I have touchpad laptop. once 2 apps are established the apps(very) frequently switch by very slight touchpad arrow mpvement in central part of screen 1-is this normal?(I find it infuriating) 2-can be eliminated? (ie..restrict switch behavior to edge movements)
I've pressed it once before to restore my laptop to factory settings. It works great. It also restored Windows 8 to a fresh install without having to fudge around with installation DVDs.
I just had a few questions:
What exactly is this button and this process called?
Will this restore trusted/measured boot after one of Lenovo staff turn it off while I was on the phone with them ? (I forgot how they did it. I'm sure I can find out how on Google, but I'm nonetheless curious if it could be done with this button.)
Earlier today my Asus x551m laptop stopped working; the cursor arrow is still visible and movable, but nothing is clickable, ctrl-alt-delete does nothing, and this laptop does not have an easily removable battery that would allow for a hard reset. Also, when I hold the laptop up to my ear, it is completely silent as if it's not even running. It's been like this for almost 3 hours, and I'm hoping that it will be ok once the battery dies and I power it on again.
I have multiple files and documents scattered on several computers and hard drives. They are In folders, in subfolders, in subfolders, in subfolders in subfolders.
How best to organize these and remove duplicates. I would expect this would also atrequire a significant proprietary program.
I recently made a partition for the (forget the exact name) but the I guess demo version of Windows 8. I will just upgrade to Windows 8 when it comes out. Is there a way to get rid of that partition, and just have my hard drive back to the way it was?
i'm trying to remove the above mentioned (in pic) certificate using CMD (all the problem relies on using CMD which is what i need) i've tried those lines:

My hp laptop came with Windows 8 and I was not impressed. I heard that 8.1 was what Window 8 was supposed to be, so I did the recommended download on April 20,2014 and my laptop has worked terrible ever since. I can get some emails coming in, but I can send non out on the Incredimail that I have used for years. My hp Solution Center is not available because it has no download for this new operating system. If I use my web mail host email page, I can no longer open pdf files, when I try they just disappear forever. Other emails will just disappear as well, when I am reading another email. Sending messages on my Facebook page is no longer possible, it shows that it has left, but all parties I have sent to have received nothing. All of my system pages say I have Windows 8.1 now and I see know 8 anymore. If it is impossible to get rid of 8.1, how do I make it run properly?
I noticed that wsappx is occasionally consuming non-trivial amounts of my CPU.
Searching the internet, I learn that wsappx is not necessary for operation of my PC. One user suggests killing it via task manager.
When I tried to end the task I got a scary warning along the lines of "may render Windows unusable" I probably did not record the message accurately, and wsappx seems to have (temporarily?) gone away on its own.
My c drive is starting to fill up, so I decided to move and reorganize some "stuff". Everything went fine and I have a full backup on an external 3TB drive. I also have two separate 2 TB external drives and all is fine.
My last task, before moving/deleting all my pictures and videos (30.000 in total) off my c drive, was to format all my other internal drives and/or remove/upgrade them to bigger ones and this is where I ran into a problem.
I have win 8.1 with all service updates as of today. My computer specs are all in my info.
I want to remove the drive G: and replace it with a 2TB one, I deleted everything from the old drive, but when I removed it, I got a boot error.
What I found was, that the hidden files in the picture bellow are still on it and needed to boot.
How can I move these files onto my C: drive?
I found one tip, to use this command: bcdboot c:windows /s c: but it didn't change the fact that the computer doesn't boot without the G: drive attached.
I had a virus and needed to contact HP helpdesk but on start-up all my files now look like this "filename (2013_07_30 16_31_09 UTC)" HP said do this manually but not an option. how to remove the bracketed information?
First off, when I type in Korean and Japanese using the appropriate Korean/Japanese IMEs, the language bar is autoset to Half_width alphanumeric. I want to remove all options except for Hiragana and Full-Width Katakana and set it so that when I change my language to Japanese it automatically sets to Hiragana. Similarly with Korean how do I remove the alphanumeric and leave only the korean language option? Secondly, is there a button is can use to fluidly tag between language options within an language? So for instance, if I'm in Japanese is there a combination of buttons to press such that I can change between Hiragana and Full-Width Katakana?
Can i remove this Metro thing? I deleted every tab i didnt need on it and it left me with a blank screen? Why cant it just integrate with the desktop similar to the side widget thing but faster? That way I can still have my start menu but then have live tiles on the desktop.
Anyway how do i remove metro and put my start bar back??? As I can't access any of my newly installed programs without going to Computer>C:Pogram Data> then the program folder and finding the actual exe...
I recently tried the "sfc /scannow" command. It said it fixed corruptions and after a restart a "Windows 8.1 Pro" watermark showed. I tried to remove it using the My_WCP_Watermark_Editor.exe app. However, it gave me errors in various Modern Apps like the Windows Store app wherein it would crash whenever I type something in the search bar. I did the "sfc /scannow" command again and it fixed the Modern Apps errors but the watermark appeared again. How to remove this watermark it is very annoying. Don't tell me to activate my Windows because it is already activated. I can use the Personalization settings in the start screen.
It added the "Test Mode" and the "Build 9600" because I accidentally clicked the apply settings the first time opening the app. There must be some way to remove the annoying watermark...
I have a few Temp logons recently, and then had to copy my profile over to a new user account. Creation of the new user account seems to have gone pretty well, once I signed into my Microsoft account, everything associated with it is as it should be.
However, there a few of the older "Users" listed under This PC, which are not shown at the manage accounts page. Is there a simple way to delete the old accounts that are not in use. Deleting hem from file explorer did not work.
This PC: I'd like to delete "ADMIN 2" and "Andrew"
i had windows 7 installed and i installed windows 8 on my other partition and after some days i did a format on win7 partition but the dual boot menu is still there any solution to remove that ?
I have an older tower running W8.1 update 1 and Wxp - each OS is on a separate hard drive, when I boot the computer I get the choice of booting to W8.1 or earlier OS. I am now ready to remove the XP drive and delete all the information, my question is:
Is there a proper method to remove the choice of OS on the boot screen, or will it be removed if I just remove the hard drive with XP on it?
I hardly ever turn off my computer, I just put it to sleep. But once a week I turn it off and I did last night. When I turned it on this a.m. My Internet Explorer had AVG secure toolbar and search. I do not want it, I did not ask for it and I cannot remove it.
There should be a law against people putting stuff on your computer that you can't remove. I called Microsoft and they told me I had to pay to get rid of it. I will not, nor can I pay. I'm on Social Security. This is BS.
How to get rid of it. And where did my Microsoft Security Essentials go? Now it's missing from my computer
