View 9 RepliesRecently my computer ran into a problem, couple of days ago, I could play or view websites just fine, just that day when I came back from outside I launched my game (The secret world) and the launcher got stuck at Downloading patch information.. (which was actually trying to connect to the server for patching) It was just stuck at there, so, I tried opening the game's website for support, but surprise, I can't either..
this is the error Google Chrome shows me ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT. So I can't play nor see the website BUT, when I use a proxy in chrome, I can see the website just fine, and no, im not banned from the game..
This is what I've tried so far..
Flushing DNS
Cleaning dns cache
Resetting router / modem settings to factory
Rebooting several times
And I even restored my whole PC to fabric state (Yup, I formatted and all)
I am a gamer and for some reason i cant connect to any games. I ran netalyzr and here are the results:

Everything was fine yesterday but after attempting to connect to steam i get this : [URL] .....
I have a Asus Laptop operating with Windows 8.1. It connects to wifi but none of the desktop icons can get to the Internet. Meanwhile most window tiles in the start menu have Internet access . For example I have the application "MegaTube" and that application has access to the Internet. As well as the weather app, which updates when connected to the Internet.
View 3 Replies View RelatedLets just say someone was looking at something they shouldnt of been looking at online and now my game lags. The lag isn't network related its because my cpu is peaking out and it didnt before the above mentioned event. The game will lag, I will hit w key and my toon wont move or ill be in pvp and look like im killing someone to be insta dead. I will attempt to turn with A or D and like 3 seconds later my toon will turn.
I have malware bytes but it finds nothing when I scan. and when my game is lagging I pull up task manager to see my cpu running really high and as soon as the task manager comes up it drops back down to a normal operating state and the process that is making it run really high drops off the list before i can see what it actually is. Also on my task manager I see a wow proxy server or something and when i end that task it does run a little faster but still unplayable at times.
Anyways I have :
ran malware bytes
downloaded norton/ran norton scan
still find nothing
My cpu and disk (on tank manager) run up to 90% and 100% and back down to normal levels and bakc up again and stays at like 100% cpu when i play the game , but two days ago it played the game flawlessly so i know its malicious software.
I want to play wow and its not really playable right now, I mean it seems to play but lags so bad and my world and home are at like 50 so its not a network lag.
I am having trouble with ICS on win 8. On my old laptop (win xp) I used to be able to share my 3Connect dongle internet to connect to Xbox live. I recently got a new laptop with win 8 and whenever I share this internet connection I can never connect on my Xbox (the network to internet part fails). When everything is connected up and shared the Ethernet says 'Unidentified Network' which i believe is the cause of the problem. I've read i may require a driver update but i cannot seem to find one.
My Laptop: Toshiba Satellite C855-29N
what to do, maybe i am not setting up the connection sharing properly?
Okay, so in Windows 7 I am able to connect my wireless to my phone, and run an ethernet cable over to my Xbox. If I use the ICS feature and configure it under services to allow ports 88 and 53 UDP, it works fine. This also allows my Xbox to seemingly add to this list of ports as it finds necessary.
The issue is however, with Windows 8, although I can connect to Xbox Live the same way, it does not seemingly allow the Xbox to add more ports that it deems necessary. This leads to that NAT error message that I am actually trying to do this as a way to bypass it.
In Windows 7 this only works if the connection is set to Home (not sure about Work), but not public. I'm curious if the reason this does not work in Windows 8 is that Windows 8 does not have a Home option, but rather only Private or Public settings. There is some small setting buried deep somewhere that I just need to change to treat it like Windows 7 allows Xbox to treat home networks and configure/add ports automatically.
for some reason, windows 8 starts going mad (100% disk and ram usage) when i copy, highlight, or open a ~5gig mpeg2 file (hdtv recording)
right click > view image (to see full image)
no, this is NOT a disk problem...
i copied these exact same files from windows 7 the exact same day i copied them back to windows 8..
also windows 8 started going mad if i read these files from my backup drive AND my normal drive .. it happened with TWO separate files not just one and on BOTH hard drives windows 8 started with the 100% disk usage crap..
i did manage to delete both files through the command prompt, but it sure did take looong time... i then recorded another 5+gig tv show file on windows 8, and windows 8 started going crazy again ..
now my freaking hard disk does not show a normal status on a smart check!!
i'm 100,000,000% sure this is a windows 8 problem since i'm back on windows 7 using big mpeg2 files with no problems... but my f'ing smart check isn't showing good status anymore
also windows 8 loads my wrong network driver !!!
intel/windows8 loading the wrong network driver
How can i create local WIFI network without having internet access on my pc. This seems to work if I have access to internet but when i disconnect internet connection my PC ( virtual router ) cannot see anymore other devices..
All other devices that are connecting to my virtual hostednetwork are working without any problems expect my pc. What have i missed that my PC where virtual hostednetwork is running cannot see devices in "virtual" network without internet access?
I just got a brand new Samsung Laptop for work. I dont know a ton about windows 8 either im fairly new to it. I work at a mental hospital doing security and we are allowed to have a laptop for over night shifts. I have an Alfa wireless antenna (cause i get low signal where im stationed) along with my normal laptop Wifi.
Heres the story. I was using my laptop antenna then out of no where it said "Identified Network (no internet access)" then my internet just stopped. I had this happen on my old laptop and it lasted a few days then worked like normal again. Then i switched to mt usb antenna and it worked fine for about 20 mins then all of a sudden it went it "Identified Network (no internet access)". So I was stuck with no internet. I tried looking up fixes on my ipod and i tried 3 Ways To Fix The Unidentified Network Error in Windows 8 and it didnt work I tried How To Fix Unidentified Network Windows - YouTube and it didn't work either. I'm dying here cause I have to sit in a room for 12 hours tonight with no way to keep my self from falling asleep or entertained.
I'm having a serious problem trying to connect my other laptops running windows 8, the host laptop that is connected to internet with modem is Compaq Presario g56 laptop also running windows 8, I'm connected to the internet with my evdo modem and this laptop is browsing fine, I download mhotspot to share this connection, this other computers are connected but showing limited connection in their network and sharing panel, the modem have access to internet and the private network I created on the host computer also show access to internet, so why are other computers connected to this computer are not browsing with this internet connection. attached is the screen shot of the host computer this problem had been persistent for more than one week
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can set up sharing of my internet connection with the WiFi hotspot connection and it works fine until I restart my PC.
Then it reverts to a different setting and I have to manually change it back.
Is there a way to make the internet connection sharing settings permanent?
I use a USB modem in Windows 8.1 laptop. I want to share the internet to other devices by creating a hostednetwork. I used the netsh commands to create and start the hostednetwork. The wifi hotspot got created as 'Local area network connection *14. The internet from the USB modem was shared to Local area network connection *14. Other devices are able to connect to this and are getting IP address in the range of 192.168.137.X. The issue is that, the devices are not able to access internet. in troubleshooting this issue.
Don't give the instructions to create a hostednetwork or advice to use 'Virtual router plus'. I have already done all sorts of basic troubleshooting. Everything looks fine, but there is no internet connection to other devices.
I am able to share internet using the same USB modem with same method in Windows 7.
I got this problem on my laptop Asus u38dt under Windows 8.1 a couple of months ago. It cannot connect to any network either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet (I tried an external USB Wi-Fi adapter as well, with the same result). In case of getting IP with DHCP, the network is shown as Unidentified network with no address assiged (IP is like 169.*). When static IP enabled, the network name is correct. But in both cases, connection is Limited and with No Internet access.
Connection can't be established with any router while other devices connect properly with them, so the problem is on the laptop side.
With all of this, any ping, even to 127.0.0.1, results in General failure.
When booted in Linux liveUSB, network works fine, so it is clearly not a hardware issue.
I tried resetting TCP/IP stack with "netsh int ip reset", reinstalling drivers, reinstalling the network adapter, and lots of other methods and still it doesn't work. Restoring system is not an option since I don't have any restoration point prior to the problem anymore.
I recently bought a new laptop. (MSI GP60 2PE LEOPARD) with windows 8
After I've installed the latest windows 8 update a lot of stuff isen't working.
But, the only place my internet works is in Google Chrome?
If i try Internet Explorer, then I just get a message saying that the page could not be shown.
If I in chrome, try to download an application that has an installer, like skype for example, then I get an error saying that I do not have internet.
But dropbox for some reasons works fine.
EDIT: It seems like I can only upload.
I'm using internet Explorer 11 and my google results have become broken in both Desktop and Metro.
I was using IE11 fine yesterday with no problems on 8.1 and now I have this problem.
I have tried compatibility mode and reset the browser.

could it be my isp ? ,laptop works fine.
I have an Asus Aspire laptop with windows 8 on it. Recently my laptop has refused to load we pages. It says it is connected to the wifi and it will load the opening page for Google Chrome. If I try to go any further than that, it says the web page is unavailable.

As another bit of info, this weekend my wife used an older WD external USB HD for the first time. She didn't experience any difficulties, except the "safely remove device" attempt was never successful. Not sure if this is correlation or coincidence.
I have a laptop I bought last fall with Windows 8. Everything has worked fine until just now. I had internet a moment ago and now it is telling me that there is no connection available. View 1 Replies View RelatedFor many years I've always hibernated my computer when I'm done for the night, then wake it in the morning and continue where I left off. For the past week or so when I wake it up I have no internet connection. I have run the self repair thing (I forget the name off the top of my head) which usually fixes any problem I have but this time it says it can't solve the problem. I tried Googling for an answer and the only solution I could find didn't work. That is to go into Device manager > Network Adapters, and disable "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power". That didn't sound like a good answer anyway since this did work before and now it suddenly doesn't.

From yesterday I am having my trouble connecting to internet my laptop shows that it's connected to wifi but when I load any pages it gives dns error I contacted my ISP and they gave me all the settings but still no luck but when I ran Linux through DVD internet worked so my windows is having problems not the router I have Wi-Fi connection. Sometimes it's shows connected and sometimes limited but whatever it shows cant load any web pages except "192.168.1.1" but I can load any pages on my Android. I have attached my system log of my laptop. Link to log - dropcanvas - instant drag and drop sharing - canvas view
I tried
System restore - failed
System refresh - missing files
Uninstalled recently installed programs
Reset all network configuration using cmd
Here's what happened. Yesterday in the morning i was on my laptop (windows 8).
When suddenly, it started going really slow. I restarted it and every time i log into my account, i goes a bit slower, but not too much. Then whenever i open Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, the disk space goes straight up to 100% and doesn't go down. I went into safe mode and it didn't go slow then so it must be something else. I also downloaded AVG and scanned my computer but it found no threats. I have made a new account, which goes slow sometimes but is fine most of the time.
I'm new to Win 8.1 but I'm fairly tech-savvy. I've got a new Toshiba Satellite S55 B5289 with Win 8.1, connecting to the Internet via Time-Warner over wifi. I'd go into the details of the wifi and router, but given that I've got a month-old HP with Win 7, and a 2-year old Samsung Chromebook sitting here with the Toshiba, all three running Chrome as opposed to IE, and the other two getting significantly better speed, I don't think those details are really critical.
This problem has been going on since I brought the new laptop home, but I've carefully uninstalled all the bloatware that came pre-installed, and made the standard Chrome tweaks [unchecking the hardware accelleration] nothing has worked. Yesterday I took it to a friend who has a computer repair business and he tuned up a lot of the things inside Win 8.1 that I had no clue about - as I understood it, making 8.1 run Chrome without going *through* IE. I didn't pay as much attention to that as I should have, but essentially everything seemed to be working very well. His Internet connection, however, is lightning fast, and connecting to that wifi, things were downloading and running spectacularly well. Just what I'd expected - or at least hoped for - when I bought it.
Using it at home today, the problems have resurfaced. Loading emails, for instance, is not quite right. Images in the emails frequently don't load properly - it will stutter and often stops in the middle of an email. If I click on a link, there can be a significant delay before the page loads. Videos buffer every few seconds and even when I let the entire video load, it still plays spastically.
All of this is in Chrome, using tabs - which I always do. Yes, of course I could clear the cache, start fresh, use no tabs, let one thing load at a time, but that's not what I have ever done, so this is real world testing. The most telling detail, though is the download speeds I'm getting.
Running Speedtest on all three machines, the ping is basically the same, but on the Toshiba, it frequently can't even finish the download test. It just stalls to a halt. The Chromebook gets a download speed of 5.75 and the HP gets 21.31. We pay Time-Warner for 20, so I'd really like to see something like that on the Toshiba.
i really suffer when i use my laptop to connect to the internet via wifi
1. can't connect to this network : this message appears every time i try to connect to the internet even at home where the distance between the laptop and the router is less than one meter aand no one is using the internet
2.even if i managed to connect to the network i can't connect to the internet for a while -varies from 5 to 10 minutes-
3. sometimes the network auto disconnects with no error message
4.there is a small '!' above every available network and i remember it disappeared for a while and the networking was perfect
I cannot connect to internet after uninstalling my Avast 8 (Exact version 8.0.1487). I even tried uninstalling it from their uninstallation tool in Windows 8 Safe Mode, still had the same problem.
On troubleshooting, this is what I was shown "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration. I also tried flushing DNS, etc but with no luck. However when I reinstall Avast, internet starts working again.
I am using a DSL connection with internet cable which goes directly to the back of my CPU and I don't have any modem device in my house.
How do I completely remove Avast 8 and get my internet back?
When I go on the app store I receive a massage saying my internet is not connected when in fact I am connected to the net and can go on line with a browser. Similarly all the apps show "offline" status. Funny thing is that when on the startpage I can see that the financial ticker is uptodate, but when I go on the app it says "offline" and shows news from 10 days ago.
