No Delete Confirmation For Explorer
Dec 26, 2012
When I use the "Delete" key in Explorer I don't get a confirmation - it just deletes it; very dangerous if you are just editing a filename.
Jumped to quick: When I enabled the confirmation in Recycle Bin, it enabled it in Explorer.

So, in previous Windows e.g XP or 7, when I press DELETE on my keyboard it asks for confirmation. Now Windows 8 is too smart and delete it at once. How do I force Windows 8 to ask for my permission first before deleting?

Each time I run my backup program (SynchBack SE) I get the following message;
"Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer",
which I always say 'Yes' to.
Now, I understand this is a security feature, and I think I can probably inhibit this by changing the User Access Controls (UAC). However, what I really want to do is to confirm this program can run, and not be asked again, whereas I think the UAC is a more global setting. Is there a solution to this that won't mean tweaking the UAC level?
The reason why I am wary about tweaking the UAC level is because I 'think' this will be system wide, and I don't want to reduce security for all users on my PC.
Or, maybe I have just got UAC all wrong, I am not clear TBH on all the in's and out's of UAC.

I have a smartphone and a PC with Windows 8 Pro 64 bits. They are paired using bluetooth. But everytime I want to send a file from my smartphone to the PC, I get a confirmation box in Windows 8, asking me if I want to accept or reject the file.
The problem is that in my PC, I have a fullscreen application, and I want that my users use nothing but my application. They should not have any access to any Windows menu or window.
So, how is it possible to disable this confirmation box, so Windows could automatically accept any sent file ?

I uninstalled a program, the file is still in the program files (x86). When I deleted the file a message came up. "Folder in Use - The action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program. Close the folder or file and try again." I keep trying and pressing the button again the same message. How do you delete the file?

I am having problems deleting a folder. I'm getting the message 'Could not find this item'. The error message gives the location as C:Users.......My Music
(I had a similar problem (but different location) before in Windows 7 and was able to delete it going to the 'Run' window, entering 'cmd', which brings up the 'Command Prompt' window).
I'm attempting to follow this procedure in Windows 8.
But in the command window after C:Users|.....> when I try to change to that folder using the command 'cd My Music' I get the reply 'path not found'.

.wav file that doesn't get deleted. After i hit enter various del commands don't get executed and the cmd prompt stops(doesn't let me type). This is frustrating because it is causing windows task to run excessively when it's folder(downloads) is open. [unlocker fixed it]

I am trying to set up a script to delete flashcookies on a daily basis as I don't want corporations, spammers and spooks to track me online..
The flash cookies are saved here: D:Users[username]AppDataRoamingMacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjects Often they are inside a folder, so the folders inside Shared Objects must be deleted too.
I put the below, but it doesn't work!
Code: del /F /Q /S D:UsersHanniAppDataRoamingMacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjects*.*RMDIR /S /Q D:UsersHanniAppDataRoamingMacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjects

I want to make a folder (and anything inside of it) difficult to delete. Can I create a new owner for it so that I would have to take the steps to change that in order to delete it ? I'm not looking for anything fool-proof, just something to make it not so easy to accidentally delete. I'm not too savvy with owners and permissions so I'm not really sure what to do or even if I'm on the right track.

So during setup of my laptop I created a few different accounts and then deleted some, so I now only have the one account left. Below is a picture of the folders I mean. The "joey_000" is the actual one for my account, the other 2 have nothing in them.
I made the other 2 accounts trying to change the name of the folder from "joey_000" to just my name, but it couldnt be done so I just left it. The other two folders are there and when I try to delete them, that error message comes up. I just want to be rid of them because the accounts to which they are linked have been deleted and they serve no purpose and are annoying.
