I have some weird problem in Windows 8.
For some reason i can't remove ENG US Keyboard from language bar.
When i click 'Language preferences' i get this window
As you can see there is no ENG so that i can remove it! When i click on 'bosanski' options i get this:
As you can see there is no anywhere English so i can remove it. On Windows 7
If you add an input method by mistake you CANNOT it seems remove it again.
The remove button is greyed out. This applies to Windows 8.1 not Windows 8.
How to get rid of this.
First off, when I type in Korean and Japanese using the appropriate Korean/Japanese IMEs, the language bar is autoset to Half_width alphanumeric. I want to remove all options except for Hiragana and Full-Width Katakana and set it so that when I change my language to Japanese it automatically sets to Hiragana. Similarly with Korean how do I remove the alphanumeric and leave only the korean language option? Secondly, is there a button is can use to fluidly tag between language options within an language? So for instance, if I'm in Japanese is there a combination of buttons to press such that I can change between Hiragana and Full-Width Katakana?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am constantly infuriated by the switching between keyboard with Windows Key + Spacebar. I have tried everything I can think of to disable it, including googling and searching these forums... to no avail.
I need to have both languages on my computer, but I constantly accidentally hit the shortcut and switch languages inadvertently.
I just noticed that my keyboard layout appears to be incorrect, and have been unable to resolve it after some googling around. The keyboard layout of my laptop is the UK English, but even with this setting in the language settings of windows I still am stuck using the US English version, so for example my @ and " are swapped around, and where the pound sign is.
I've tried downloading new language packs, and switching to the US keyboard (no change) and back to UK (still no change).
I live in Sweden but I want to work in English. I purchased W7 Ultimate so that I would be able to use English. My question is if I purchase the "8 Pro upgrade DL will I be able to use English as my primary language? I also need to be able to use a Swedish keyboard.

I've been having this odd problem for awhile now. I use the touch keyboard on my non touch pc just for onscreen convenience. More often than not, for some unknown and odd reason, if I press a key, it will type a foreign language instead. It seems to be reverting to a German font. Or where the setting for this would be. My language fonts for the pc are all set to US English as far as I know. I think it depends on how long I hold the key down. I'm not sure. Is there a language setting just for the touch keyboard that I'm missing? This is totally different from the regular onscreen keyboard. I'm specifically using the one that says Touch. And I'm running Win 8.1 I have checked my pc's language settings and they are for US English. So what would make the touch keyboard keep reverting to a German font? I know it's German because it's typing the Eszett, that's the s that looks like a B. And it does other foreign characters as well.

I have chosen the UK layout and wish to now remove this from the taskbar.Is it possible to remove it from the taskbar?
I just got a laptop that has a touch keyboard which I never plan to use. I have Start8 running and I use only the desktop UI. I go to task bar properties/toolbars and uncheck the touch keyboard apply and OK, and the icon disappears as it should. But when I restart it has returned. Is there a way to get rid of it..

what I want to do is remove the inactive (and thus un-needed) brightness control and keyboard control icons in the Settings Charm panel.
These icons appear on the right side of the six available icons in the Settings Charm (Windows + I for shortcut).

There is setting in windows 8 "Use desktop language bar when it's available" it makes language bar like it was in windows 7. But it doesn't seem to work correctly it doesn't appear when windows starts it only appears if you change language with keyboard short cut (for example shift+alt or shift+ctrl you can change that in settings).
I have set 3 input languages so it should be there and I need to use it.. windows default language preference select menu works but language bar doesn't.
The name of the apps in the metro are in different language than English so how can I change the language? and also when I click right click on the desktop I see the options in English in addition to another language so how can I change it to be all in English?

The Problem When I turn on my laptop, there is the word "ENG" beside my clock and my input language is set to English (United States). When I click ENG; I am giving the option to switch between English(Ireland) and English (United States).
When I go to language preferences, the English (United States) language does not show as being one of my preferences
However, when I add the language and then press "Remove", the ENG beside the clock disappears
I don't mind what it is; editing the registry, deleting the English(United States) language.
my default language setting (keyboard layout) is Swedish.For some reason Windows 8.1 changes this setting to English.
I have tried to install and then uninstall the English keyboard layout (so that Swedish is the only one available) but Windows doesn't care if the layout is actually installed or not. Here is a screenshot:

Windows changes this setting on a whim, it seems to happen the most when starting up the computer. I had this problem with Windows 8 as well.

This seems heavily related to my mouse - SteelSeries - World of Warcraft : Cataclysm? MMO Gaming Mouse / the control panel for that mouse as it only started happening after installing this mouse (both home and work pc).
I have tried to add English (US) >> Set it as Primary >> Then remove English (US).
Doing this removes the English (US) keyboard completely which is what I want/expect but then it comes back again after a short while?
Is it possible to change the English (US) keys to match that of the English (UK) so even if it does change to English (US) it wouldn't be a problem anyway?
Using Windows 8.1. I have English and Japanese input languages added, and both are listed as options in the language toolbar, but it is impossible to select anything but English. Windows+Space allows me to navigate to Japanese, but releasing the keys or pressing Enter does nothing. The Left Alt+Shift shortcut also does nothing.

Heres the problem. In Control Panel -> Language the keyboard is recognized:
But on taskbar I couldn't choose my keyboard, just with Alt + Shift i can change it, but taskbar still shows Different language as input:
Is there a way how to change it to see my keyboard on the Taskbar too and do a easy change and also have it as Default, because now i need always on logon change it by ALt + Shift. If I change it in Taskbar it even doesnt work but messes up the input languages.
Even Windows + Space couldnt change my language into my keyboard only Alt + Shift
Today I changed my language options and happened to come across a BSOD. When I restarted, I found out that the input language for my password has also been changed, and my usual key combination for changing languages does not work. Thus, I cannot enter my password to change my language back to English. find a way to change the input language on the login screen?.

when i install my windows 8 this afternoon i set my location into indonesia. so all of my settings was in bahasa. i've done as the guide said but in my "START", things like Music, Weather, Pictures and some others are still in their bahasa language. while others like Maps and Computers are already changed into English.
I have just started using Windows 8 and like it very much. I do have one very small problem.I have dual language, English and Hebrew. When the program initiates the language selection comes up in Hebrew. I would prefer it to initialize in English. I haven't been able to determine if this can be changed. When i did the first setup and i had to choose the language i wanted italian but it wasn't there so i choose english and i downloaded the LP later. I installed all the updates inculded Update 1 and everything worked fine. After one week of normal use when i restarted the PC it sayed the was making operations on windows and it lasted like 20 min . I have the OS installed in SSD so it is fast.
After the restart i opened events and saw and error for LP cleaner and CBS initialization.Later i did a restore and checked region and language in control panel and it was working. I opened LPKsetup and uninstalled le LP manually , after the restart Region and language didn't work. I checked for the file intl.cpl in c/windows and there was like 30 files there, in my other pc that has only one language installed there are only 5. How to repair region and language so it can open?

Im from cyrpus/turkey so my native language is turkish but Im using english in all of my devices. So I changed the language regional settings of win 8 to all english united states except the region is cyprus and input lang is turkish Q keyboard.
Even though, in my metro UI the weather and news, mails contents are in english, the live box titles remain the old language which is turkish that I do not want to see.
My laptop Vaio is running windows 8.1 single language and I want to renew install it. But recovery in lap is windows 8 with i just want install drive C and keep my files on other drive.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy ex wife (Chinese) gave my daughter a Sony Vaio Duo 11, it is all in Chinese and for the life of me i cannot change it to English. I have tried a factory recovery, Still comes up in chinese, i have tried changing the language and nothing is available for download. I tried installing language packs but all failed with one reason or other.
Have Recovery Media in English for this machine, I have purchased a Windows 8 Pro Full edition to install but obviously will not contain all the duo 11 drivers and Vaio care files. But I guess I can use the Registration Key with no problems. (I hope)
So far I have wasted 4 days trying to do this, and everything is still in Chinese, the model number is SVD112A1ST.
I want to know how to upgrade Windows 8 single language to Windows 8 Professional, what is the way? Should I use third party program or not? I don't know.
