How can I make English international my preferred keyboard? Whenever I reboot it goes back to just English. I have looked through the settings of the keyboard, but can't find on what to do.
I set my Win 8 to Eng with Spanish keyboard but the moment I look the other way gremlins change it to Eng Eng, How can I make Eng with Spanish keyboard default?
I live in Sweden but I want to work in English. I purchased W7 Ultimate so that I would be able to use English. My question is if I purchase the "8 Pro upgrade DL will I be able to use English as my primary language? I also need to be able to use a Swedish keyboard.
I have two keyboards loaded in Windows 8 Pro: US English , and US International. How do I make US International primary? The examples given always list English and Danish for instance, so you can move one up or down. But in my case, I always see one keyboard, even though both are active.
I have a dell xps 12, for some reason I can't find a way to make the on screen keyboard appear automatically when I click a text entry field, like it does on phones.
I have to manually select it from the task bar each time when I use it as a tablet.
I want to make keyboard symbols, specifically the Spanish inverted exclamation point and other special characters. Everything I have found online says I need to make sure that num lock is on and then use the proper ALT function. However, I am on a laptop with no number pad and no num lock key. I can't figure out how to make these special characters.
When I run the Desktop app in Windows 8 64-bit, the icon of a virtual keyboard is always displayed on the taskbar on the right. What is? How do I to make it disappear?
Bought new notebook with Win8. In set-up somehow ended up with two user names. Unfortunately, have docs/data/pix, etc. transferred to the non-preferred user and some applications downloaded to the other. Can I "merge" these two users into one, and delete the other? If not, how can I delete the non-preferred user?
Having bought my Acer PC in Spain (where I live) it came with the Spanish version - I've changed the user side to English but the background (?) language is still Spanish - how to change it? Could be difficult in the event of a crash or similar as my knowledge of Spanish is fairly limited.

Here's a question about Google's search engine. And it is related to web browsers, sort of...
Whenever I search in Google I get the local google.rs, and a little box pops up on the right giving me an option to "Switch to English".
Now, I work from home, so I'm online all day and I search on Google quite a lot. I do not want to change my search engine, if I can fix the problem.
The problem is that I do not want it to keep redirecting to the local .rs google search engine, and then ask me every time if I want to switch to English or keep the local language. It's annoying, it wastes my time, and I've noticed that a lot of times if I change it to English it actually displays different results than it does if I let it search with the local .rs google search engine.
Any way to change this gestapo setting and make it Always search the English search engine?
I want to make my laptop (hp pavilion g6 Windows 8 64-bit) exactly like my pc. I mean to have every option the same and everything in the registry to be the same. Is there a way i can do this automatically?
I'm trying to remove the Homegroup from Windows Explorer. I was following the tutorial that I used for Windows 7 but it doesn't work. Any change I try to make to the registry is denied.
how do you make changes to the registry in Windows 8? Not being able to definitely makes it more secure but also impossible to customize.
I'm not 100% sure on how to make backups of my computer, and which programs are good etc. Also will it just backup the operating system itself, or all my programs and setting also?
I have Windows 8.1 fully updated, I need a folder and the files in it to be writeable, when I go to folder/properties the attributes/Read Only have a square dot in the box, when I take the dot out and apply, a short file is run then I close the folder and go to folder/properties again and the square dot in the box is there again.
I try to click on the box and change to a tick, apply then take the tick out and apply I still get the square dot in the box when I go to folder/properties.
It doesn't matter what I do the program I am installing want writable and will not install properly.
How do I make a folder and the files in it fully writable?
I have got a new lap, it has pre installed Windows 8,and for recovery of warranty, if something goes wrong, I want to make an ISO image for burn it in dvd. I have read that it will be around 4gb of the dvd...

I want to make a folder (and anything inside of it) difficult to delete. Can I create a new owner for it so that I would have to take the steps to change that in order to delete it ? I'm not looking for anything fool-proof, just something to make it not so easy to accidentally delete. I'm not too savvy with owners and permissions so I'm not really sure what to do or even if I'm on the right track.
i have created a custom install.wim of win 8.1 pro using windows pe usb drive and sysprep generalise option. when i run my new setup and enter key it says "this key doesn't work with this edition of windows. try a different key". But i have tried all edition generic keys but none work. I also tried creating a ei.cfg file, but then it says "setup has failed to validate the product key".
So when I was using Windows Vista I used Acronis True Image, when windows 7 came along I use macrium reflect, now I am using windows 8.
don't know what to try or use this time. I have three hard drives one for my OS, one for media+installation of programs and lastly one for backups. I want to make a system image in case something goes wrong save me the hassle of reinstalling and downloading again?
My system was dual booting Windows 8 and Windows 7. I have deleted the Windows 7 option from the msconfig of Windows 8. Now the system boots automatically into Windows 8 with no problems. If I delete/ format the Windows 7 partition through Windows 8, will it cause any problems?
Also, I found that Windows 7 partition is marked as primary, while the Windows 8 is logical. I
Windows 8 is in C Drive (You can see that its logical)
Windows 7 was in E Drive
There is also a 2.50 GB Simple Basic FAT32 partition with status as - Healthy (System, Active, Primary Partition) - What is this?
PS: I do have EasyBCD 2.2 and MiniTool Partition Wizard Server Edition Installed. The latter is not able to modify C drive and set it as primary.
My Asus laptop does not give me an option to make recovery CD's it only shows USB as the only option. The laptop has no built in CD-DVD but I have external drive..... Can I make recovery CD's.... I did make a recovery USB but would like CD'S also,
If I use the search function, not in a browser, but in the OS itself, it will bring up a Bing page of results. This page fills the entire screen and has no apparent way to close it. This also happens when I open a PDF using the native Windows 8 reader - the pdf opens to a full page with no apparent way to minimize or close it.
That's just the beginning of the problem. I have been just ignoring what is on that full screen by opening the desktop and just going about my work (hate the tiles, but that's a different story). However, from time-to-time, when I'm moving the mouse cursor and doing nothing but moving the mouse cursor, that full screen Bing page or PDF will just pop to the front unbidden. I can obviously reopen the desktop again, but this is a hassle, as this page-behind just keeps popping up and interupting my work. Worse, once it happens, it seems to happen again and again as I'm making the first mouse movement after moving back to the desktop. I literally have to open the desktop again and again 5 or 6 times before that document behind stops popping up. When I TRY to reproduce this, I can't. I can't seem to make the document behind pop up just by moving the mouse - but when I don't want it to happen, it does.
I am using Start8 which has no option for hits. I could try Classic Shell instead and get cascading list of All Programs which I may do for the heck of it.
But in the meantime, I wonder if I can somehow get larger text in All Programs? I have messed with various dpi and other settings.
I just did the 'refresh without losing files or settings' after having Windows 8.1 for like 6 months to refresh. Well I lost pretty much every setting and basically started from scratch minus backing up my files to an external/cloud like a regular full reformat. This feature save maybe 5 minutes. and my monitor settings are all messed up, tiny text or scroll bar on the bottom of IE because pages wont fit if I make the text larger, the resolution was fine before I reformatted. What a POS OS. I can go on and on and on. MS should be sued for emotional distress for this faulty POS OS.
So my recents docs is gone we all know, but there are sort of workarounds. I want my recent docs, not recent 'Items' that I was able to pin to start but requires more navigating to get to recent word files etc.
I did this Just open the run dialog box by pressing Win + R and type in "recent". There you can see your recent activities.
Note: "Recent places" can be access under Windows Explorer's under "Favorite".
Also you can create a shortcut of the "recent" at your desktop and then pin it to start menu. For this just right click on desktop and seclect New>Shortcut. In file location type the path
well when I enter the copied path to the new shortcut, it says invalid. The path is:
C:Users ameRecent"C:Users ame ecentRecent"
Edit, after just noticing the link above actually doubled the path, I just deleted the duplicate second half and got the shortcut to create and made it work.
great program that it duplicated the path when I copied it once.
how to make a mirror image in Windows 8. I remember in win7 I could just type "Recovery" and select "Create mirror image" but that doesn't work in Windows 8.
