Firefox.
But as I have seen, that does not change anything.
I have looked all over the internet and cannot find a solution to this, cleared cache/history/etc, re-installed chrome (twice) and still the sound does not work and it's getting kind of annoying. It works fine in IE but not Chrome,

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have used Google Chrome browser for years. Suddenly, it crashed. I uninstalled and reinstalled. No luck. Uninstalled with RevoUnistaller and deleted registry entries and leftover files. Reinstalled several times. No luck. IE, Firefox, etc. all work fine. View 7 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my laptop to Windows 8 around the new year, and until about June everything worked just fine. Then, Google Chrome all of a sudden started freezing up the entire system and required a restart. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it multiple times and every time the same thing happened. Every time I launched Chrome everything froze up. A month later I tried reinstalling it once again and the same thing happened. Is there anything that may be causing this, as it seems very strange for one single browser to have such an effect and I would very much like to switch back to Chrome.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set Chrome as my default browser and have it open in Desktop mode, but it always opens in Metro Mode if it's the default. I've tried the "Relaunch Chrome in the desktop" (lots of times), but it just beeps and stays in Metro mode. This used to work, but it suddenly changed a few weeks ago, and I simply can't work out how to get it back. I didn't change anything. (Windows or Chrome may have behind the scenes, but I didn't fiddle with any of the levers). Chrome just started launching in Metro mode one morning, and nothing I do will change that if it's the default.
The only way I can open Chrome in Desktop Mode is to set IE as the the default browser. And that is most definitely not what I want. I'm a web dev, and love the Chrome dev tools, so want it as the default.
To make things even more confusing, I've got 2 Win 8.1 machines side by side, and Chrome works exactly as I want on one of them, and not on the other. I've looked everywhere I can think of, and both systems are set up identically, from what I can see.
When I type something in Google chrome address bar how do i stop suggestions appearing in the address bar Ive gone into settings and advanced setting and unticked the things i am supposed to untick but nothing works I've gone on to extensions and added a history cleaner but this doesn't stop suggestions.

My laptop has been crashing regularly and very often for about a month. Happens most of the time when I open a new webpage on chrome, or a video plays in browser - and I get this error displayed: Attempted Execute of NoExecute Memory.
I suppose this is a driver problem - this became a menace ever since I tried updating my video and audio drivers from the HP Website (Using a HP Envy DV6 7245us Laptop). I've tried reinstalling the drivers but it didn't solve the problem.
The laptop is new - bought it in September. Worked fine. Ran virus scans - nothing detected (I use BitDefender).
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
RAM: 6 GB
2.3GHz up to 3.2GHz AMD Quad-Core A10-4600M Accelerated Processor
AMD Radeon HD 7660G Discrete-Class graphics and up to 3060MB total graphics memory
Okay so this has happened several times now and I can't find an solution, I just got finished installking several extensions and changed some settings to Google Chrome, but when I close it, it like resets the browser to default every time and none of them are saved? This is the only web browser this is happening on and its strange?

Only IE 11 can connect to the internet. Firefox chrome or other programs not connecting...
I removed Eset disable firewall but nothing work.
I have a HP Laptop Pavilion Windows 8. Recently I caught the Highlite App. I finally was able to remove it, after trying every malware and adware remover I could think of. After I finally got rid of it, and all of it's annoying pop ups, the laptop and browsers work great for about a day and then the internet started freezing and I will get a "Google Chrome (Not Responding). It will also do the same thing with IE and Mozilla, but Chrome seems to be the worst of the three. Sometimes it's so bad, it's not usable. I updated Flash Shock wave yesterday, but it hasn't seemed to work.
I'm on Mozilla now. I got lucky.
Here's what happened. Yesterday in the morning i was on my laptop (windows 8).
When suddenly, it started going really slow. I restarted it and every time i log into my account, i goes a bit slower, but not too much. Then whenever i open Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, the disk space goes straight up to 100% and doesn't go down. I went into safe mode and it didn't go slow then so it must be something else. I also downloaded AVG and scanned my computer but it found no threats. I have made a new account, which goes slow sometimes but is fine most of the time.
unable to connect to one particular website using Windows 8.1 with IE11 or Google Chrome.
Always get message...."This page can't bedisplayed", then when I check box to fix connection problem a dialog box displays message, "The remotedevice or resource won't accept the connection... xxx(web site) is not set up to acceptconnections on port 'The World Wide Web Service HTTP'."
There are no problems using IE11or Google Chrome in connecting to any other site(s) or exploring the internet. I do not have any 3rd party antivirus or malware protection. Have tried many different suggestion found in searching the web but no luck yet.
Some how, some way I have turned on some kind of Google/Chrome desktop on my Asus ME400C. It opens up when I click on the chrome icon or something brings it up (see attached image).

Whenever I use Google Chrome on my PC, YouTube videos always look overly pixilated, even in HD.
When I disable adblock on Chrome it works sometimes.
So after using google chrome for about a year and having no problems whatsoever, just today I encountered one where the initial startup takes a very long time about 10-15 minutes, and this is only on initial launch, as when I keep chrome open any new chrome windows I launch load normally which is nearly instantly. I have done every procedure here Google Groups though not separately and it still takes an incredibly long time for chrome to load on initial launch.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHow to fix Chrome as it is taking an unusually long time to load. It started just today a few hours ago when I logged into Facebook here in my laptop, I normally don't use it in my laptop as I just use it on my phone mainly and have a desktop at school where I submit my school files early to avoid submitting them on my laptop. But when I was forced to submit at home and use Facebook on my laptop to submit my files, Chrome then starts taking a very long time to load, about 10-15 minutes. It isn't an internet problem as were getting a pretty average 7 mbps, and strange thing is IE is working well and fine. Tried doing some research and some suggested it was a firewall issue but I doubt it, as I never tweak my antivirus settings. I tried this When Google Chrome won't start up | Computerworld Blogs but couldn't continue as I seem to be missing the debug.log mentioned and so couldn't make sure if I was having the same problem, so pretty lost at the moment.
After the 15 minute wait for chrome to open, and while I STILL have the browser open, opening new Chrome windows is then back to normal. But soon as I close my Chrome windows I then have to wait lots again. And it seems no matter how many shortcuts I try to open, I remember I clicked Chrome about 20 times it only always opens just 2 Chrome windows
