Samsung Computer With Windows 8 And IE10 - How To Change Default Home Page
Jul 20, 2013
I have had yahoo as my home page. Recently I keep getting redirected to hsrd.yahoo or I also have seen us.lrd.yahoo also. I have a new Samsung computer with windows 8 and ie10. I can't seem to change the default home page. This is what shows up [URL]....
I recently bought a Windows 8 tablet and I'm forced to use IE10 on it to browse the Internet because everything else is crap. I like the idea how you can swipe to the left and right to go back and forth webpages. But when info that, instead of just loading the page from a cache, the page completely reloads. It doesn't even take me the correct location of the webpage. These issues completely take away the advantage of swipe navigation.
Is there anyway to force IE not to reload the webpage completely when swiping back (don't really care about forward part)? If I could set a time period before reloading the page, that would be ideal.
BTW, It could be more noticeable because this Atom based tablet is much slower than a typical Windows 8 PC. Besides, I don't use IE on the desktop so I don't know how it performs on it. I bet it won't be as noticeable as on the tablet because it is multiple times faster than the tablet and it is connected to he Internet with a cable.
I just sent my computer in to be worked on a month ago. I had this working before then
It was factory reset so this is a computer/browser issue, nothing with the restore
I had Yahoo Email set as default. For each of my previous computers, I did too.
I cannot find the link telling me how to do it: I remember seeing it could be done with a particular version of Yahoo toolbar And I saw one that would install the mail plugin with Yahoo Messenger
Neither has been there when I installed several versions.
Windows 8 Laptop. My homepage doesn't appear when I boot. Basically, I get a page that I looked at last. First thing I did was go to Internet Options to make sure the box which says to open with home page is checked and it is. Browser is IE.
I just installed Windows 8.1 on my Laptop, I formatted the hard drive and did a clean install, when I opened Internet Explorer it went to my usual home page??
How is that possible? I have not set up a home page since installing Windows 8.1.
I don't know how this happened but for a week every time I open my msn homepage this Lenovo site opens like a attachment to my home page. How can I eliminate this.
After doing a recent update to Win 8, my home page on Fire Fox has been hijacked, and I can't get rid of it. I've restored to system to the day prior to when the new page appeared, I've deleted cookies, I've reset the homepage within Fire Fox, I've run Avast and Malwarebyte; it's still there.
I use a Lenovo C540 All In One with 23" screen and when I open IE10 the small version of homepage appears. Is there any way that I can get this to open full screen.
I'm running Windows 8.1 and think I have run into the same issue [URL] .....
My Anti-Virus has picked up a program which has removed the default page in question from my Chrome. However, when I open Internet Explorer, that page- "[URL] ...." opens and I have done everything I can to remove it. I've went into the Internet settings and removed it from default pages, etc and changed my homepage, but the page still persists. I believe I have also removed any relevant suspect programs from 'add or remove programs' but the problem page still persists.
Again, the antivirus seems to have removed all trace of 'iStartSurf' from my Google Chrome. I do not use Internet Explorer but these kinds of issues make me quite paranoid. Just whatever I do, Internet Explorer opens with that iStartSurf page.
I've put the iStartSurf page on the blocked site list for Internet Explorer which causes it to load no media on the page when IE opens up. However I'd still like to have it removed altogether.
Obviously there is no doubt that the n150+ or any Samsung note/netbook have had problems with not being able to control their devices brightness on Windows 7. This is because any driver after the OEM driver would change a particular number in the registry(regedit)
There were two fixes to this problem in WIndows 7. The simple way was to install the original VGA driver. The other was to change a specific number to 84 in the registries.
I have tried both and still can't adjust brightness with the fn keys. I've installed Easy Display Manager which is the software required to use fn key functions. Sound works automatically with or without the software.
Simply for the home desktop and want to share with other kit on the home network.
When I boot up it appears I have to always tweak the settings :
1) Control Panel > System > Change settings > Network ID and select under "Select the option that best describes your network" so I opt for I tick "this is a home computer; it's not part of a business network." 2 )The reboot.
All works fine and all devices can be seen and read/write in accordance with the appropriate share settings.
Now the issue is when I next reboot the
Control Panel > System > Change settings > Network ID and select under "Select the option that best describes your network" will default to "This computer is part of a business network; I use it to connect to other computers at work".
So I have to got through steps 1 and 2 again.
How to I get Windows 8.1 Pro x64 to default to the "this is a home computer; it's not part of a business network." on each boot without having to manual configure.
I want to configure my router settings. When I try to go to the address 192.168.1.1 via my browser, it doesn't open the router configuration page. I found that I have no "Default Gateway" Address.
Here's what I found from the config/all command in CMD
I've just purchased Office 2013 as a stand alone on disk. Is it possible to set Word to open to a blank page by default as in Office 2010, instead of the selection menu of various pre-formatted pages?
When I go to advanced system settings and choose Home instead of business, when I save and restart it is still on Business network. I have windows 8 pro 64 bit on a HP pavilion elite 8 gb ram i6 1tb drive. I have made sure that the services below are running as well as set to Auto.
o Computer Browser o DHCP Client o DNS Client o Network Connections o Network Location Awareness o Remote Procedure Call (RPC) o Server o TCP/IP Netbios helper o Workstation
Also, I have recently "refreshed" my computer which I thought had fixed it. It actually fixed the "turn file sharing" not saving issue I was having, now this.
The number of emails displayed per page in Outlook.com is 35 ( reading pane is off ), how to reduce this to 25 so that I don't need to scroll down ? I realise that I can obviate scrolling by reducing the zoom from 100% to 75% but I don't find that very comfortable, the text size is then too small for my liking.
First and foremost, I do not want to disable OneDrive; I just want to make it behave.
I have an external hard drive that I save all my data to; however, to save to it in Windows 8.1 is a virtual nightmare. As you can see from the clip, OneDrive is the default selection, with Computer and Add a Place supposedly available.
However, when I click on Ad a Place, I get:
What I would like to see as a choice is my external hard drive, but after searching diligently, I can find no way to make my external hard drive the default location.
Somehow I have lost the ability to not use my microsoft account password to get access to my home computer. How can I get this back to my old password not connected to Microsoft account?
I wasn't aware that I had used an email to get the Windows 8 started but I guess I did. I closed that account and am not able to access it. However, if I want to get into the store, etc. It tells me to log in with that email address. It will not let me change the address in the login screen. How to do I change in on the computer? Where is that setting?
I recently bought a notebook with Windows 8 core pre-installed. The system type is 64-bit OS, and x-64 bit processor. How can I set the Windows Media Player to default 64-bit? It's currently running at 32-bit as shown by the Task Manager.
I see there is a Classic Start 8 Menu that once installed will give you back the Windows 7 style menu. If you install it, can you still go back to the default Windows 8 Start page if you like?
Can you change the default search engine in win 8.1 from bing to google. If i search something whilst in the metro ui it uses bing. can it use google instead.
Always when i install a new version of windows i change the default location of music, documents, downloads etc. Accidentally i change the documents folder to Documents without the after D: (don't know why windows let me choose this location in the first place). But I can't change the location, every time i right click on the documents folder to change the location, explorer crashes.
First I thought it wouldn't be a big problem by changing the default folder in different programs to D:Documents for example in Office. But for soms programs it's a problem, I can't change the default folder and it takes Documents which gives an error.
It's also creating random documents folders on my D partition.
How can I change the default folder for documents? I'm not talking about the library folders, but the folders underneath "This PC"
Is it possible to change the default sleep state to S3 ? So everytime i sleep command is sent to the computer, it would enter advanced S3 sleep instead of just the normal sleep state.
The reason i want to do that is because i bought a MCE remote (Rosewill RHRC-11002). It has a sleep button and i want to use it to make my HTPC enter S3 Sleep mode...
My mother got a new laptop for Christmas. When I set it up for her I went through and did the "express" set-up or whatever it is called instead of the custom set-up.
I too got a new laptop and did the set-up on mine after I did hers. I now want to go back and do the custom set-up on her computer instead of the express setup I did initially.
