MS Windows Mail (from Vista) Enabled To Run On Windows 8
Oct 14, 2012
I've ported small, simple and quite nice mail application MS Windows Mail (from Windows Vista) to Windows 8.Both x64 and x32 versions can be run and used successfully. It was a little bit more difficult, than make it run on Windows 7.
Last year I was able to find a batch file for installing Vista Windows Mail on Windows 7. Any batch file for installing Vista Windows Mail on Windows 8.1? I have all the files, just need the actual batch file.
I belong to a stationery group and we're unable to use Windows 8.1 mail program for what we do and we need to use Windows Mail instead.
How do i move contact list from vista machine using outlook or rather windows live mail (?)
On to new laptop using windows 8 which has mail app, i have successfully created and added the three email addresses but when i try to add contacts it asks me for email/username and passwords...??
My contacts are stored in windows live mail on old pc and it will let me export to csv or ?? but the new laptop wont let me import...? How to do this...
I want to transfer the contacts from a vista pc. the vista pc uses office 2007. I want to export or transfer the contacts from that pc to a windows 8.1 pc that has outlook 2013 installed. I tried WET, but that doesn't work with 8.1 from vista.
I recently installed Windows 8. I have apply every requirements that is in windows for password. In settings it is set and also in power option....
But when I restart my pc or when i shut it down and turn in it back on it doesn't ask for password and it goes straight to start screen but it does ask for password for sleep and hibernate. Its very important to me to have protection.
I have a windows 8 partition and vista partition. I want to uninstall VISTA, how do I do this? Do I set windows 8 as my active partition and just delete VISTA partition under disk management?
how to make anything else installed windows 8.1.1, and have enabled administrator account. (net user administrator /Active: yes).I do not want after install, oblige me to create a user account.
Laptop - Vista service pack 2 Desktop - Windows 8.1
Both computers can see each other, but they only see the "Public" files. I would like to access the entire hard drive of the laptop. I turned off the password protection, right clicked "Share with everyone".
I'm not sure what's exactly the problem but sometimes Windows 8.1 hangs at the Windows logo at boot with Fast Startup enabled on a mSATA SSD with my Lenovo Y570 laptop.
My laptop does not support Secure Boot/GPT or UEFI, so I'm really unsure if that's the problem.
Once I disable Fast Startup the boot process never hangs ever but it makes my bootup time slightly slower.
My Vista running laptop recently died. It boots as far as the screen saying it didn't boot properly last time and suggesting I boot into Safe Mode etc. Whatever I chose it doesn't work. I can boot into Ubuntu via USB disc so I know the laptop is fine.
My laptop has a genuine Vista license key but I don't have any install or recovery discs. Is there any way I can install Windows 8 using the upgrade license while it is still cheap?
I dual-booted Vista and Win 8. I created a small ~20GB partition where I have my Windows 8 Release Preview. Now I really like it, because Vista is really slow compared to any other OS. Windows 8 is blazing fast, but I have programs on my Vista partition. I make music so I use Ableton Live for that. When I tried to launch Ableton in Windows 8 by browsing through the Vista partition, it wants to install itself and authorize again. If I was on Windows 7 64-bit I would use the Laplink PCMover but I am on Vista 32-bit. Is there a way I could transfer my programs to Windows 8? (They're all 32-bit if it matters...) Like use some backup & restore thing or anything??
I have Vista with shared files and folders but when I click on the PC shown in computers or do a run //pctosharewithneame
I receive a username and PW entry box.
On my Vista I do not log in with a PW. My account name is HOME and has no PW and it is set up as Adminwhch may be different than a machine admin-not sure.
I assume that would be the user name would be home. But Home and no PW was not accepted by the Win 8 machine for the Vista machine
I used the Easy Windows Backup on my old machine (running vista), saved to an external hard drive. Installed the latest 8.1.1 on a new machine and tried to use the Easy Windows Backup to restore my stuff, but I get this message "Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer files from Windows Vista or Windows XP".
Is there any way I can recover my files from the Easy Transfer Backup?
My contacts are in apps. windows 8 and in outlook 2013. I wish to use them on the computer of my friend working with windows vista. I can export my contacts in .pst folder or in common separated values but I don't know how to open and/or use the folder with the contacts in windows vista.
I have been given a dell inspiron 531 with 64 bit AMD processor, running 32 bit vista home basic, that has responded well to RAM upgrade to 4GB.
I want to install 64 bit win 8 pro media centre which I have on an original MS CD. either over current vista or on separate partition as dual boot.
For some reason the dell wont read the MS win 8 64 disk (or any other original MS OS disks I have (vista-32/7-64/8-32)) but reads pretty much everything else (DVD's excepted as currently has no DVD reading software.)..either through explorer or during boot..it is not only original ms discs that are a problem as dell won't read Windows 8-64 enterprise trial iso I burned myself either.
I have tried turning off security software (MS security essentials/MS firewall)..no change.
CD's all read fine via explorer on my lightly hopped up HP tx1340ea running win 8-64 pro media centre.
Whenever my windows startup i get a popup error message which says "Your system does not appear to have Intel Rapid Start Technology enabled". I have a 32G SSDR mSATA Card. I have not received this message when I was having Windows 8. How to enable Intel Rapid Start Technology?
When i tried to install Intel Rapid Start Technology Driver from Dell Drivers (APP_iRST_W8.1_A01_Setup-7VYC3_ZPE) i get message stating "The Computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."
If I decide not to buy the whole package of a new Windows 8 and 8.1 Desktop PC, will a Windows Vista monitor be compatible to run with Windows 8 and 8.1?
Windows 8/8.1 is supposed to have superfetch disabled automatically when it recognizes a SSD, but mine is enabled. I have a SSD but also a secondary HDD that is accelerated with a 25 mSATA SSD via Intel Rapid Storage Technology. I'm assuming since the second HDD is enhanced with a SSD then there should be no reason whatsoever to leave superfetch on.. I'm thinking I should turn it off, and if there's anything else you think I should do to improve my settings or stop any services I don't need,
My model is HP Pavilion Slimline s3760in Desktop PC
HP Pavilion Slimline s3760in Desktop PC Product Specifications -- In product specifications you can notice that my OS was shipped with Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Media Center (32-bit) with Vista Service Pack 1
In NVidia website it has mentioned that all the oem model should download from manufacture like hp, dell website only.
IF you check driver update for this model for windows vista 32bit you will notice original driver like keyboard, nvidia, etc.

So my queries is that i have recently installed windows 8.1 and i wanted these original files to be installed but dont know which one to pick from vista drivers or windows 7 drivers? but windows 7 drivers are latest when compare with vista. Or should I download nvidia drivers from nvidia website? and also same goes with realtek audio driver from realtek website?
My Old laptop died. Not a Harddrive issue it functions fine. I had Vista installed. I now have a new HP ENVY DV7. I would like to set up my new system to allow booting from either my old hard drive, or my new system. How to accomplish this?
I enabled Hyper-V on my computer. When it restared I saw it was configuring Hyper-V. I didn't opened Hyper-V the same day. Two days later, I wont to open Hyper-V but I can't find it anywhere! Also, it isn't listed in programs anymore... I also enabled virtualisation in the BIOS.
I recall enabling some sort of monitor/feedback to MS service after or during the update from win 8 pro to win 8.1 pro. But I dont recall what it was called.
Now my cpu is running 50%+ much of the time fr no apparent reason.
Windows Host Process Tasks .... or some such thing shows in the Task Mgr when it is throttling my cpu....and runnig it 50%+.
How can I find and disable the service that is causing this?
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. I think this was "Application information" service.
The problem is that now I can't run app called Turbo Service Manager to backup, services.msc, regedit, elevated cmd to use "net start", msconfig, even *.reg files won't launch. I can't launch Safe Mode through metro because my USB mouse and keyboard disconnects at the moment I should choose "4".
I was using my laptop with everything going smoothly. USB port with adapter and CF card inserted. Ear buds in audio port. I decided to close the laptop which automatically puts the system in hibernate (or whatever it does when fast startup is active). Everything looked good. Now when I come back to it, open the lid and begin to startup from hibernate state it gets hung in the bootup and will not proceed. I have tried holding the power button to shut down and then restart -- no joy -- comes back to the same hung screen. Have tried holding various escape keys with startup -- no joy -- back to that same hung screen. Is there some way to bypass the hyberfil file which is probably corrupted, and get back to a full cold boot and restart from scratch?
